CAGiversary!
I am looking for a new laptop. My old acer was nice, but it was slow and wasn't durable. Being slow, it was 1.2Ghz.

I am looking for a laptop for college and want it to be HD, durable, have blu ray, and pretty fast. My budget is $700 or less.

What do you guys reccomend?

Also does any of you know if I can trade in my old laptop that doesn't turn on towards a new laptop? Thanks!

I think Best Buy has a trade in program.

$700 eh? Slickdeals is a good place to look at for deals. Newegg should have something.

Laptop brands that get a plus from me Toshiba, Acer, MSI, and ASUS

Dells and HP are okay but you can do better.
Do you really need Blu-ray? Its going to be tough to find one for under $1000, for $700 and a blu-ray drive you might be able to find a decent i3, but you want longevity. So why not skip the blu-ray drive and get something with as much horsepower as possible.
Sounds like you want a desktop replacement in a laptop.

Here are a few decent laptops

ASUS i5

Toshiba i7 (staples)

Yeah that's true about the blu ray. I just wanted something to watch movies on also but is eater have power and longetivity.
That being said, I love the sound of that toshiba. By reading it and checking it out I might have to jump on that. Also I think I read where staples takes trade ins also?

Would you prefer this laptop? Or the Toshiba i7?
