large supply of marvel vs capcom 2 at gamestop/ebgames.com

for some WEIRD reason, gamestop/ebgames online websites just received a very large number of marvel vs capcom 2s in stock. I ordered 2 and both have are shown as shipped (chose value shipping as im cheap). a couple of my friends ordered one too and theyve all been shipped. Its still showing as in stock...so im guessing they have a ton left...any guess as to why?
Just had to pipe in. Yeah, it does suck that he beat you to the punch (stealing from roufuss) but you have to realize you would have done the exact same thing in his situation. maybe he has been looking for the game for a while or something. who knows. if he is a manager, that is his full time job, i do not think you should really make too big of a deal out of it. sure, let someone know to keep an eye on him, but you should not go on a mission to try to cause the guy to get fired. imagine if you were in his situation, what would you have done.

also, on a totally different note, to the person who asked if MVC2 is worth much more factory sealed than opened but minty, there is a massive price difference. you might be able to pull $100 in mint condition if you are lucky. sealed? you could pull $300+ easily. wait until december or january and possibly $500. there is one that just ended from someone with very low feedback and no picture with a $250 buy it now within 1 hour of him adding it. does not show up sealed very often for the PS2. the xbox version, though is not worth too much more sealed (forwhatever reason) and the DC version pulls about $110 (I think thats low and it will raise a lot in the next couple years once people realize how collectible and amazing the DC as a whole was).
He didn't steal from me, I've owned MvC 2 for awhile, I was quoting someone else ;)
Almost had a mint copy yesterday for $40

Was at a local EB paying for a purchase when this guy brings in a bunch of older Xbox games. While the clerk is ringing me up at one register, the manager is scanning in the games for the guy at the other and I hear the customer say something like, "$30 for that old game? - cool!"

I look over and of course it's MvC2 and looks to be in perfect shape (at this point the manager himself was inspecting it closely, checking the disc) so I offer the guy $40 cash for it. The manager then goes on a rant about it being against coporate policy and not allowed in his store and if the guy sold me the game there, we'd both be banned forever. I say no problem, we don't have to do the deal here and tell the guy I'll meet you outside after you trade in those other games.

I wait outside a few minutes for the guy to come out but he's empty handed so I ask him why he traded it in for less credit - did the manager threaten him some more? His reply - "Sorry dude, the manager offered me $40 cash for it too so I just sold it to him."

Doh! - I was out-Cagged by an EB manager.
Man that sucks! I will likewise say that you should report him to corporate regardless of if it does any good.
I bought this game at CC years ago for $10. It is a really sucky game, and you would have to be loco to pay more than $10 for this game.
Well there are a lot of people who disagree. I run a small arcade route here in Texas and I've been looking for a naomi system and MVC2 cartridge just so I can run this game on my route.

I get more requests for this game from people who play at my locations than any other game you can name (DDR included). Also, several of my friends in the business say their MVC2 machines are still bringing in good money.

However, if you think the DC, PS2, or Xbox versions are expensive, try looking up a naomi system with MVC2 cartridge on eBay!
I don't know why people get so excited for MvC2 on PS2 and XBOX. Any true fan would have the DC version.
So true. The PS2 version is the worst of the bunch.
Can someone PLEASE explain to me why people are obsessed over MvC2 for Xbox? It got HORRID to average reviews (3.9 on IGN and 6.3 on Gamespot). Sure not all reviews are correct, but even if they were off by 2 whole points, that's still pretty bad. Why so special?
Well the Dreamcast version got a 9.0/9.5/8.0 review score from EGM and that version isn't online either. And unless you're a complete fighting game nob, you won't be able to tell the difference between the Xbox and DC versions.

IGN reviewers are just a bunch of dickheads.

actually there's some big differences you notice between dc/xbox the biggest being that when you tag out

in DC when you tag out the character coming out can't be hit, but in xbox the character who is leaving the screen can be hit

Yah, I saw two copies of this used at my Gamestop here, and I was suprised. They were $60 each, but I was suprised to see two of them sitting on the top shelf of the PS2 section. I don't really want the game too much, but is that an ok price for it? I see it on ebay for like $70ish.
I'll check this weekend to see if they have more in stock Mospeada and let you know. Probably around Monday or so.
any luck?

[just going to bump a thread instead of starting a new one. lazy sunday feeling.]

after a stint of searching for this hard to find title, good karma finally came my way.

i found a local seller on craigslist. he didn't even know it was a tough title to find. it was listed as marvel v capcom [1]. i had to ask specifically confirm. i offered my fair purchase price of $40, and he thought it was way too much. anyhow, i picked it up yesterday, along with Kingdom Hearts [1, non-GH] for a total of $50. 104 miles round trip at 40 mpg. (both games complete, MvC2 disc good, KH1 disc fair)

so far unlocked Mega Man, Storm, and Chun-Li. Favorite team=Cable, Cyclops, and Iceman. Very playable and enjoyable, but somehow character animation frames are kinda off. Very similar to KOF, team battles.

wow 104 miles to get games. nice find though. I see you're a projectile guy
the dreamcast version is the best version in my opinion. the ps2 had much longer load times, and it just wasnt the same feel. i never played the xbox version though..
How did it have much longer load times? It barely loaded at all on PS2 :whistle2:s

The PS2 version gets a much worse rep than is warranted. Sure it's not a perfect version but it's still as addictive and enjoyable as any other. Unless you're real hardcore you might not even notice many of the differences, and personally I think the PS2 controller is the best one for this game.
