Laptop Buy. What is the Best?

Hey homies, I'm going to college soon, and i'm thinking about getting a laptop. My university is offering a macbook pro with a 3 year applecare warrenty for 1300$. I know there are cheaper options out there with as good or better power. I want suggestions within that price range that combine power and reliability.

Personally, for $1300, I'd get a 15" Sager with an i7 (Ivy Bridge/3rd gen) with a 670m. I've never owned a Sager, but have heard a lot of good things. Also, if you're going this route it might be worth it to get the thermal compound upgrade.
