Really?

They had a $5 off $15 LEGO set coupon right before Thanksgiving, screw them for ending that! Screw them!
No more free Legos in the dumpster Damn you Target:hot:

No minifig wave 3's at Target, but as I perused the regular Lego aisle, low and behold I find an Echo Base! It must have been hidden in the stockroom or in the store somewhere as this is the only store in SoCal that still lists it in the inventory checker as "available". I was hoping something like this would happen but I couldn't believe my luck.

Clearance stickers on it with the top one saying $17.48, it didn't ring up in the system (rings up as "how much is this - enter the price of the item") and the guy in electronics started entering $17.48 as the price. I told him that I think it was last $12.48 in the system, as I've been looking for it, so he punches it in on the hand scanner and sure enough it comes up $12.48. Score!

Girlfriend got me a Halo Mega Blocks set for Valentine's Day...so I beat her. But seriously, it's a nice little set. It's the Rocket Warthog. After putting it together, though, it's plain to see why LEGO is superior. The instructions are not always clear, and the pieces simply don't fit together as nicely.

I've actually been tempted to buy some of these sets, but everything I've ever read and heard says they're just simply not as nice as legos. They're much cheaper, and some of them certainly look cool.
LOL sorry about bitching about the podracer set, I must have confused the original's MSRP with either the lone Anakin set or when the original was clearanced. 810 pieces in this new one, wow it sure doesn't look like it has anywhere near that many pieces.

BTW I found a store with a couple of sealed/full boxes of Series 2 minifigs for $2.95 a piece...should I pull the trigger and wipe them out?

Thanks for the Valentine's Day update, I will check Target.
If you do, pull me one Spartan please. It's the only one I need to complete Series 2.

I found a Construct a Zurg at Walmart for 5 bucks and the Creationary game at 20. I bought Zurg and hopefully Creationary will survive to 10 dollars.

If I get 'em, I will. Still not sure it's such a good deal though...although considering they are out of production and sold out everywhere else or marked up significantly, I might just pull the trigger.

How many figs are in each box? 50?

60 in total... 3 rows of 20.

The clearances at my local stores (Kmart, WalMart, Target) have been pathetic. I'm annoyed at how many sets are being "clearanced" at basically MSRP.

Does anyone have an extra Cyborg, Pilot, Sumo Wrestler, or Gorilla Suit guy I could trade for (or buy, if all else fails?). I could trade Tennis Player, Mummy, Race Car Driver, Chieftain, Baseball Player, or Snowboarder.

I'm not looking to trade but I could sell you those figs for cost ($2.99) and shipping. They're still sealed. PM me if you want to work something out.

Yeah, they are definitely not as nice as LEGOs. She got me the set, because she knows I like Halo, and she figured I had enough Star Wars LEGOs. All and all in, not awful, but I do not see myself getting anymore of these, unless I see them super cheap or something.

A Target that never clearanced the Galactic Enforcer (it was only temporary price reduced to 69.99 for a few weeks then went back to $1000) now has it price reduced to 50.xx until mid-March, according to the tag.

I bought a couple smaller Halo sets mainly for the figures. They're fun toys, but they'll probably always be segregated from my Lego.
I'm going through clearance withdrawal :p

You can all hush up haha!
Kmart has had the Tie Defender at $37 for a while now. They also dropper the prices of most of their Atlantis sets. There are a few that are 50% off.

I don't see this on their website. Is this a store sale?
I got my Groupon fail email tonight. The 2 I bought are now zero and they are refunding my purchase. Oh well.
What do you mean? Why did the groupon fail? I bought one is there something wrong with it? I did not use mine yet.

I think it's because they tried to use more than one at a time. If you only have one you should be fine.

Yeah, the Tie Defender is on clearance at Kmart for $37. You could wait for one of those xx% of clearance toys sales to get it cheaper.

Border's just announced it's filing for bankruptcy...glad I used up my holiday border bucks already.

I finally got around to calling my "local" lego store. They said they had nothing on clearance. Is there any chance that they have some of the older sets in stock? Or do they typically have just what is offered online?
I think it's because they tried to use more than one at a time. If you only have one you should be fine.
I only used one when I bought the Space Police Station. I bought 3 of them (by sending as a gift), but since the credit card was the same, they wound up zeroing out the other 2 and are refunding the money initially paid. Glad I didn't actually send those two as gifts. That would have been embarrassing. At least one went through. :applause:

Looks like the the good Borders that's actually closest is shutting down... bummer.

the other one is way on the east side and too far to drive for just them.

Lol @ the New Orleans store closing; it's in this huge house that was completely gutted; they basically tore down the entire building except the facade, and rebuilt it. And it just opened last year.
Wow ... I guess by 'Under performing' they meant every single Borders in my area
The one near my house isn't closing, go figure.

You know what's funny about that list? Milpitas isn't on it and that's a crappy store, especially when compared to SR. Sunnyvale didn't make the list too, so that's a good thing

In general, I've hardly gone to Borders in the past years, so this doesn't really affect me much.

Yeah, I was thinking about it and I bet the cost of rent is playing a bit factor in which stores they're shutting down too, since Santana Row and Los Gatos are both nice stores but probably cost a hell of alot to maintain. I haven't been a regular Borders shopper for a couple years myself but it is sad to see them go since it means one fewer place to find reasonably priced LEGOs. Soon it's just going to be TRU and the LEGO store ... until the next Target clearance at least .. annnd I guess there's Walmart but I try to avoid it as much as possible ;)

Thanks, but I am already happily committed to a sexual relationship with a woman who not only speaks English, but won't try to infect my computer with malicious code and/or steal my identity.

For the people in Atlanta. Legoland Discovery Center was announced the other day for Phipps Mall opening March 2012. The filed a building permit earlier in the week to demo part of the food court since Legoland will be across from the AMC. Its going to be about 32,000 square feet.

Well, the Borders near me is closing. The only reason I'll miss it is to get next year's advent calendar for less than retail...now I'll have to hope for a Target sale/coupon or buy it in a bogo sale at TRU.

Damn internet... Why do I have to pay for the full month when it doesn't work? TnB has the new Car set pictures.

Struck out again at Kmart, no Atlantis clearance for me. They had roughly 30 of those Atlantis Exploration HQ sets--and nothing else, maybe a handful of Toy Story sets. I really want that HQ set, but not at the full $49.

I think the CARS line is cute, but with Alien Conquest and POTC coming out, I doubt I'll pick up one CARS set.
Has anyone seen a Death Star at Toys R Us lately?
I don't think I've ever seen one, I think if there ever is one it would be an online return?!?!
ಠ_ಠ
Ha ... yes, they increased the prices but you could find decent deals on smaller sets when a higher % coupon was floating around. It's not like TRU has reasonable prices considering their LEGO tax on just about everything, which means their sales normally run anywhere between 10 to 40% savings MAX on sets and that's only if you're paying attention to the true MSRP. And normally it's B1G1, so even at 50% off it's actually only a true 25% savings per set and with their raised prices, the most you can save is really about 20% ... unlike Borders ... so yeah I'm sticking with my original statement ;)

There is a 4 day sale at TRU Friday - Monday with 30% off select lego sets. It lists the skus in the email they sent out: 538251, 537988, 536574, 326977, 326901, 326883, 328217, 046336. You can make out the sets in the picture the Power Miners Command Rig, a few Bionicle Stars sets, Space Police Hyperspeed Pursuit, and a city set I can't make out.

Yeah that TRU is misleading. Most of those sets are on clearance already, but the "sale price" for the weekend is off of the original TRU price. So I would wait until they drop the price further or do their semi-regular 20% off clearance items.
