"Wal-Mart has begun receiving launch instruction packages, which are intended to prepare each of its outlets for the chaos that might ensue when the Xbox 360 drops at midnight on November 22nd. Employees have been instructed to distribute numbered tickets (as many as the store has 360 units) starting at 10:00 PM on the 21st. The tickets are divided into two sets (green and silver), in order to differentiate between the core and premium bundles. Rumor has it, a few tickets will be hidden in select Hershey bar wrappers… hope you like chocolate!"

Anybody that pre-ordered from EBGames or GameStop should call today to find out if they're getting one on launch date or not.

I just found out today that I was getting hosed on the pre-order I had at GameStop which I made on September 1st. I called to ask about their allotment and was told that they only received enough 360's to cover 15% of their pre-orders for launch date and they were calling those people which were going to be receiving one to show up for the midnight launch. He said I could come into the store and get the $50 refunded that I put down or wait and see if i get one on a subsequent shipment (which he claimed there would be more shipments prior to X-mas). He couldn't tell me what place I was on the list today, but said I could call next week when the manager was there and he'd share this info with me. Of course this was from the same guy that guaranteed that I'd be getting one a week ago so I'm not putting much faith into what he told me except that I'm not getting a launch date system from there.

I was also at an EBGames today and saw a guy come up and ask if he was getting the one he pre-ordered and saw a guy going through 5 page list and he was on the middle of the second page and wasn't getting one for launch date as well.

Finally, my buddy's friend works at a busy Target in Jacksonville and their allotment for launch date was a puny 24 units. Of that they only received 16 units so far (8 premium and 8 core) and are hoping to get another 8 by launch date. Said that they are passing out tickets at 6AM to cover the units they have to sell so get there early if you want one at Target.

I'm not too torn up over the GameStop pre-order (despite being lied to by the store rep) as I took advantage of the Best Buy Reward Zone pre order this week, so I should have one coming anyway, but if the launch continues to follow this trend, a lot of people are going to unhappy this holiday season.

to anyone who has had experience picking up a system via "ticket" system. can you go in early and take a ticket and come back later, or do you stand in line? just trying to decide what time to go to super walmart. it's out in the middle of nowhere so i'm not toooooo worried.

I've heard about multiple Wal-marts in this area and none seem to think they're forcing bundles, but that could change. It at least gives me some optimism for now though. Also, one told me they were getting about 80 systems, but another said like 15 in a bigger town. I'd guess the smaller number one was clueless though because they also thought they'd get more core systems than premiums which seems to go against the norm.

Ok I just got the inside info @ the Wal-Mart I am planing on getting mine from.

They have or are getting in 45 Xbox 360s ($400) and 20 cores ($300). They are giving out a number when you get there first come first serve. None of that forced bundle bs. This is a much larger number then they told me a week ago (they told me 20 not sure how many that were cores.) I know someone that works @ Wal-Mart and they said this info is not supposed to be shared and they could get fired from sharing this info ;)

I thought Microsoft said they will supply a steady supply of Xbox throughout the coming weeks. If they do, why would anyone be disappointed this holiday.

People are treating it like the Xbox will be sold on this day and only this day. Those who don't get one are SOL and will have a disappointed holiday season.

Whatever.

you forget how crazy people get during the holiday season. Anything "hot" will sell out. both the Xbox and PS2s sold for a pretty premium on ebay last christmas and those weren't even new consoles. Even the PSP (an expensive handheld system) sold out initially and suffers from shortages in the UK even now.

Nobody is saying they'll be super rare, but you will have to pay a premium on ebay if you wait too long.

Sounds like to me many Preorder people are getting shafted though which kind of sucks. Makes me happy I didn't preorder though.
