I've been playing the first Left 4 Dead for the past couple days and have come to realize that it has little to no plot besides the opening cutscene. Anyways I was wondering if Left 4 Dead 2 actually has some sort of plot or story behind it? I only paid ~$8 for the first Left 4 Dead so I don't really mind it not having a plot, but is L4D 2 actually worth it if I'm only just midly interested in the first game?

Pass if you're only mildly interested, but you should rent/borrow it to check out the new campaigns (esp. Dark Carnival)

If you're searching for a plot, you're missing the point. L4D2 is pretty much more of the same with a few enhancements (namely melee weapons), which is a very good thing if you enjoy surviving zombie invasions with others and/or attacking survivors.

I would consider L4D2 an expansion pack of more campaigns, a new set of survivors, & a few new special infected rather than a new installment. Great for the current price of ~ $22, but a shame when it was released for $60.

A true, deep plot? nope, don't need one.

plot : gtfo of zombie Apocalypse.

It's similar to the first. the levels have better design, and its much more polished overall. new infected, melee, scavenge mode, and the new dlc. 5 campaigns each around 45-75 mins. Well done New Orleans theme.

2 levels stand out probably swamp fever (zombies in a swamp o_O) and hard rain (when the rain kicks in viability, movement, hearing are all impaired and it can lead to some amazing co-op experience).

if you though first was worth $10 then you would probably think it was worth it at 20ish.

rate the 1st game 1-10, 1-4 (don't get it) 5-6 (if you don't want anything else) 7-10 (yep)
overall it's better then the first one.

I played L4D casually and definitely enjoyed it. L4D2 seems like a money-grab in comparison as there's really no large difference. As Kerig said, $22 is good, $60 is a steal (but not in favor of "your" wallet). I, myself, will look into buying it again once it hits $15 somewhere, I can justify that price.
Its worth 20-25 bucks way better than the first one
2 is worth about 20 dollars, then again I paid 5.64 for number 1. If you enjoy the first one, the second is enjoyable too. I love the melee option and the new maps. I still play 1 though as well depending on which friends are online. I never thought either game was worth it's original retail price though.

If you were only mildly interested in the first game then skip the second. You're not going to get the experience you are looking for from the second game if you didn't find it in the first game.

If you're only mildly interested don't even bother. There really isn't anything that's going to make you more interested in the game. Scavenge is really fun if you have people to play with. Also if you get it go for PC from what I hear the xbox live has barely anyone playing.

playing L4D online blows if you are playing with strangers, they all run off like rambo and hoard the supplies. I played the first mostly split screen and it was fun, but mad overrated.

I just picked it up from Gamefly with a $5 off coupon and paid $13 for it. I played with a friend awhile yesterday and it was pretty fun, worth $13 to me but I wouldn't pay much more than that.

If you can find l4d2 for under $25 I say pick it up. But it is very similar to the first one, different characters, maps and some weapons.

Short answer, if you have friends get it. If you're playing solo it won't be as fun, especially with randoms. Scavenge mode is really fun, but with randoms it can be frustrating. If you get the dlc there's also a new mutation mode.
