Series 6 minifigures or REALLY good fakes.

All I can say is those are amazing!
OMG those are amazing. They look pretty legit to me! And that skater punk chick is awesome - she looks like Knives Chau from Scott Pilgrim, hahaha!

You guys have any suggestions for shipping legos. Sending out a Tower Rescue in a trade and it's like two inches too big to fit in any of my boxes except some huge box from Amazon that's like 10x the size.

I suggest trading with me since i dont need the damn box, hahaha.

You can wrap it in brown paper and ship it that way. Just go to your local supermarket and get some paper bags. I've sent out a few sets that way and they've arrived in great condition. There's always a chance the box will get squished, but I think for the money savings, it's the best way to go.

This is probably the best suggestion, unless you do bags only. Just make it clear to the person you are trading with that it might arrive squished do to the Post Office. That's the bad part about trading Legos, you might be saving money doing some trading but if the shipping is to high it might not even be worth it.

But do a lot of people care about the boxes? Just throw the pieces and everything in a "one sized shipped" box and call it a day. Just ask the buyer what he/she wants.

Given what people pay for some of the sets that are complete in box or better yet, still factory sealed, a lot of people care.

The brown paper suggestion is ideal for shipping it in the original box, however I would definitely ask the person if they want the box, and if so, that that is the method it will be shipped. And offer to ship it insured, making sure it is marked fragile/do not crush
Wow. This has to be the most ill conceived piece out of TS3 set. Even at 75% off, several of them remained at the Local Target as of Sunday...the only thing that remains.
It doesn't even look like a Lego set. There are barely any buildable parts in there. It's more of a play set than a creative building set.

Not to mention it's a very poor rendition of the scene it's trying to depict. It's almost as bad in that regard as the Prince of Persia Race Against Time set.

Oh God, don't remind me. Yeah, both of those sets are pretty "meh". I would take the trash compactor and add it to a Lego City setup, maybe in the "industrial zone". The fact the figs in that set are "dirty" also makes it less desirable. Whenever I pull out some of the Toy Story minifigs for my daughter, if I happen to give her a "dirty" Woody, alien, Hamm or Lotso from the set, she complains "daddy not the dirty one!!!"

Speaking of the Target clearance, I've been finding plenty of the sets in question not marked down at certain Targets. Makes for fun return/rebuy adventures at other stores. Also, is the Pharoah's Quest Pyramid (the big $100 flagship set in the line) supposed to be on clearance at Target?!? One store had a clearance tag on its regular tag, of course it was gone. I'd love to get that one for $25 or so.

Yes, the Pharoah's Quest Pyramid is on clearance at some Targets. I picked one up for $25. It was on clearance at one Target and not at the one less than two miles away...

I haven't see the Pyramid on ANY shelves since PQ first came out. My TRU had a few, but they never restocked. I wouldn't mind getting that one either. Lots of tan and those cool Anubis figs.

I bought that for my son. It's not the greatest for sure. The garbage truck from TS3 is a far better piece. Bought those at the same time and I wish we bought 2 trucks instead.

How often (if at all) have you guys seen Lego at a Ross store? My local Ross never carries Lego, but when I went to Las Vegas on a vacation we were in a Ross and they had a Lego Power Miners Titanium Rig set for $60. I normally don't buy from this product line, but for that price it seemed like a deal. But that was the one and only time I've seen it at a Ross.

I saw an Imperial Battle Pack at Ross earlier this year, but someone stole the minifigs. Last year I bought the Separatist's Shuttle at TJ Maxx.
does Big Lots ever carry Lego?
They do, but it's been years since I've found anything dramatic. My closest Big Lots has the first $10 Atlantis set for $7, and that's the first non-Bionicle set I've found there in a long time.

Apparently, my mom found Woody's Roundup, the Trash Compactor, and the friggin' TS3 TRAIN Lego sets at either a Ross or TJ Maxx (have to ask her as I can't remember which, pretty sure it was TJ Maxx) last year just prior to Christmas for some ridiculously low amount - something like $10 or $15 each, and maybe $20 for the train set. I didn't believe it but she showed me the price stickers, you know how they put the "Retail Price/Our Price" sticker on everything? IIRC the train was $20, Woody's Roundup was $10 or $15, and the trash compactor was $10.

I told her to go back and buy up every single Lego set they had, but when she went back they were all gone. She knows better now though . She's been raiding the Targets near her for me, hahahaha!

Oh and I found an Isla de Muerte yesterday for $4.98, couldn't believe it was still on the shelves. It was right in the front of about 10 of the Fountain of Youths, so people at the store must have thought they were the non-clearance sets since I don't think Fountain of Youth is clearanced (at least at any Target I've seen). I got excited thinking I just scored about 10 of the Isla Muertes for $5 each, but nope there was only the one. Good enough for me though!

Has anyone found the Captain's Cabin or the Mill on clearance at Target? Seems there are those 4 POTC sets (Fountain of Youth, Captain's Cabin, The Mill, and Queen Anne's Revenge) that aren't on clearance at all.

I bought one Fountain of Youth set weeks ago on clearance. Have not seen the other three or isla de lamuerta on clearance.

finally bit on Millennium Falcon at Target. Had some gift cards lying around from who knows what, plus my 5% off red card. $66 after gift cards. Not bad at all.

I just saw skiizim's post on the game collections thread (impressive to say the least) and it gave me an idea. I'll start a thread in the Lego group for people to post pictures of their collections. I'm curious to see how you guys store and display your sets and parts.

As far as my sets go I keep most of them stored in the garage in boxes. My daughter and I build sets and keep them displayed but they eventually get put away. The Slave I has been displayed since I bought it last year, we also have the Alien Conquest Tripod, Mothership (really cool btw) and SpongeBob Gloveworld.

The new sets I haven't stored yet stay being doors (I'm sure I'm not the only one here) and inside a few of the closets.

4 40ish gallon rubbermaid containers. :)

It's a real mess. I'm missing all of my 1x2 jumpers with the center stud. No clue how I did that.

putting moms to work! LOL. nice finds!

Right now my setup is like the following:
- My old late 80s/early 90s childhood collection is sorted by set in plastic tubs from Walmart based on size of set. Some of the smaller sets are combined. The non-match pieces are all in a midsize plastic tub sorted by color first then by 3 types (bricks, plates, and misc pieces) in ziploc bags.
- All my newer stuff (started back earlier this year) is like this:
1) I have a Besta unit with glass doors (from Ikea) with 8 space boxes. I display my models in it (minus the Death Star as it doesn't fit). The Death Star is out in the open on my build table. It took forever to build so it isn't being pulled apart anytime soon. I just have to watch for dust.
2) Broken down $100+ sets are pieced out in ziploc bags and put back in original box. Same goes for broken down Star Wars sets (any price). Boxes are stored in a closet.
3) All other sets broken down are pieced out by piece type in Stack On boxes which sit on my build table.

I found some unmarked City Campers for 12.xx and I hope they will survive to half off.

Rise of the Sphinx was 40 at Walmart.

Yeah the camper was one of the odd ones that didn't go to 75% off, at least in my neck of the woods. $11.98 and $12.52 at the two stores I've found it. I recall that around the previous winter clearance, its DPCI was ringing up at a couple of stores for $4.xx, but I couldn't find any. This time I didn't pass up on it, and will get it "price adjusted" if it drops further. If not, yeah it sucks paying almost as much for it as for the freaking Burrows and Flo's V8 Cafe (and actually paying MORE for it than the Fire Boat, Prison Tower Rescue, Off Road Fire Truck, POTC London Escape etc.), but the camper is such a cool little set and my daughter LOVES it.

Picked up the PQ Scorpion Pyramid set @ Target last night for $24.98. It was price tagged at $67 on clearance, but the item scanner gave me the even better news. Win!!! :D

I forgot to mention these from Walmart. Here's hoping they keep dropping...

7948 Kingdoms Outpost Attack - $14
7947 Kingdoms Prison Tower Rescue - $35
Kingdoms Prison Carriage - $7
7596 Trash Compactor Escape - $35
7594 Woody's Roundup - $35
3847 Magma Monster - $7

and somebody on TNB reported these:
Pharaoh's Quest Scorpion Pyramid: $55
Harry Potter Burrows: $30
Scarab Attack: $3
Freeing Dobby: $7

Your first set of prices is mostly what I've been seeing encendido. But that second set is what they should be. I remember this Xmas when all Walmarts did a pretty consistent job of clearancing legos at just around 50% off. I know I'd pick up another Slave 1 if it was 50% off instead of $20 off like it is now.

Edit: yeah, $20 off I meant

$20 OFF, not $20...right? At $20 I would buy every single Slave 1 I could find in SoCal.

Only sets I really want (that I haven't acquired as of yet) that are clearanced at Target are the Airport (completely wiped out at every store), the Pyramid, Harry Potter Hogwarts Rooftop (204-00-0402), and the Cars 2 Ultimate Francesco. I'm not looking to get extras (except for maybe the POTC sets, since I grew out of Legos before the Pirates line first came out...and I want an ARMY of cannibals, damn it!) because of the effort involved in doing return/rebuys. But if I can score those sets (at 75% off!!!) all the kiddies in the family will be very very happy. And the damn POTC Fountain of Youth set isn't on clearance at any of the 12+ Targets within a half hour of me.

And it DEFINITELY pays to be nice to Target employees. I attempted a return/rebuy at a Target this morning for the Ultimate Lightning McQueen, and the guy said they don't do price adjustments on clearance, and if I return it I would have to buy another one off the shelf or wait for the returned one to go back on the shelf. I tried to see if he would sell it back to me right there politely asking if that would be possible, but he said he couldn't, so I thanked him and just returned it. I went to the Lego aisle, and he came up a couple of minutes later saying "we're not supposed to do this, but here you go, since I know you wanted it" and gave me the set. I thanked him profusely and got it for $7.48 + tax - 5% discount. A hell of a lot better than the $29.99 super inflated MSRP on the it. Between that one, the Flo V8 Cafe, and hopefully the ultimate Francesco I will attempt to score later today, my nephews should be very very happy this XMas. I just hope I get to help them build them! Not all that into Cars personally, but I must say the Cars Lego sets are cool as fuck.

I agree. Walmart sucks for having the deals that are reported here. I have checked a few walmarts when stuff is posted here and it is a big waste of time and gas.

I found a slave 1 for $20 at target !! Then I got home and all the figures were missing :( I'll probably just return it at another target to get a complete set ...

Ditto on Walmart clearance. I swore that I'd never visit that store again during my last trip. Clearance equals $.04 cents off msrp.
All lego sets are 20% off at borders...
But even with 20% off, you are paying more than MSRP. Hogwarts Castle 4867 is $62.99, MSRP is $49.99 so 20% off $62.99 is $51.19. Hope you didn't get conned because all sales are final from liquidators.

B&N has the new Ewok Attack for $22.50 ($25MSRP) and that 30% off coupon is still working. Not saying it's worth it, but it's probably as cheap as it'll be for a while if you can pad to get free shipping.

they also have most of the newer sets up finally. All of the Kingdoms sets are on now, so you can get the Mill Village Raid for $49 with free shipping, which seems like a pretty solid deal. I have been debating getting the new carriage, but even at 30% off I am not really sure it is worth it.

I went to a Target yesterday and there whole Lego isle was filled, I think the only Lego they put on clearance was attack from the squid.

When i put the coupon in it over rides the 10% off the star wars sets and only allows 30% off total. So decent but not great.
