LEGO Deals 3

Kmart clearance is at 50% off. Picked up Quinjet for $23.50, Attack on Weathertop for $28.50, and a couple of Star Wars sets this morning.
Kmart used to be a goldmine years ago, but lately my local stores haven't clearanced anything. They used to constantly put sets on clearance but not sticker them so they would sit on the shelves forever.

Quite a bit of clearance available at Kmart this time around, it appears.  At the two I went to, saw the following available:  Flying Dutchman, Bikini Bottom Undersea Party, A-Wing, Saesee Tiin's Jedi Starfighter, Gungan Sub, Republic Striker Class Star Fighter, Sith Fury Class Interceptor, Gandalf Arrives, Shelob Attacks, Mirkwood Spiders, Attack of the Wargs, Batwing, Captain America Cycle, all monster fighters(except the castle), all the Chima speedorz blister packs, and my favorite find...The Long Ranger stagecoach escape.

There were also plenty of games and Duplo.  Things that were on clearance at one store, weren't at the other in many cases.  And as always, some things were marked clearance and some weren't, so best to scan anything you are interested in.

I found the helms deep set for $62, saesee tinn set for $14, and the hulk break out for $23.50. Somebody had stolen the hulk and Thor from that set though so I asked for a discount. They ended up selling it for $20. I have to call Lego to see if they will send me those two figs.
I scanned the gungan sub, as well as some other older sets but they were still full price.

Got attack of the wargs ($23.50), bikini bottom undersea party ($23.50), a-wing ($12), gungan sub ($33) and city fire plane ($28.50)

Man, I nearly spit my Coke Zero all over my laptop from laughing when I read this.

Anybody wanna trade me a Helm's Deep??? I can't find this SOB set on the cheap anywhere.

All those days of "non-finds" paid off today - found many of the above at K-Mart, as well as Olivia's House for $35 - lots of great pieces in there.

As mentioned a few pages back, the Black Gate does look a bit silly with just one tower, so should there be anyone out there interested in trading retail value for value, I'd be interested in another Black Gate. I'd trade:

2 Stagecoach Escapes or 2 Uruk Hai Armys, or 2 Mirkwood Spiders or 2 of any combination of those... If that doesn't work for you I also have an extra "wargs" and an extra Olivia's house, but that would have to be discussed. Drop me a pm, if interested. Happy hunting all!

Would you guys trade the Battle of Alamut set for the Quinjet?  There's somebody on TnB that has one up for trade and lists the Alamut set on his wanted list.  I don't know if he'll go for it, but I offered it anyway.

I'm torn though, the Quinjet is still out in (some) stores, so I may find it on clearance, but I probably won't get the Alamut set back.  There are some pretty nice pieces in there too.

I would definitely not trade that. Not in a million years. My stores here have all the quinjets still, and clearanced at around 49.00.

Heck if you want it that bad, I will trade you quinjet and another 10-15 dollar set in a heartbeat lol.

What would you guys suggest for storage on a mess of legos. My daughter has a ton, but always tears everything apart so it's impossible to keep the sets together. I know they make that big lego head that supposedly sorts pieces by size, but it seems like it really wouldn't work.

If you just want to dump them somewhere I suggest using one of those containers you can slide under your bed. If you really want to organize by size/color you can buy some larger storage organizers but depending how much you have it may not suit your needs.

Thanks, I guess I'll hold onto it for now and see if I can find the Quinjet for cheap later on.

Check out youtube for reviews on the lego head. It seems to work pretty well. To add to skiizim's post, you can get craft containers but they're a bit small if you have a ton of stuff. You could even use those ziploc disposable storage containers, and organize them by color.

I love the Alamut set but I guess it comes down to personal preference. I'm not a real super hero buff.

The Quinjet was $48 at Target last week wasn't it?  They had them on AWD for less than $45 several times.  No one wants that great set.

I use many 40 gallon containers to store the LEGOs, they also could work as a tabletop.

Was it? I really don't want to spend more than $30 though. I'll have to keep an eye out.

If you can find it, Wal-Mart might still have one for $40.

I passed by K-Mart, lately it's been if I'm not there the first day or early in the morning stuff is pilfered already but I really don't need much more.... lol

I did find the Star Wars Lightsabers for $16.50!

I stopped by two more kmarts tonight and got a sealed hulk set for $23, the wargs set for $23, a friend poly for $1.75, and the cloud city planet for $4.

Finally got some Kmart clearance love since they put the Queen Anne's on clearance a couple of years ago.  The haul:

6864 Batmobile and Two-Face Chase  $23.50

6863 Batwing Battle  $16.50

79010 Goblin King Battle  $47.50

79002 Attack of the Wargs $23.50

9464 Vampire Hearse $16.50

9497 Repulic Striker-class Starfighter  $21.50

6231 Speeda Demon $16.50

Lego game City Alarm  Join the Chase $9.50

Also saw the Hobbit game for $15.

Might return the Starfighter as I don't give a flip about Old Republic SW stuff and $21 still seems pricey.

It's got all the brown pieces, and the leaf pieces, not to mention all the minifigs, weapons, and wargs.
And I should clarify and say fantasy themed, not castle. The LUG I am involved in builds fantasy related things under an umbrella called "castle." Sorry for the miscommunication!

Props to Bob, the Lego Store manager in Woodbridge, VA.  I asked if we could buy a couple of the leftover VW Bus promo polys and he said yes.  Got one for each of the kids at $4.99 a piece.  Doesn't hurt to ask sometimes.

I went to K-mart on Monday morning after reading here on Sunday night about the 50%. Managed to luckily find Hulk Hellicarrier for 23.50 and Warg's Escape for 23.50, the Hobbit game for 15, and a small box Fire ATV for 92 cents! I went to another K-mart yesterday, but I only found the Friends polybag for 1.75, nothing else of Lego there unfortunately.

I went back to the Salem, NH Kmart yesterday to buy some of the other toys I missed out on (Christmas and birthday gifts) and saw this guy grab ALL of the Turtles action figures and put them in his cart.  Were those on clearance too?

Damn I forgot to check the KMart for the Friendspolies, I need series 1.

My KMart had all new LEGO sets and the only thing on clearance was a Chima racer thing for 6.5, still too much.

Yeah, the only things I saw on clearance at my Kmart were the Chima racer things as well.

I had been there the Saturday before the 50% off started and noticed that some things that had been on clearance were gone.  I guess they got purchased during the 25% of clearance.

Mine didn't have all the Chima racers, just this one guy.  I was hoping for a cheap gorilla.

I got this off another site, it's 10% off AWD, would have been nice last week with the great sales and the fact I bought the overpriced BttF set.

Code - RMENOT10

I picked up a few Spider Droids today at K-Mart, I was in search for an AT-TE but didn't find one, on the receipt it says it's Lego 9498 SaeSee Tins Star Fighter, I guess that would explain why this was on clearance.

The local TRU had a ton of Series 11 figures in, tried to grab a couple but didn't have time to find them all. What are the hardest to find ones? I'll probably aim to grab those first the next time I go back and then finish off the collection later with the more common minifigs.

The females are the harder ones, and the island person.

I'm sure TRU has tons of them, being they were all hiding in the back during last week's sales.

Hey pumbaugh, I just saw on TnB you got your store running. Looks good and congrats!

Thank you, Thank you! I really do recommend everyone checkout the "Owl" www.brickowl.com

If you have ever looked to buy parts or minifigs the process at BL makes it so arduous that many people looking for a simple transaction will run away. The "Owl" brings a lot of modern web functionality to the LEGO part buying experience to hopefully make it easier for everyone. The most exciting part is that the owner/designer is very responsive, I have gotten email responses to every question I ask, unlike BL where my last 4 emails have gone unaswered to Admin and above. Instant checkout on most orders is awesome too!

Since my store was mentioned by someone else and I went on to talk about it, I feel it only fair to offer a coupon to CAG users who may want to check out the Owl. Use the code "CAG" in my store Hoosier Brick and Toy LLC located at hoosierbrick.brickowl.com to receive 10% off any purchase.

Regards,

Patrick

That's pretty sweet! I like that website, which seems easy to use and navigate.

Have you guys checked out the rebrickable website?  It shows you what other sets you can build with the parts you have.  It's nice because it gives you the option of picking whether you want exact color matches, close color matches, or ignore the color.  I think Peeron has something similar, but this is more fleshed out.

According to it, I'm only a few parts away from building the Fire Brigade and only 216 parts from 10179 if I ignore color :)

I have what should be a complete 10179 part wise(no sticker/instructions) in my closet.  It is what got me back into LEGO apart from just easy building with my son who was just getting into the brick when it retired.  I decided I had to have it and snatched up the rare/set specific parts at various marketplaces and slowly gathered all the rest....I only got it half built before I had to put it all away for a while....never finished it.  I am ashamed of myself :(  It has sat in that box some parts totally new, but gathering dust.  The printed radar dish/boat mast rigging never even used, the grey levers....sigh.  The more I write, the more ashamed of myself I become....

On a sidenote I should really make it a point to check out rebrickable.  I get referral sales all the time to my brickowl store from them and have never been on the site...hear about it quite often though.

Brickset, ToysNBricks, BrickOWL and Bricklink are about the only LEGO specific sites I ever look at.

B1G1 40% for first week of bricktober. Excludes chima, technic and mindstorms if I recall. Those geoffrey polybags are showing up in stores outside of the original event states.

Grabbed a lone Chima Eagle Interceptor for $16.50 at K-mart today and passed on the 20 or so speedors they had rotting on the clearance aisle.

Mine didn't have all the Chima racers, just this one guy. I was hoping for a cheap gorilla.
Pretty sure the gorilla is part of series 2, not on clearance.
