LEGO Star Wars to come out for GC?

Namco doesn't own the right to Link but he was still in Soul Calibur II.

EA doesn't own the right to Mario, Luigi, or the Princess, however they are still in SSX on Tour and NBA Street 2.

Nintendo let them use the characters in hopes of attracting more people to the GameCube version of those games.

So its possible to have a Mario version in LEGO Star Wars. Highly doubtful but possible.

Nope, not possible...

Because if Mario was it would be

MARIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(HUGE BIG LETTERS ACROSS THE BOX!)

At the bottom in tiny leters...

In Lego Star Wars.

Yeah, just like the above-mentioned examples of SSX On Tour and NBA Street 2. It's ridiculous how prominent Mario was in the ad/packaging for those games. (This sarcastic post was brought to you by Botticus).
Yeah, I'm just wondering how it compares to the PS2 version

...

I might trade in my PS2 version and get the GC one, but I want to be sure it isn't one of those crappy ports that for no good reason are worse on the GC than the PS2.
It's solid good times, my friend. Controls are tight, graphics are great (water effects on Naboo are amazing!), and the sound is pretty supreme, too. If you really want to pick up the 'Cube version, don't hesitate. It's pretty sweet.

Just got the December Nintendo Power... they gave Lego Star Wars a 6.5. 6.5!!! What the hell? I would've given it at least a 7.5, possibly as high as an 8.5 if the sun was shining that morning... There may be a couple of flaws with the camera and the game may be too short and obviously on the easy side, but I've been enjoying the heck out of it.

It's Nintendo Power...

They give all Nintendo shit titles (Mario Sunshine) 10s, and all third party games that were delayed 6 months for no reason a 6.5.

Haha, you must have missed the 5 or 6 they gave Geist. Seriously. I understand that posting in these forums doesn't require you to love Nintendo, but for someone posting in Nintendo forums all the time, you sure seem to despise them (not that your points aren't valid sometimes).

I agree with David85 somewhat as I tend to think Nintendo needs to find a couple games to bash every month. They bashed LEGO Star Wars basically for 1) being delayed forever and 2) not having anything new features/etc. They did say the controls weren't that tight, which Scobie disagreed with. They also bashed NBA Live 06 this month. I don't think they automatically give all their first party titles a 9 or 10 though.

Meh.. I was kinda chilly on Geist, too, so I didn't think the low rating was unwarranted.

And seriously, I do not despise Nintendo. They've been with me for most of my approx 25 years as a gamer. I currently only own Nintendo systems and have had a blast playing most all of their games this generation. I think I've even remarked on several occasions how I can't ever recall having as much fun gaming as I've had with my 'Cube, GBA, and DS. Hell, I even stood up for Yoshi Topsy Turvy and DK King of Swing! :D

I've only bashed them once or twice around here. Most recently is for how suck ass the NOA game registration rewards have been compared to what gamers in Japan and Europe have been getting.

Sorry to dredge this old topic back up, but I was a bit surpised at a piece of news I got out of an article on a different game:

http://cube.ign.com/articles/699/699529p1.html

Tomg Raider Legend is coming to GC, but the article mentions that Eidos (the publisher) has sold 300,00 copies of Lego Star Wars for GC. I'm fairly surprised at this, though I guess with the lack of titles out for the GC recently it shouldn't be a huge surprise.

What is the threshold for PC titles on GC - isn't it 250,000? So I guess we should expect Lego Star Wars to go PC soon? I have already played and beat the PS2 version with my kids, but would pick up the GC one if I could find it cheap - if only to be able to play with Wavebirds and then lead into the new one coming out this Fall. I hear there's unlockables with previous game save - so I'd need to make a GC save of the original if I want the new one on GC!

Of course, I'd like to get the GC one for less than $10 if possible, espeically as I already have the game. But having it go $19.99 MSRP is a step in the right direction - then I just need to wait for a Buy 2 Get 1 free glitch like at TRU or CC :D.

But Eidos should be taken out back and beaten for not releasing this game on the GC right from the start - and people wonder why multiplatform games don't sell well on the GC (imagine the GC sales if it had come out on all 3 platforms at once - I know I would have gotten GC over PS2 in a heartbeat!).

I believe that they are already for XBOX and PS2. Plus with the sequel coming out in the fall, im sure it will go PC very soon.

Yes, I'm well aware of that - in fact, I was hoping to get the GC one from CC when they had that Buy 2 Get 1 free glitch where you could buy 2 cheap games ($3 or so each) and get any other game $19.99 or under for free. Of course it didn't work for the GC Lego Star Wars, but I picked up another PS2 one for trading purposes. Hopefully the GC one will follow suit soon - though it came out so much later it might not go PC until around when the new one comes out.

In fact, CC just had the PS2/Xbox ones on sale for $9.99 - if they did that with the GC one I'd be all over it :D.

Thanks (I guess) for re-animating this dead thread. I was really stoked when I heard they're making Lego Star Wars Ep. 4-5-6. Given how much fun they poked at Obi Wan and other lame crap in the prequels throughout the first game (and rightfully so), I wonder who'll be the target this time around. Can't wait to see what they do with the Ewoks...

Yeah, but don't forget that LucasArts is taking over for the second one. It sounds like the gameplay will be upped quite a bit (free roaming flying missions, etc) but the humor may be toned down. We'll see.

Did they poke fun of Obi-Wan in the first one? I just remember his light saber not working in one of the Naboo cut scenes - but that is in the movie (just in a different place)... I just changed my avatar from the Obi-Wan one, so I think I would have noticed if they dissed my favorite char :D.

It seemed to me that they were making fun of him left and right, as a bumbling fool. I thought it was pretty funny. Lucas generally doinked up the prequels.

In response to David85's Ewoks comment: obviously they're going to look like Ewoks. The point is what will they do with them to poke fun at arguably the first major mis-step in the Star Wars saga?

LEGO Star Wars III: Expanded Universe Announced
Source: Anonymous

Posting Time: 4/1/2006, 12:03am Eastern Time

Following the success of LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (currently in development), LEGO Star Wars III: Expanded Universe has been announced. Foregoing a traditional developer, publisher LucasArts will instead be collaborating with fanboys (and girls) from their own Hyperspace fan club. Co-Director GunganGrrl77 says, "I just can't get enough of Star Wars or LEGOs, so this for me is a dream come true! We're going to continue the gameplay mechanics that made the first two LEGO Star Wars games a hit while exploring an expanded Star Wars universe in ways never before experienced."

Co-Director Count_DarthWazoo expands, "At first we were planning to explore the canon characters and events from the existing Expanded Universe - the rebuilding of the Republic, Han and Leia's marriage and children, Mara Jade and Luke's Jedi Academy - but we were encouraged to scrap all that fitting, well-crafted stuff and just do what looks cool! So instead, a save file of the custom characters you create in LEGO Star Wars II will be used to build a player-unique LEGO Star Wars expanded universe. We couldn't be more excited!"

While LEGO Star Wars III will be developed for all major platforms, release on Nintendo's console will be delayed by several months at least.

You're not supposed to post April Fools jokes after 4/1. Unless you got taken, of course, in which case there's no way around it.

Oops looked right over you...

Well The whole trilogy of pequels was a "major mis-step in the Star Wars saga" and they still made a good game from it. :)

Yeah, but only by making fun of the prequels and letting the fans slaughter Jar jar Binks again until the pain subsided.

I'm particularly excited about the Lego Star Wars sequel because I wanna play through the game as the surly, drunken Walrus Man from the cantina on Tatooine.
You guys know that there's a thread on the sequel right?

No, but this thread is in particular about the GC version(s). I hope they plan on releasing them all at the same time with this new one. I would assume so (and no I haven't read through all the links - but ones I read a while back weren't clear on that issue).
