Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition

CAGiversary!
So I recently just heard about this game, even though it was released 7 years ago. Basically, it was a collection of old games including, The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Ocarina of Time, and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. It was bundled with some Gamecubes.

I loved orcarina of time and I've always wanted to try majora's mask. So naturally, I really want this game.

Apparently it could be obtained for free if you registered your gamecube + 2 other nintendo games, or if you subscribed to Nintendo Power (damn I wish I knew about that then). Apparently that offer expired early 2004 though.

I've been looking around prices online and I guess it's a pretty rare game (regardless of the fact that it was more-less given out for free). The cheapest I could find it was on ebay at $25 and $6 internationally shipped to Canada (even that looked like a great deal compared to other sellers). Ebgames sells it at $35 used if they even have it in-stock. This to me seems like an outrageous price for a game that is 7 years old and could have been obtained for "free."

So my question is, does anybody know where I can find it for a cheap ass price? I'd prefer if it were in Canada, but if the international shipping is low, I don't mind. Or perhaps is there some other Nintendo promotion that I missed?

Good luck, my friend. I found a copy at a flea market where I live in good condition for $18, and Ive seen others in various places, but I think finding it under $20 is going to be very difficult, especially for shipping to canada from US.

If youre very lucky, garage sales maybe? Finding it at a retail store for under $25 is going to be impossible right now.

I have two sealed in a box in the closet.

The bottom line is regardless if you could have got it free, you didnt. It really was not wide known back then that it was free outside of the CAG's or "hardcore" gaming crowds.

$25 is way down from what it was selling at. I sold a few of the guides for $45 a piece or more back then.

Its a hard to find collection of great games. Either download them to generate new sales for Big N, or buy it used. It was a limited edition deal and your not really going to find it cheaper.

You know you can use an edge card combing with cagsaver coupon codes to get it from Gamestop for 26% off... Could always return it if it was not in the condition you wanted.

That may be cheaper and safer than ebay for you.

I don't know about it being bundled with gamecubes, but I got mine from Circuit City for preordering Wind Waker. I picked up the collection when I preordered, and picked up Wind Waker a week later when it was released.

The sellers on ebay seem to have a lot of good feedback, so I'm not overly worried about that (plus a 7 day return policy looks nice). It would be cheaper to get it locally though. Also, I can only find the game listed on the .com website, and not on the .ca website. I'll call up my local stores though and see if they have it.

IGN said it was bundled with some: http://cube.ign.com/objects/608/608263.html

I got a similar game when I pre-ordered wind waker from ebgames. It was only the ocarina of time and masters quest (which I enjoyed very much).

EDIT: I've been hunting through classifieds and I was able to see some people selling it for $15. Unfortunate for me, they're all at least a 2 hour drive away.

I got my copy when I purchased the GC when it hit $99 at a Black Friday sale (it was "free" with it) I think like 7 years back.

Now that I think about that.... Holy crap... That was a long time ago! (o_O)

Good luck in your quest!

It's not worth the money, IMO. Especially if you want it for Majora's Mask which can have emulation problems and lead to losing your data. I'd just buy an N64 and the cart or get it on Virtual Console if you have a Wii.

I got mine bundled with my GameCube. It was great since I had missed Ocarina the first time around. Never did finish Majora's Mask though.

I figured I'd just bump this instead of making another new topic. Quick question:

I was looking to get the Gamecube versions of the Master Quest disc, and the Collector's edition. The Master Quest one I obviously want because it has the MQ version which isn't available on any other disc/cartridge. But I was just wondering opinions on the Collector's Edition.

I am a collector, and Zelda is one of my favorite games. I already have the OOT/MM cartridges, so the only new thing I would get from the CE would be Zelda 1+2. I plan on owning those cartridges one day, for collector's/playing purposes... in that case, is it even worth it to get the CE?

The Master Quest version is bundled with the upcoming 3DS remake of Ocarina of Time.

If you want it for your collection, then there's no reason not to get it. I wouldn't recommend to play it. If you get OoT/MQ, you have that. As I mentioned in an earlier post, Majora's Mask can have emulation problems and wipe your data. I couldn't stand playing LoZ or AoL with a GC controller.
