LOWBALL IS OVER, NO MORE BIDS

TOTALS AND INSTRUCTIONS ARE IN POST #3

START DATE:
8/3/2011 (Wednesday)
END DATE: 8/10/2011 (Wednesday) - Approximately 10pm-11pm EST
PAYMENT METHODS ACCEPTED: Paypal (PREFERRED), Amazon Payment

RULES
1) Simply type in your max bid for the item(s) in this thread. No PMs. No Emails. Just reply in the forum reply section. This is to keep bids public. Obviously post edits and spoilers hiding bids are NOT acceptable. If you made a mistake in your submission, please post again.
2) I will update the first page to reflect your bids as often as possible. Feel free to check the latest bids on the last page(s) if you are unsure of the latest update time.
3) There is no minimum to win any item. You can win them for as little as you bid. So if you bid $1.00 and win it, it's yours for a $1.00 (plus shipping). If someone bids $5 and you outbid them for $10, you may win the item for your $10 bid and pay your bid plus shipping at the end of the sale.
4) The smallest bid increment is $1!
5) Please note that you will be expected to pay the amount you bid plus appropriate shipping if you have the highest offer at the end. Negative feedback may be left for those who choose not to follow through with payment.
6) If you place a bid, you are committing to that item. DO NOT place a bid if you do not intend to keep that bid active. While I understand that sometimes unavoidable circumstances arise, if you are fearful that this may happen, please wait to bid on the last day so you know that nothing unexpected occurred!
7) All bids are welcome (excluding bids from CAGs on my Negative Experience List).

Ending the Auction:
I will not be posting the exact ending time, but I will tell you it will end sometime late (EST) on 8-10-2011. Once I post saying AUCTION OVER - NO MORE BIDS ACCEPTED, that is it and nothing further will count.

Shipping/Payment:

If you win one item, shipping is $4. Each additional item will be $1. If you buy several items (depending on the size), the shipping may be adjusted accordingly. Smaller items will be eligible to receive $2.50 shipping (very small pieces). Larger items or items with strange shaped items will have actual shipping. I provided an estimate and marked the items with a
eusa_whistle.gif
, if you have 15+ feedback of 100% positive, you can pay for the item first, I will ship the item, and then you can pay for the actual shipping afterward. If you have less than 15 positive feedback, you will pay the estimated shipping plus $5, and I will refund the extra money AFTER it is shipped, when I know the actual shipping costs. All items will be sent via USPS with a delivery confirmation number.

SHIPPING NOTE, PLEASE READ: I am in grad school and it may be difficult to ship items and get them out. I am planning on having a mass shipping day on Monday, August 15th, so if you can, please have your payment in by then. If you are unable to make payment by then, it may take me 2 or maybe 3 days to get around to shipping again due to my hectic schedule. Thank you for your understanding.

WHEN SENDING A PAYMENT: Please write your CAG username and what you purchased in the notes section of the Paypal screen
.

The benefit of doing a lowball over eBay is that you don't have to pay any eBay fees, which are ridiculous.

As far as giving advice, we'd need to know what you expect as far as profits.

A lot of those games won't bring much more than 1-5$ a piece, which is probably what you'd get as far as trading them in at GameStop. Games like RDR, BlOps and Reach will fetch a fair price. I'd say $18-26 a piece. That's probably more than you'd see trading them in.

The GameBoy games will definitely do well.

You'll probably see $1-3 a piece for each of the CD's as you've got some pretty cool stuff in there.

I'd GUESS that you'd be safe at $200 profit. But again, that's just my guess.

Hope this helps.

I have tallied up all of the sales! Please send your payments via Paypal to [email protected], and PLEASE to help me out, in the memo section, write down your CAG username and your items just to verify.

Also as I stated in the rules, I will not be able to get out to the post office until next Monday, August 15th. So you have until late Sunday to get the payment to me for that post office run. But the sooner the better! Gives me more time to pack things up.

Do people set like, reserve prices? So if I were to say for the watch, the bidding starts at $200 to make sure I don't get any less than that?

I recall reading in the rules that you're not allowed to start bidding for anything at more than $1, though I might be mistaken.

Honestly, I was also curious if reserves would be allowed, as I'm planning a lowball too, and can't afford to take hits on some of my items.

I'd try contacting a moderator, someone like Dv8mad and seeing if you could work something out. Perhaps you PM him your reserves on any items you may desire to put them on, and mention in your listing that those certain items do have reserves on them. This way, you have someone reputable to vouch that you are not deciding whether or not you want to sell it post-bidding.

I know that lowballs are not considered the same as auctions, so I'm not sure exactly what is allowed and what is not.

If you do come to a conclusion on the matter, let me know. Like I said, I'm interested in the matter as well.

I understand completely, I will find out as soon as I can. By the way I had to remove the GBA games, I tried to find them I guess I either sold them or gave them away awhile back. I added a few more small items.

Actually, I just double checked the rules. It seems that I misread. You are actually required to have a one dollar minimum bid starter on each of your items. So it seems you'd be well within your rights to start any item at whatever value you'd like.

Perfect that helps a ton! I sent that mod a PM so maybe he will give some more detailed information.

I added two more things in the miscellaneous section.

Also if anyone wants pictures, please ask. I don't have the time to take pictures of EVERYTHING, but I will definitely do this on request.
Did you remove some stuff? I dont see some of the stuff you guys were talking about - mainly the Game Boy games and collectibles
The Gameboy games were removed because I just can't find them. I think I either gave them away or sold them. And as far as collectables go, everything is still listed there. Its seriously not much at all.

I have never been this desperate for money in my life so I am literally putting up anything I can find. I can do like football jerseys and basketball jerseys too.

I recently did a lowball that ended a week ago. In all honesty some items went for a lot less than I hoped but others went for more as well.

But as mentioned before I didn't have to deal with any eBay fees, just the PayPal fees. I think eBay charges around 13% plus the PayPal fees.

All in all I am pleased how it turned out. Plus it cleared a lot of stuff and my wife was very happy too!

FYI, dv8mad is not a mod. He is extremely helpful though. I do know that he's typically against setting reserve prices on games, so it's possible the rules are either miswritten or they were misread. Shrike is the mod you're looking for.

There really isn't any way of determining if you'd make more here versus anywhere else. If you can't afford to take a hit, then start up a regular tradelist and list the prices that you're looking for. List the games on Craigslist or Amazon Marketplace at the same time (locations where you don't have to pay fees to list) and give it a week or two to see what sells. Lowball the rest.

My tradelist here on CAG gets very little attention for whatever reason. I just can't seem to get any offers anymore, never really have.

Hmm, Amazon Marketplace may be a possibility. To me eBay lately has been extremely risky, because I often don't get what I wanted out of it. I think I might do that for now. I guess I will just list them for now, and like you said in a week or two, depending on the reactions I get from the crowd here, I will list the rest in a lowball.

So I added (
eusa_think.gif
) next to those that I listed on Amazon. Based on the reaction I get from here I might do a lowball for the remaining games/things.

I guess I will wait 1-2 weeks or so!

Whoa can someone explain to me the Amazon commission? They took $6.99 out just for the commission for a game that sold for $31. So $31 + $4 shipping = $35, but I only get $28?

$6.99 commission is awful, way worse than eBay. Is this normal or did I make some mistake?

EDIT: Absolutely crazy, Red Dead sold for $20 + $3.99 shipping = $24. I only get $18.

Thanks for pointing out the error in the rules. It began as minimal starting price, and then ended up going to $1 or less and then somehow became the strange wording you found.
It has now been fixed. Each item should start at $1 or less.

Would it be possible to start every item at $1 with the exception of my watch?
Would it be possible to start every item at $1 with the exception of my watch?
It might be best to leave out the watch. I hardly ever look at the non-game items unless they're swag or movies.

I'm not sure that CAG would be the best place to unload a $500 watch and expect to get an acceptable price. As I said, in your tradelist would be best if you want to set a price on it and go the CAG route, but Ebay or similar would probably would be your best bet.

You do realize that Amazon tells you exactly how much you'll receive if/when the item sells as you're listing it, don't you? It's spelled out on the confirmation page before you list the item. The commission is pretty comparable to ebay once you consider listing fee, final value fee, and PayPal fee.

Totally missed that, thanks man I will redo my listings there then. Thanks for being patient with me, obviously I never sold on Amazon.com before.

Also last question, it would probably be a little unfair/unethical to list the things I have up on Amazon.com on the lowball, and cancel them in case they sell on there before the lowball is over? Again, never did a lowball before lol.

Well BLOPS sold after I relisted it, pretty reasonable to me. I can start the lowball with the exclusion of Reach (might keep that one) if anyone is interested.

I've been thinking, I think the lowball might start soon. I will remove some of the bigger games (RDR, Reach, Borderlands DLC, maybe Orange Box) and sell those privately or on eBay. The others will remain and I will take pictures of the necessary ones.

How does that sound?

Lowball should start in a few days. This is not the final list, a lot of good stuff will be omitted from the final list.

If you cancel too many items on Amazon, you can get your seller's account banned.

Bump, I put a final draft up of my lowball.

One question for you guys. Should I post a new thread for my lowball, or should I just change the title of this one and start it when its ready?
