CAGiversary!
I've got a Compaq Presario v6000 I am trying to fix for someone. The problem was that the screen would freeze or "misfire" when the screen was stationary. But when the lid had torque on it, it would stay normal. So I cracked it open and discovered that the display cable is faulty where the hinge is.
As I was closing it up and turned it on, the backlight would not turn on. I checked the connections to the inverter and everything is connected and tight. Tried booting then fiddling with the wires and nothing lights up. I have tried to find the lid switch in the documents for it, but I cannot find them. Any feedback or suggestions on what to troubleshoot next is appreciated!
