Yup was pre-logged in, and had already added a box beforehand. Went through and just ordered the one game. Easy as pie.
Do this every time and you'll get your games. If you miss out then you always have your mom and pop store that sells LRG titles. Glad you got a copy.

Easy. La Mulana gone in like two minutes.

Both standard editions selling out way quicker than Collectors Editions. Glad people are starting to realize not every game needs a collectors edition.
I just wasn't in to the OST, but for those that are, it could be seen as a decent set. But in general, I agree this was a pretty weak CE.

Yep

I just returned my copy of Wolfenstein II: Collector's Edition. These things are getting dumb with dolls and shit. Personally, all I really need is a Steelbook and I am happy.
I actually thought that was one of the cooler ones ever offered. I'm looking forward to grabbing it in the future if the price ever drops enough. I wish more CE offered unique items like this one did, as the standard fare really isn't all that interesting most of the time.

I waited almost a solid year for Skullgirls. You really think I'm going to be that concerned over a month delay in shipping? Also, it wouldn't surprise me if the new ESRB requirements had something to do with that delay.

I appreciate the heads up, don't get me wrong. Being informed about this sort of thing is important. But I don't flip games, so I'm not concerned about getting them as quickly as possible. A little shipping delay here or there is not going to upset me, so long as I eventually get my game. And LRG hasn't dropped the ball on that front for me yet. I have always gotten the games I ordered.

Got the mega bundle of course. Nice and smooth. 89% stock available by the time I finished checking out. Was surprised it lasted as long as it did. Almost wish I got an extra standard La Mulana since it sold out so fast. Probably would have made great trade fodder.

Same. I'm just sharing it since some of the readers here obviously don't read and are going to make the comment down the line. "Where's ma games?"

I too have waited for Skullgirls. And I'll still be waiting for my Vita portion well into next year

It's not even going to be a month. We're underpromising on the ship date so we can easily exceed it. We expect to have the standard copies in any day now but Sony has gotten really bad at giving us estimated ship dates from the factory. The CEs will be assembled soon after we get the standard copies in - standard copies will ship ASAP, though.

If you don't care for multiple covers, why let that impede you from picking up a single copy? Is it because you can't pick the specific cover you want? We could offer each cover as a separate listing but that would stretch stock thin and probably make a lot of people victims to the no cart hold.
It's definitely not related to not being able to pick them all up, as I've yet to miss any release (checkout errors and all) that I actually wanted.

For me, it's really the idea of all or nothing.

If I don't plan to collect them all, there's no reason for me to collect an incomplete set, even if I wanted the game physically. And if I really wanted to play the game in the end, I'd just get it digitally later on.

Variants are fine when it's something small, like the playing cards. When it starts collapsing into $25-$30 variants, and multiple versions of them, that's when I feel I need to draw the line.

This is just my own personal feelings towards this practice. I mean, it's cool and all, but it's just sort of too much at times. I would only do this for titles that I really want, but for other titles that are stuff I want but can go on without, it's an easy pass for me.

Just for context, I am one of those that started to wane around the time PAX variants were introduced, and then when KS variants came out that was when I decided to no longer go for them all, so as you can see I'm just personally not a fan of collecting variants. I understand there's the business side of it for you, and you need to do things like that for PAX in order to get people to go to the booths. And the KS variants are fun, and another good way to help branch out, and also promote these types of partnerships, but they're not enticing to me.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's cool that there are multiple variants for games, and I can imagine they look neat side by side. But if the game isn't one that I just need (VA-11 Hall-A for example), variants just put me off on any release, and it becomes a question, rather than the answer. And yes, VA-11 Hall-A will always be the answer. :D

Again, just my personal feelings about all of this.

Doesn't seem like my absence has hurt anything anyways, so like I said, plenty of people out there who likes this approach, or just don't care either way.

I've seen the Vita haul pictures.  I know you've got problems lol.  self-control issues over wanting to have it all.

I basically had everything ready to go this morning but ended up not buying anything. Nex was one of the games I was hoping LRG would do and I ended up not buying it... seemed like it was so much easier to justify a LRG purchase back when there were a few games a month. Seems like it's just a lot more now, plus there's the standard vs CE option too.

Not a knock on LRG but can't help but wonder if others aren't feeling the same way since I expected everything would sell out within 2-3 minutes.

The last games went up about a month ago. I'm not really following the issue.... you wanted Nex, but decided not to get it because they sell too many games and you had to consider a CE?

Doesn't that make it more shocking that I don't want the variants, and haven't been buying LRG releases with the exception of a few for awhile? ;D

That's definitely speaking to something. :*(

Haven't followed the thread in full detail but it sounds like Nov-Dec is gonna be a lot of games, gap or otherwise (which seemed like it was due to catch up on shipping). It's also the holiday season- gotta be more careful with my money.

Again, this wasn't a knock on LRG. Just saying.

I would have been all over Nex if I had a PS4, as the game seems amazing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we see a physical offering for Resogun, as that is an amazing game as well.

I don't really think this game lasting a few minutes is any big "red flag", as it had good qty's, and is also being released at a busy time of year. I personally have had to scale back on my purchases due to the holidays. For every guy here not buying a game today, there is someone some place else who is. It's all good either way, as the sky is not falling, buyers are just being a little more selective than usual.

Yeah atleast La Maluna includes a 4 disc soundtrack. The worst was Dariusburst. $40 more for a 12 track arrange CD and cheap little ships haha.

Congrats on another successful run Josh.  Nothing for me today but I'm looking forward to 2064 ROM, Windjammers, and seeing what else is coming the rest of the year.

Oh I'm with you. All of the variants are largely unnecessary and a turn-off. I'm just not sure how come you're so apologetic about it.

I was upset for several months with LRG, with the numerous releases and all of the variants. That was because I knew I wasn't going to be able to maintain my collection. My approach to them is much healthier now though; Just buy what I like. I just wish I hadn't spent so much money buying everything in the first year and then not being able to keep up with it. It was dumb of me to buy into the collector aspect that they were selling. But that initially happened because collecting a complete collection seemed easily feasible back then. I actually feel good about myself when I pass on release day now. Same as when I buy something new of theirs that excites me.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I usually buy both the SE and CE for games I want. SE to open and play and CE to keep sealed. Today I only bought the CEs due to budget constraints. There is just too much stuff coming out this year including big Black Friday sales. I don’t see why people complain about the CEs.. no one is making you buy them. I personally like the options LRG provides. I think at this point, most of us can’t afford a complete set of every single release/variant and that’s OK. I just buy the games I want.

Did you skip Summon Night 6? Do you own any copies of any Working Designs release from the 90s? Working Designs pioneered variants and sometimes took it to any absolutely insane level.

Why not just buy one copy if it is a game that interests you? We'll have quite a bit of extra cover sheets for 2064, provided they come back safely to our warehouse. If just having the cover sheets would make you feel better about owning a copy of the game, I can probably get you whichever two you end up missing.

But seriously, there are more than five variants for Summon Night 6. As far as I've been able to glean - there is a light and dark cover (randomly packaged sealed, but reversible) and several variants on the disc or cartridge art. Not only that but there is special cover art in the Wonderful Edition that has a clean back instead of one with text and screenshots. The Wonderful Edition also has one out of three plushies in it and it's totally random which one you get. I can't imagine how many different permutations there are for this game across the standard and Wonderful Edition.

Everything we listed this morning was gone in under an hour. If there's one thing that will cause me to lose my sanity, it's the ridiculous standard we're held to in terms of how fast people expect our stuff to sell out before considering it a "failure". We're trying to make sure more people get the games - we can't do that and sell out in a fraction of a second. When we sell out that fast - we screwed up. Selling out in a fraction of a second means we severely under-gauged demand and lost our partners revenue. Selling out in an hour shows we're better meeting demand on those particular titles. That's a win.

We've just had our slowest two months since we started the company - I don't follow the logic about too much coming out. Yeah, we're about to get busy again, but this particular release is coming in after a long stretch of only two games per month. It also happens to be one of the best games we've ever released. It's a game that will stand the test of time, not just for the collectibility of our release, but because the game is legitimately good.

Are you ever going to buy a PS4

These CE's are all pretty garbage, the reason being the box and price.. They need to take a nod from PA.com and make the boxes MUCH SMALLER but a thicker like 3 games and insert the Soundtrack and folded poster or w/e and charge less.

Throwing in a vita game and jewel case loose in a HUGE box and charge alot isnt great. I hope this trend stops and they make better CEs.

Out of the 2 Summon Night 6 Wonderful Editions, I got the grey and pink plushies.  I'm gonna call that good enough.  Years of collecting Working Designs variants has fatigued me; don't get me wrong it was fun as hell, but missing that 1 Alundra insert and not being able to find it was kinda the straw for me. Anyways...

Doom, if we buy 3 copied of 2064 rom, is it a guarantee we'll get all 3 variants?

"Garbage" is pretty strong (and insulting). I do agree that I would prefer the boxes be smaller instead of similar to big-box PC boxes. I do think the idea is that the box is a display piece/art. I wouldn't mind them being a little more shelf friendly especially if the contents justify it. In these cases, I think the posters are what is driving the box size. I'd go ahead and add another fold and shrink the box down.

I also really, really, really prefer PA's style of CEs. A smaller, high quality, reasonable package with an artbook and a sound track or something like that. People just don't have room for these huge monstrosities.

If I'm not mistaken, the point of the CE boxes is to make most of them the same size so that they fit together nicely as a collection.

I know what you mean though, that the value isn't there. I can appreciate that Josh and co. puts great emphasis on designing some killer boxes that collectors will appreciate. I just don't have room on my shelves anymore. Was really torn on whether or not to buy this week's CEs but decided to pass. It's hard to put that much value on the boxes themselves.

One thing that has impressed me with LRG lately though is their choice of publishing games with excellent soundtracks. Good soundtracks are an often overlooked and underappreciated aspect of video games. The best and most memorable games of all-time have top-notch soundtracks. In some ways, it has become a lost art. So it's nice to see the focus there. We're all excited for Valhalla; the music and atmosphere are the main reasons to play that game.

If LRG would find a way to incorporate steelbooks into these CEs...whew! I'd lose my shit and buy every single one of them.

Three. For sure. They discussed it and posted pictures on twitter.

Had to buy CE and SE to get all 3 of them.

Actually, the third cover requires attending PSX or hoping to get one when they sell the extras after the convention.

I was planning to get one this holiday, but I've still got PS3/360 games to finish, so probably not. LOL

If and when a good enough deal happens, I'll grab one, as I was going to get a slim($200 or under was my buy in point). But now I might just wait it out for the pro a few years from now, as there's no games I need to have now, that can't wait awhile. Then the Pro should be at $200, and there will for sure be better AAA games at $20 and under as well by then(more GOTY editions at cheaper prices).

I did finally buy my sons NS yesterday, so there's some forward movement, as I've been talking about that forever as well. LOL Sadly, he got in trouble at school yesterday, so I haven't even bothered to hook it up. Which sucks, as I really wanted to give Mario Odyssey a try. But at least it's here, and I have a screen protector, case, etc for it, so once he shapes up, it's game on.

Honestly, I would have caved on today's CEs for $59.99 apiece lol.  Still itching to pull the trigger here during the 5pm sale.

hey does the La Mulana 20pg instruction manual not come in the SE version?

I agree that the La-Mulana CE seems a bit pricey for what it is. Honestly, though, I appreciate really nice box design on a CE. I care more about that than some of the useless trinkets thrown into some CEs. If I'm displaying CEs then I want to look at great box art. Most of the contents of CEs I don't care about and will never use/enjoy other than soundtracks in some cases and books. Posters, trinkets, etc do nothing for me. I applaud LRG for putting effort into making nice looking boxes since they are attractive to display.

If that cover offer extends to me I would take it, haha. Normally I don't care about variants but I love all 3 of the artwork choices there.
