Hope County and the Mondo Edition have been sold out since launch and never dropped in price. As such, your argument fails in this instance and I'm sure many others where there have been retailer exclusives like steelbooks or variant covers.
My point was more so focused on the difference between limited print variants versus retail variants with different DLC offerings (i.e. every Ubisoft standard, deluxe and gold editions). Frankly, I was unaware of the big box collectors editions, mainly because I jumped off that bandwagon years ago. Most individuals in this thread are likely collecting one thing or another, whether it be steelbooks, variant covers, limited releases, etc., and are forced to narrow their focus according to affordability. The more releases and variants provided, the more likely they are going to exhaust one base or another. My point is only to encourage the companies I've remained passionate about to attempt to retain their following, while gaining new supporters. To assume that saturating a release day with several games and variants is something that "most of their customer base doesn't care about" is severely undermining the growing wave of concerns. Maybe I'll stand corrected, but I can't fathom that all these releases will sell as quickly as the games they released in more infrequent intervals... Friday will be an interesting day, one way or another.

Welp, it's D-Day(and Friday the 13th to boot). LOL

I'm still undecided on if I want to try for the two Vita variants today, as I really like the Oddworld variant, but the Bit-Trip, not so much. But I normally don't shop variants for the aesthetics, so that's a non issue I guess(how sad is that).

And just a last warning, but the standard Thimbleweed for the NS closes pre-orders tonight 1 minute shy of midnight(11:59pm EST). So for those who want in on one of LRG biggest offerings, as well as their first NS title, today is your last chance. https://limitedrungames.com/products/thimbleweed-park-switch?variant=7136854769717

I don't know why i'm tempted by Senko no Ronde 2...don't really like those bullet hell fighter type games.....I will likely try for the Oddworld variant that will be gone in 2 seconds.

Really tempted to get Senko no Ronde 2, I enjoy those games and while I don't think the price is outrageous, but I am going to lean on passing because I just spent a decent amount on games yesterday and next week I have Yakuza 6 and God of War out. Good luck to everyone though, those PAX Variants will go quick.

If you want the variants just because variants, they have a bundle with all 4 variants included. There are only 200 bundles available.

Surprised that Senko No Ronde limited edition isn't an instant sell out.
Yeah, just like the last few really busy release days, there's just way to much being offered for even popular items to go quick. I'm a big supporter of offering most games possible, just not all on the same days.

Probably due to the million dollar price tag on it..
Yeah, LRG's CEs are just getting stupid expensive for the extras you get.

They should take a note from a competitor - for example IFFY. Today they are starting preorders for a CE for their upcoming Megadimension Neptunia VIIR game. Base game is $59.99. CE is only $20 more ($79.99) and you get a nice little assortment of items including a hardcover art book for that price. Collector's box included ;)

I missed Typoman. fucking Typoman. Of all of the high profile and limited games that went up this morning, Typoman is what I end up missing lmao. I know I can get one this afternoon, but that's still kind of funny.

Grabbed the two Vita PAX variants and regular Senko. Really glad I was able to get both of the variants. The Oddworld variant went really fast as expected. Not shocked at all that Senko is not going fast, especially the CE. Niche game, not a pure shmup, and a highly priced CE that doesn't offer much for $100. Looks like they might have overproduced both the CE and vanilla. Then throw in the fact that quite a bit is being offered today.

Is this an open preorder? I just spent too much today to have another order authorize :whistle2:&

Yeah, IFFY CEs usually stay in stock for a minimum of a few weeks to well into the release. The Megadimension Neptunia ones though seem to sell out the quickest (though I'm guessing this should be around for several weeks). I plan on preordering it today though just in case.

Were we allowed to order the Oddworld variant if we purchased 1 in February because I don’t want to go over any limit and risk having them cancelled?
Variant qty's are separate from standard releases, so as long as you don't go over any of the specific limits, your good. So if standard allowed for 2, and you bought 2, you can still get a variant of 1(or two if allowed).

Got pulled into some work stuff while today's batch was going live. Luckily I was only going for Senko no Rondo and it was still in stock.

you only want it because of the anime faces

it's a common problem that exists on a spectrum. I suffer from it too, albeit mildly.

Man, I couldn't agree with this analysis more than I currently do haha. I ended up passing on SNR2 because I know that I am not interested in it, but I always have to fight that urge when animu anything is involved haha.

Thanks. I don't need them so it's no big deal. But it would be helpful if they included that info in their once-a-day reminder emails instead of requiring regular Twitter checks as well.
Actually, the am only for variants has been that way from the start, so the twitter post are a courtesy, as it's always been the same. They don't have enough qty's of those games leftover, to allow for two different times. So the am has always been the only place to get trade show variants.

BTW did I mention I'm shamed...I was getting the Oddworld...and I was like what the hell...shmup thing....I admit it...I bought Senko no Ronde 2....i'll likely give a review some day....ugg...

Looks like they changed their mind on how to do this as the PAX Variants are showing as being available again in the afternoon sale (although the bundled PAX variants and Skullgirls are not).

They probably had a few ass clowns buying over the limits, and then they will offer those in the pm, if they catch enough by then. Sometimes they'll re-offer on Monday, as it takes a few days to weed thru the limit breakers.

They send me so many email updates they are basically spammers at this point. It's half a sentence of information to add; it'd be great if they could include that info in the emails.

Who wants to sign in to all of my shit and order my Typoman copies at 3? I'm not used to needing the afternoon batch, and I just can't be fucked. Lol

LRG has lost their flame by releasing too many games + variants + CEs. Earlier today, Thimbleweed’s PS4 vanilla copy and CE were over 50% and now they’re “sold out”. Will there be a blind box with CEs in it now? I loved their initial overall plan of releasing games physically but now greed seems to be their motive. They knew people would try to get every game initially but now they’re releasing 4 or 5 games every two weeks plus variants and CEs which makes a lot of people not able to keep up. Even resellers are stopping to buy because most LRG’s releases can be bought for around retail now on eBay. Now, I’d rather just have the cards. They are better to collect now than the games imo.

Yeah, everything mentioned above has been said many times before, and having games sell out within minutes(or seconds), was the major complaint of most since they opened up shop. Now that games are lasting past a certain point, the business is doomed and crumbling under foot. So first, they didn't know their market, as they never produced enough, and now that pretty much the same qty's are being offered, and lasting past a few days, now the complete opposite is being stated.

And I'm sure once they get down to only a few games a month, we'll be hearing about how they aren't doing well, and should be offering more titles, and making smaller runs to sell out in seconds. So now that buyers who missed out on first offerings, can now get those games for retail on Ebay, and that's a problem? I also thought no one liked resellers, and now that they are leaving, that's an issue as well? Holy shit, just another day in the life of LRG! :wall:

Eh, I'm sure selling 80% of 6 games yields more revenue than 100% of 2 games. Question is whether it's as profitable after considering per-game costs like printing. Given LRG's direction, either the answer is "and then some!", or they found it's not but can't wind back down immediately.

I skipped Typoman based on the Destructoid review.

Yeah, it was said before that the completionist collectors were getting burned out by LRG releasing too many games. The backlash was fierce.

"Then don't buy all of the games" actually means LRG has less customers.

"I'm happy there are more choices of games" means there are more games that are passed over.

"They'll slow down" doesn't matter once the completionist quits.

This was discussed before, but only so far as most people calling out the completionist as whiners when they were just trying to help. They were warned.

As for the resellers.. Whether or not they are revered doesn't determine their ability to indicate the health of a collector's market.
