LEGO Deals 3

Everything but the sticker sheet … (what can I say, it’s an addiction). Put in a request with LEGO, so we’ll see if they come through with a replacement since it’s still a set in production.
That reminds me i need to request a sticker sheet for the last City Space Command Central set.

LEGO has the new Friends Hotel up. It's really cute, 1300 pieces for $100 and you change it with the seasons. I just wish it was all purple or all pink.

July 1st. $200 1709 pieces

$30 200ish pieces.

If I end up buying the ice castle I will sell off those god awful minidolls and just use the Anna and Elsa from the Disney cmf series

It’s funny, as I’ve mentioned I got a bit addicted to collecting the last wave of Jurassic World sets and I actually just binged 3 seasons of Camp Cretaceous on Netflix. I was looking forward to those characters appearing in LEGO form (also surprised they hadn’t already, outside of Bumpy in the lab set) … but then I saw the new JW sets LEGO posted yesterday … and I’m not feeling any of them.

The dinosaur colors are all off putting and seem more cartoony. The Camp Cretaceous kids are hit and miss. Even the T-Rex skeleton is far worse than the 3 piece set that came out a few years ago. So I think that whole wave is a pass for me.

Any updates on the rumored JP visitors center set that was supposed to be super expensive? 😉

Edit - Rant continued - Also, why do Owen and Claire have to be in every goddamn Jurassic World set that’s been released in the last two years. Two of the worst characters from the movies … and I have like 5 of each. It’s just stupid … I used to kind of like Chris Pratt, but now he’s just fucking annoying. You would think they were the only two characters in the entire franchise. I really hope the new sets that come out for the next movie are better. Although I might buy the T-Rex skeleton in this wave just for the semi-cool head … 😑

That T-rex skeleton is terrible looking (besides the skull). Guessing the previous model in the fossils set was deemed to complex for the target demographic.

I oddly also like the JW sets. I like the boat set as we don't have a larger JW themed one. Others are meh. Why does this set have a slide?

I would like the fence seen on the back of this one - https://www.thebrickfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Carnotaurus-Dinosaur-Chase-76941-2.jpg

To answer your Chris Pratt question, LEGO is contractually obligated to include him in every set.

Yeah, the vehicles outside of the boat in this wave seem poorly designed … almost feels like they’re in the 4+ line or whatever LEGO makes for little kids above Duplo.

I’d really like to see a Jurassic World building or sets with interconnecting fences between sets. The slide is ridiculous and doesn’t even reflect some relevant part of Camp Cretaceous. I guess the LEGO treehouse could be modified for a tv-series tie in, but I really want a Visitors Center, jeep/explorer or a mosasaurus set.

Yup. Stick me on the JW LEGO design team, and I'll pop out sets people really want. We'll get fences, the visitor center, mosasaurus, JW tram, and Gennaro on a potty with the T-Rex under the legacy JP sub-line.

I think it's more LEGO and Universal than the designers. We have gotten primary sketches through the years, hell just look at the Vidiyo designer sets and then they are just dumbed down to the mess we get.

I feel that's Jurassic theme. There was that one wave where there were a few sets with fences and walls, none matched but it was close to what the theme should be. Every year since the sets get worse and worse.

Kind of digging that Iron Monger set that’s coming out in August. I’ve avoided buying most Marvel sets outside of Spider-man sets, but I’ve wanted an iron man minifig and I like the throwback to Iron Man 1.

In the second season of the show the children build a new camp and the camp is a treehouse with a slide.
Because of all the set pieces in the show, a throw away slide was their best option 😜 … I wish LEGO had tried a bit more with these sets. I get that the dinos will always be the main draw, but they could have built something a little more representative of the ground tree house (which is absolutely ridiculous in the show as well … escaped dinos everywhere … and they build an open air shelter that’s like 5 feet off the ground). They should make the monorail from the show … that would be a sweet set.

I got bored in yesterday's 100 degree heat and watched the first two seasons. Making a treehouse on the pile of the old treehouse was so dumb none of these children should have survived 6 hours alone let alone 6 months. Everyone on the mainland think they were eaten by dinosaurs? No one came to look with the military and a shit ton of guns?

The dumbest part of the show is in one episode grown up Bumby fits through one door, then 30 second later can't fit through the same sized door to a control room.

Jurassic sets have never been amazing but I do feel like LEGO thinks only 5 year olds like dinosaurs and by the time you are 8 you think they are lame. They get worse each wave. What really pisses me off is they are supposed to be teens and the minifigures don't use the teenager legs.

I finally bought the Gingerbread house! It's finally back in stock for like the 2nd time since Halloween.

Flowers and Bonsai are also in stock.

Bumpy going from born in front of their eyes to an adult (teen?) was ridiculous. No way they all survive that long. Is it only six months? Felt like that growth is two years. Either way - all eaten. Second worse is that scared kid (Bumby's pal) surviving the fall out of the tram. Yea, dead or mortally wounded until a dino finds and eats him. Dead either way.

Isn’t it some kind of play mat or something?

I can’t really put my finger on why, but I actively dislike LEGO Masters … it annoys me.
Will Arnett is annoying, but the builds are incredible (for the most part). My only knock on the LEGO part is that the judges prefer artistic models or functional fun-to-play looking designs.

Edit: The above should be "prefer artistic models over functional fun-to-play looking designs."

Agree. Will Arnett needs to tone it down. I've also been watching Crime Scene Kitchen and that host (Joel McHale) is the same way.

In the second to the last episode the children asked how long it was and it was only 6 months. I know it's a show and I enjoy it because the Jurassic franchise is really dumb, but some of it is just too much. There is a skyscraper on the island yet they think a junk pile treehouse is a great place to live? No power but the door locks still need keycards? No one bothered to send a rescue team after the park was evacuated to make sure everyone got out?

You must not be watching the show fully, the children were in Wu's lab in the first season when Bumby was born and Wu explained the dinosaurs all are bred to grow quickly.

I kinda want to watch this show now. Netflix?
Yep, it’s not amazing (Castlevania … now that was amazing) … but I appreciate that it’s actually canon to the films. Some of the dinos made for the show are pretty stupid, but then the last two movies haven’t exactly been masterpieces. The plot is decent for a “kids” show, but it could have been better if it had a little bit more of an edge. There are far too many times where either the characters act incredibly dumb or the narrative itself is questionable. With that said, they sprinkle in really hardcore JP fan references every now and then that will keep you watching (like one book-only wink and nod that’s pretty damn good).

I love Jurassic World. It's stupid as hell and I would still like to know what happened to Site B. Fallen Kingdom though is a horrible mess of a movie that makes very little sense. How many dinosaurs could really fit on that boat / mansion that dinosaurs would be all over the world? Makes very little sense and worse of all, it's boring!

The show is stupid, but it's a kids show and it is actually pretty fun. Sure the humans run faster than dinosaurs, but children won't be eaten on a children's show. It's the best kids' show since the sequel series of the 1998 Godzilla.

What was the book only nod?

Season 3 … when they arrive at the original visitors center … I won’t spoil it beyond that 😎

Hmmm.... I'm on the last episode I have no idea what you are talking about. It was 100 when watching it and I haven't read the book in 15-20 years so just use spoiler code and tell me.

“In "Clever Girl," Yaz says that the original park owner broke his ankle and got eaten by compies, a nod to John Hammond's fate in the Jurassic Park novel. When Darius points out that John Hammond died of natural causes (according to film canon) and asks where she heard this incorrect info, Yaz replies "Read it somewhere."

You can read more Easter eggs from Season 3 here -https://collider.com/jurassic-world-camp-cretaceous-season-3-easter-eggs-explained/

I watched that season almost 9 months ago. Seems that scene wasn't memorable enough for my long-term memory, but I guess that explains it.

I’m beginning to have the same reaction to some of these builds … either LEGO needs to start adding some level of real-world functionality to their “things I can find in my house” line or just focus on more creative builds.

That’s my issue with the NES … awesome nostalgia-inducing build … but it has no function. Throw in a functioning NES mini in the middle … omg, sweetest LEGO set ever. I already have limited space to display these things and every time I see a “LEGO cityscape” it makes me cringe a little (also IKEA shelves filled with lots of LEGO sets make me cringe … don’t know why, I probably have a problem) … so why would I want to clutter my place with a fake NES, mini piano, typewriter … etc.

Now if it could actually type … that might be cool. Maybe my expectations are too high … but what’s next … LEGO iron … LEGO silverware … LEGO washing machine … LEGO Macintosh (I hate it already, but you know that shit would make millions of dollars).

I find the real world Lego sets to be incredibly creative. I don't buy them, but there's plenty of fun building techniques in them.

I like the typewriter, but a I don't $200 like it. I don't care if there are 30 new prints on it, it shouldn't be $200 for it. It doesn't have the awe of other $200 sets.

It 'functions' just like how the piano 'functions'.

Remember we are also getting a $200+ globe set sometime. I wish LEGO would make a Ideas set was that

I'm okay with cityscapes, at least those are MOCs. I had an attic once for my LEGOs and chose an ex over it. Stupid. Always pick the LEGO room over a human. There is a hugely popular Youtube channel, M&A that does LEGO Star Wars. He has all these shelves full of LEGO in his bedroom... in his parents house and people online think he is some kind of god. I want to smack the shit out of him after 2-3 videos.

I have a 4 foot long section of a Main Street I'm doing and just LEGOs all over.

So I built my EVERYONE IS AWESOME! set. Its box had a big crease in it which was very annoying. LEGO also had the instructions in its own bag, but no cardboard backing so that was useless. Only boxed set I built in years that the bags were not numbered.

It looks better if you go, rainbow, black, brown, then trans colors. But you will need a free extra red pieces.

I think there is a difference between seeing a typewriter or shoe made of Legos at a convention and thinking "That's cool." or thinking "I have to buy that."

I thought these posts were all a joke. Didn’t know it was real
The set is a joke so the posts were all a joke... but also real.

Within a year the old LEGO shoe I think will be selling for $500+.

Also the god damn show has an insane amount of prints, only one sticker (the stand info) and that's annoying.
