Let's talk about Michael Jackson...

Heh. Just turned on the TV and flipped over to the news networks. CNN and MSNBC were talking Michael Jackson. Fox was talking about a train wreck and a bus stop shooting on Detroit.

Why did Fox have to be the "good" station here?

Honestly, I think someone high up at FNC hates MJ... even the day of the death when all the shows had to cover MJ, FNC wasn't very positive. Greta was talking about the trials, Hannity kept asking everyone (even Al Sharpton) "why was he so weird?" (sharpton got pissed, it was kinda funny). All the other stations were doing tributes and talking about the positive aspects of his life.

MSN - Still talking about Michael.
CNN - Michael.
Fox - a report about Obama's speeches about his health care and Mark Stanford.

Ohh... MSN switched to a story on Madoff.
even the day of the death when all the shows had to cover MJ,
"had" to cover... Could have trimmed that coverage down to 1-2 minutes at the top of the hour... would have been more than enough.

on the day of mj's death people turning on the news wanna hear about mj's death, no news channel would be dumb enough to go 5 minutes without mentioning it

I stopped at a rest stop either in ohio or pa on the day he died and had a woman come up to me crying and asked me if I heard the news. Here I was thinking something major happened, and then she told me MJ died. I laughed, said no, filled my gas tank and kept driving.
rofl... what's your point? elvis had a 30 year head start. my statement is still factual, michael jackson is the most commercially successful musician of all time.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Records_and_achievements_of_Michael_Jackson

and if you care so much about album sales, for whatever reason, Thriller is the #1 selling album of all time.
no, it is not factual. Elvis has sold more albums therefore he is commercially more successful.

Elvis also put out 72 albums. Michael's sold somewhere in the neighborhood of 750 million records in 1/10th the discography.
no, it is not factual. Elvis has sold more albums therefore he is commercially more successful.
commercial success involves a lot more than total number of albums sold -- and I think, even that statistic, will be interesting to revisit 20 years from now.

elvis didn't sign the largest recording contract of all time, $890 million, michael jackson did.

elvis didn't have the fastest-selling tickets of all time, 700,000 in four hours, michael jackson did.

elvis didn't have the highest-paid musician product endorsement of all time, $15 million, michael jackson did.

elvis didn't have the highest grossing tour of all time, $125 million, michael jackson did.

how many records had elvis sold at the time of his death? i know elvis has made more money since his death than he did alive, but record sales for that far back are pretty hard to find. i wouldn't be surprised at all if it were a fraction of what MJ has sold up to his death.
Because Blackwater wants that information to be easily found and known?

Pick a better example, camoor. This is below even your tinfoil hat.
You're right. Britney Spears' ice cream flavor is much more important then the degree to which the US military engages mercenary forces. Sorry to interrupt the MJ memorial thread with something that might actually affect global politics.

Equating Britney Spears to Blackwater? The former an attention whore who would gladly let any bit of information about herself fall out of her vagina in order to extend her fifteen minutes of fame? Versus a covert operation that's siphoning taxpayer dollars and murdering people without repercussion or regulation?

Gosh. You really think they'd blindly talk to the media on the same level as someone who flashes her sweaty loins to TMZ? That they'd compromise their tactics by freely talking about how everything is going down in a turmoil riddled country?

I'm sorry your panties are still bloodied and twisted from the news about the Pirate Bay, camoor. But you should really look for support with all the other ladies in your neighborhood. And once you're done with that, go join Malik in staring at different kinds of fruit.

I wasn't going to reply, and I know you're trying real hard to be the resident comedian man, but this attempt at comedy was in poor taste. And I'm a man whose sense of decorum is not easily offended.

I forgot where I read it/heard it/watched it but someone said he would have been better off dying at his peak before all the wierdo child shit came about. i somewhat agree...

Didn't the child that Michael Jackson is notorious for allegedly molesting, describe MJ's genitals to an investigator or something? Either he's a pedophile, or one of the unluckiest people ever!

the kid gave a description which police said had similarities but was not a definitive match, not good enough to be admitted to court as evidence

i'm pretty sure i could describe your penis and get some things right, doesn't mean you've shown it to me

yeah the guy had great music for a while but that doesnt overshadow the fact he was an adult man sleeping in the bed with kids mostly boy kids at that. theres nothing right or normal about that and if anybody else tried to pull that shit wed be in jail holding our ankles and dreaming of a better place than here. i get really annoyed with how celebrities can get away with shit and even more annoyed with people who defend them.

outside of al that i cant help but think this is some big publicity stunt and im really annoyed at everyone who is trying to take advantage of his "death" to get ahead or make money or get some screentime especially his family and all these supposed "friends" of his who are supposed to be so close to him but never bothered to try and get the guy some help.

i also feel bad for any other people who died whose deaths got passed over due to this and i cant believe they were going to sell tickets to his memorial and i cant believe people would pay. whats worse is that all this will continue out for months on end until something bigger comes up.

Apparently the Westboro Baptist Church is staging one of their demonstrations outside the Staples Center on Tuesday. If this funeral attracts the kind of crowds I've heard estimated (Possibly 500,000+), then that will get very interesting very quick. A half million Michael Jackson fanatics who don't have tickets to get in, congregating in the scorching heat vs. A dozen or so batshit crazy hate mongers? That'll be a battle for the ages.

fuck those people man, no need to go to someone's funeral and act the way they do.

The members of Westboro Baptist Church are a joke. I don't think anyone takes them seriously.

I don't believe MJ was a child molester. Lacking any shred of normalcy yes, and understandably, but not a pedophile. The jury agreed with me.

As someone else said, if I had a child who was molested the pedophile would either be dead or going to prison, not paying me money to go free. After reading over the history of that case and hearing the BS spill forth from Evan Chandler's mouth, it's extremely obvious it was nothing short of extortion.

Anyway, rest in peace MJ. Your music & dance was awesome.

I'm firmly convinced the secomd case was nothing more than an overambitious DA trying to make a name for himself. Why else would he call the ex-wife to testify against Michael only to have her say Michael was nothing short of amazing with his children? He brought her as a character assassination and it failed miserably. Not to mention the financial information evidence which had no bearing on whether he molested anyone.

I feel like the first case came about something like this:
"So how was your weekend at Neverland"
"it was great, we went on rides, had lots of fun and even had a sleepover in Michael's bedroom"
"you slept in his room? Did he touch you"
"no, what do you mean?"
"was anyone else with you?"
"no, it was lots of fun"
"ok, here's the deal, do you want to live like Michael all the time?"

I would agree with him if we KNEW that he was a pervert and a pedophile. Since he is SURE MJ was a pervert and a pedophile, then what he's saying is alright. It sounds so inflammatory, though. I don't like when people bring up "THERE ARE PEOPLE DYING IN AFGHANISTAN BLAH BLAH BLAH" because it's SO obvious that the media goes after whatever is hot at the moment, as opposed to more meaningful stories. The King of Pop only dies once! So of course they're going to milk it for all its worth, and not cover Iran and Afghanistan.

i saw on movie on MSNBC last night called Witch Hunt where a couple dozen people convicted of child molestation all served 10+ years when they were innocent... they had lots of interviews with the kids (now 25+ yrs old) describing the questioning process & why they felt they were supposed to lie about it, highly recommended

http://www.witchhuntmovie.com/exonerated.html

one guy spent 20 yrs in prison.. convicted at 41, sentenced to 80 years, released at 61... crazy.. innocent and 20 yrs in prison..
