I have a Gateway 6518GZ, with a 15.4" widescreen laptop- the sides of my laptop stick out a bit but not biggie. The added angle makes my laptop a lot more comfortable to use.
It has two fans, which you can turn over so they suck air out from underneath and blow it out (by default, it blows air up to your laptop). I've had it for over 6 months, and love it. It's powered by USB and comes with a Y-adapter so you don't lose a USB slot.
I've left my laptop on overnight while defragging my HDD- when I woke up, the laptop has barely even warm!
This is usually on sale for $20.. Works great cause its moble.. Keeps my compaq cool, and prevents it from burning my legs.. Prolly adds years to your notebook..

I have this Antec Notebook cooler, bought it from Circuit City a while ago when they had it on sale for $15. It works nicely with Xbox 360 because it is USB powered and you can just plug the USB cable to the front of the 360 and viola! I tagged on some rubber stands onto the surface of the cooler to elevate my laptop to allow for more airflow.
