large supply of marvel vs capcom 2 at gamestop/ebgames.com

for some WEIRD reason, gamestop/ebgames online websites just received a very large number of marvel vs capcom 2s in stock. I ordered 2 and both have are shown as shipped (chose value shipping as im cheap). a couple of my friends ordered one too and theyve all been shipped. Its still showing as in stock...so im guessing they have a ton left...any guess as to why?
^60 bucks... great deal... I bought like 5 from BB for 10 a pop like 3-4 years ago.
well it ended up as 56.xx with cag16 and value shipping. i dont think its game quest direct as these are marked as used

EDIT: nvrmnd...i just learned that gamestop sells gamequestdirects games as used because theyre used prices are higher...interesting

GS opens them and sells them used. But nothing is showing up as inbound on the store locator as it usually would in that case, so who knows.

Heh, my two stores have one, maybe I should pick them up.

Yeah, but Gamestop has been upping the price of used, less common games... Suikoden III used to be $28 used, and now it's $40.

yup...disgaea went from 40 to 70 in a month

wow, I just sold mine on ebay for $102. Of course it was sealed, but still. Glad I did now. With that money, I got a mint/complete Valkyrie Profile PS1 for $106 shipped BIN. Yeah, that's a lot of money for one game, but that game goes for $150-$175 on every auction I see usually. I just happened on the one I got as the guy listed it.
Damn, that's uber expensive, but i guess it beat the alternative (EBay).
maybe.
it is possible that gamestop will send you a disc only copy.

Man I should of held on to those copies I had... they were all sealed... and I sold them cept for one I kept...I sold them cheap because I was being nice. 49.99 buy it now on ebay for a new copy... price people would pay in store new...

GQD doesn't have it

it's not a reprint. GS gets these all the time.

Since the original arcade game ran on a board similar to a dreamcast, many consider the dreamcast version to be the most faithful version

I bought this game at CC years ago for $10. It is a really sucky game, and you would have to be loco to pay more than $10 for this game.

fuck you.

i had the dreamcast version and it was one hell of a game to play. but like the complete idiot i was i sold it along with alot of other dc games that turned out to be crazy valuable now. the only game i have left is phantasy star online and the japanese version of dead or alive 2 for the dc. i bought it because people hyped up all the costumes you couldnt get in the american version.

id love to have m v c 2 again but thats too much to pay for a game thats way past its prime. it sucks these companies keep trying to gouge gamers by charing ridiculous prices for classic games.

ugh i love that new its 40.00 but used its 60.00 HA HA! i love how eb can make people think games are a commodity...

On slightly different note, I did find Outrun 2006 Coast 2 Coast in mint condition for 7.99 at EBGames store. I was marked as Outrun 2.

you're the n00biest n00b that ever n00bed.
Games quest direct strikes again?
I wouldnt think it would be GQD. They would have to get licenses from Capcom and Marvel to do this as opposed to just the 1 person normally. I would think right there they would be kissing their profit goodbye. Maybe im wrong but i don't think there is a reprint of this.

Also they would have it on their site for purchase which they don't.

they'd also have to get permission from EA. not happening.
Beware of paying $55-60 for what might be a scratched up disc-only copy.
from what ive been told, you can always return this instore and get a refund...though im not sure if you will be refunded shipping.

I got all excited for a second but fortunately I came to my senses... not worth the risk of getting a scratched up rental copy with no case or manual for $60...

Well I personally think $60 is steep, but if you're just worried about the condition you can always return it to your local GS/EB if it arrives in bad shape. Just something to keep in mind...

Yeah, but only the case... if I open it and I find no manual and a scratched up disc I'm screwed, right??

what?... theyre return policy online says i can return the game to any B&M store

i will tell you my experiance, every gs where i live have a copy of this game, but are old hollywood video copies, so case sucks as does the disc so be careful

I ordered one a few days ago. It arrived today disc only and had been resurfaced. Needless to say i will be returning it in the morning.

I have a copy for PS2...I actually had more fun playing Marvel Nemesis...as I prefer a game with a storyline. Looking at online reviews...most reviewers give Marvel Nemesis around a 5 but the hundreds of user votes usually average out around 7. If history is any indication, Marvel Nemesis will end up being a $20-30 game a few years down the road just because it has the Marvel name on it. Might not be a bad idea to hold back a couple sealed copies since you can get them so cheap right now.

I really enjoyed MN too, but I think we're breaking some kind of code by admitting it... ;)

the dreamcast version is the best version in my opinion. the ps2 had much longer load times, and it just wasnt the same feel. i never played the xbox version though..

also, you guys noticed that Street Fighter Anniversary (gamestop/eb) is $19.99 new and $29.99 used.. if we're all lucky, maybe capcom has something else planned for this game. they are re-releasing older SF titles lately, last year was SF:Anniversary (third strike and hyper fighting), then this year is the sf:alpha anthology. maybe next year it'll be the "marvel vs. capcom collection".

I had this game once and stupidly traded it when I didnt know its true value. I would buy it now, but the chances of a disc only copy are pretty high...besides, $60...eh...there are other things I want more at the moment.

The Dreamcast version is the best. The PS2 version has many glitches, occasional slowdowns, and longer loading times. The Xbox version runs as well as the Dreamcast. The reason I recommend the Dreamcast version is simply because it's an arcade system. The Dreamcast is more arcade-like than the Xbox.

I believe Capcom won't be touching the marvel license for quite some time, if ever.

The games go for an average of $75 used/mint on Amazon (XBox) . New copies go for insane prices.

I regret opening my copy cause I like others got it for $10 off CC a good two years ago.

Dreamcast has the best version but even the prices for that will cost you the price of a new game ($50) for a used copy.

Such a shame that Capcom lost the license, so instead of playing MVC3 (which was reportedly in development, or at least planned), or any other great Capcom Marvel fighters, like, perhaps, Marvel vs. DC (also rumoured, but no comment from Capcom), we get Marvel: Rise of the Imperfects (a pretty accurate description of the gameplay).

That's cool - I actually just bought a used complete (flawless!) Xbox version. I haven't played it yet, though...

Unfortunately, I'll have to play it on my Xbox (vs the Xbox 360) for the time being because it's not on the BC list yet. I have a PS2 to Xbox convertor for my Tekken 5 Hori stick, but something tells me the DOA4 360 Hori stick will have better response times... we'll see.

im curious as to why it is so expensive?
are eb/gamestop pricing games to rarity now?

i shoulda picked it up a while back, when i got MvC for DC, i was thinking about getting MvC2 for DC, eb had it for about $20 if my memory is correct.

hell... I emailed capcom, and asked them if they had a copy laying around somewhere... asked them if they'd sell it to me if they did. Small miracle.. but you never know.

Man I really should have kept my copy sealed. 2D fighters aren't my thing and I literally played it for only about 5 min and have never touched it again. It was one of my first big deals here, got it during the infamous $5 CC sale awhile back.
