Unfortunately for the USPS, if they misdeliver a package, they can't force the person they gave the package to, to hand the package back to them. That person could purely just say no, and that's the end of their recourse. So certainly depends on if the person who got your package is nice too. Bleck. :*(
Yeah, a few years back when the "Last of Us" was released, I had several of those HUGE LE sets coming from GS by UPS, and normally he's pretty good, but this time he left my entire order at a different house, as in my division, there are several houses close to one another with the same number, but different names. So it's real easy for some one to deliver wrong, but I get packages from UPS all the time, and he knows me by name & face, so it was weird he delivered this order wrong, but we all make mistakes from time to time, it just sucked he made it on a $600-$700 order.
So he remembered where he left it, and left notes and tried to contact the people on many different occasions, but they never replied or acknowledge his request. So they pretty much stole the order. GS refunded me, but it was still a pain, and to know someone near by just flat out stole the items made me kind of frown on the "Love your neighbor", but I've returned several items delivered to me wrong, and most of my neighbors have done the same, so I didn't let that one piece of shit sower me on my community.
But every time I would see their garage open, I would think about going and taking something, but I thought better of it in the end. As I still never had proof of where the items went specifically, as far as I knew, the UPS man took them, so I didn't want to blame someone 100% with out proof.
My regular post man is great, and he has my cell number and I have his, so when he has packages that need to be signed for or left, he'll text me and ask if I'm home, or if he should hold them until later. I can also text him, and see if and when something may arrive. Sadly, he doesn't work 100& of the time, and that's when the problems arise. As the fill in's on his route are hit and miss.
