Hello CAG. I have a quick Laptop RAM question. I'm not too familiar with RAM in general and before I make a mistake on purchasing some I thought I would ask CAG members for help. My Laptop is a HP Pavilion DV6227cl.

Now I am going to purchase 2 x 1GB RAM Sticks from Newegg.com. I use there Memory Help Guide and they Suggest I get this RAM:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145593

Now do I have to go with this one since they say it's the only one that will work? I saw some PQI RAM on there website for roughly 10.00 Cheaper after shipping. Also can I use the PC5300 or do I have to stick with the PC4200?

Thanks for the help! I'm pretty newbish with computers :D

No idea. Though I always buy from newegg I never use their selector.
I use the scanners at 18004memory or crucial.

Newegg's suggestion works based on high number customer reviews and overall rating so that's why they usually end up recommending the items that the most number of people are happy with.

I honestly see no reason to favor one brand of memory over another unless you're looking for high performance memory.

Ah Ok cool. Thanks. I guess i'll go with the PQI RAM to save a bit of money.

Since no one touched on it...
You can run higher speed memory than the motherboard can support. It will run at the speed the motherboard supports.
