Laptop $500 - $600 Price Range

CAGiversary!
I am looking to spend between $500 and $600 on a laptop.  The laptop is going to be used for work (nothing graphics intense) and every day surfing the internet.  Does any one have any suggestions.  The more I look the more they all blend together and start to look the same.

I like acer myself. They are no frills laptops with nothing but fancy but they run like champs. My dad had one for like 6 years he gave to my girlfriend she had for another year and never had a problem, I bought her a new one 2 years ago with no problems, my neighbor has had 2, mom has a acer chromebook, and girlrfriends son has one also. They are reasonably priced as well.

They arent slow as hell garbage, but not super fast speedy either.

You may want to check out chromebooks. They used to be "okay" and nothing special like netbooks. But they are now pretty good. Might save you a few hundred bucks. Since they can now do a lot of things. Have great battery life and are very fast since they come with an ssd instead of a mechanical hard drive like most laptops.

Checking them out at a local store (best buy, staples, etc) is a good way to see if you like one. Or would work for your needs.
