Nuts... I'm actually shocked this wasn't done before.

I just hope the quality is the same as the original. It's impossible to find CD jewel cases that are the same quality as the originals, the ones these days are crazy brittle/thin.

The original ones were pretty brittle, though, were fairly thick.

I don't think any of the ones I still have is left with an uncracked case, albeit, still in tact, but definitely not study.

Well they're all brittle, given they're plastic. But specifically to the newer CD jewel cases, I often break cases just trying to take them apart to put in the inserts. They felt much thinner/stiffer than the original PS1/DC cases. Never had issues with those crack/chipping from me trying to take them apart. Any cracks on those are usually b/c of force/being dropped.

My longbox jewel cases are 50/50... half of them are in crack/chip free, the others are damaged. Will definitely buy some of these to try... can't imagine they'll be cheap though.

I'm kind of chuckling a bit because they say croixleur is a JRPG. It's about the farthest thing from it and should be considered an arena brawler.

Wonder how retro collecting community will respond to those cases. I do very little buying of Saturn / Sega CD these days myself since I have most of what I want already and the rest is just outrageously priced, but I know I personally wouldn't be thrilled about people trying to pass off repro cases as mint originals.

As long as they look the same, I don't see an issue with it (can't speak for everyone else). Unless of course the originals are marked with some sort of stamp indicating that they are original cases, which I don't think they are.

I'm curious if they will be exactly the same. If they're built to spec and are identical, then it shouldn't matter if the item is 20 years old or 20 days old. It would still be the same item.

The black tray insert will not contain the compact disc symbol as that is a Philips trademark, but I suspect people will just swap in the old insert anyway since the only thing that ever seemed to go wrong with those are the teeth on the disc holder becoming broken or bent.

Yeah it's kind of interesting nobody else has, kudos to LRG for putting it out there. I think that it's a cool idea.

According to Doug's post at the LRG forums Friday 2/2/18 will not have any releases and there is currently at least one scheduled for the following week (2/9).  That one being Factotum 90.

Anyone know what's up with the blind boxes?  Originally one of the guys said they were already sealed and even LRG didn't know what was in them.  However on the 10th of January they sent out an email saying "Blind boxes are currently being assembled by the factory.
We should have them next week and will begin shipping at our earliest convenience."  I take that as they weren't already sealed?  Not in a big rush, just curious about when these will ship and what other members get!

Either being manufactured or being prepared. There is also the weather in their area to take into account
There was one day of snow. A two day delay in business operations because the south isn't prepared for any accumulation.

They did originally post on their twitter that they didn't even know what was in each box. Then they posted after the fact that the blind boxes were being assembled.

Has anyone received their shipments from the end of year sale? This was my first purchase from LRG and have been hesitant to buy again because of no shipping information. Are blind boxes the hold up?

I have not received anything I orderd on that day. I think they're trying to process previous orders that are ready to ship first.

Welcome to LRG waiting. Don't forget the unofficial motto is "You'll eventually get your shit!"

I am excited for new saturn/sega cd cases. Some of my cases are okay but man do they scratch easily. And the hinges are made of the most brittle plastic, maybe LRG shouldn't make these cases exactly to spec. Just sayin'

Here's hoping those Sega CD cases turn out good. I'll probably buy a few, if I get a chance to.

I remember another company claiming they had made identical Sega Genesis replace cases a few years back and the things were just awful, and couldn't even hold a game without bending out of shape and messing up the cart label.

Well that was as easy as the golf one we got early on, is Furi any good?
If you like bullet-hell type titles mixed with hack-and-slash and excruciating difficulty, you'll love Furi. It's basically just a boss rush game which can decimate you if you're not careful. I suck at it but I'm currently enjoying the thing.

It's decent from what I was told. Only thing thats bothering me is that LRG already released that on PS4.
Same with SMRPG. I'd probably be okay with the first few LRG Switch releases being PS4 releases as well.

I'll for sure be passing on Furi then, thanks for the info.

Honestly, I expect most games that had PS4 releases to also get them on the NS when the titles are offered there. If a developer already used LRG and had a good experience, it seems a given they would do the same for NS titles. And for some of the titles that didn't get a Vita release, it seems there's a good market for such titles due to being portable on the NS.

I haven't bought many of the PS4 offerings, so for me any NS titles will be new, except for the Vita ones of course. So I don't plan to double dip on any Vita games, but I'll for sure grab some of the PS4 titles on the NS, where the Vita never got a version.

I picked up the following games at PAX South:

One Way Heroics

Skullgirls

Caladrius

Jotun

Ys Origins

And then oddly found a flea market vendor that had:

Dragon Fantasy

Rainbow Moon

Are there any other games besides the ever expensive SMRPG that fit into that RPG, Fighting, or just a general "You absolutely must own this game" style?  First real time jumping into getting anything LRG.

Ray Gigant? Risk of Rain is also one of my favorite games that they've released physically.

Yeah, I went and watched a few reviews of the game and it's not an RPG let alone JRPG at all. It has two (from what I can tell) elements from RPG's and that being leveling up and finding new weapons.

For those interested in the game, it's a very basic high score arena (tower levels) hack and slash game. The emphasis is on the timed 15 minute games focusing heavily on high scores and clearing each level of enemies. The areas (each floor of a tower) are all the same empty shaped room with no elevation changes. Enemies come in waves and are super recycled with skin color changes in order to show higher levels. There are some random bosses which at least ads some variety to what is a very recycled and repetitive experience. The main mechanic of the game is high scoring with a reliant on chaining kills by dashing between enemies. Once you are hit the chain ends. To me it looks much worse than Drive Girls... which is pretty well disliked, but I think at least has some variety in the locations and of course the extra mechanic of transforming girls into cars. The edge to Croixleur Sigma is if you are heavy into hack and slash score chasing then it might be a fun diversion with game running on a countdown clock. I don't think I would enjoy that and would rather spend my gaming time on something else, so with that I'm out.

They can get away with it because the cover looks like a JRPG.

It's got that Tales clone vibe to the art. ;D
Yeah, it's the same hair colors as the art for the GC version of Tales of Symphonia. I'm sure they are banking on the art selling the game. Hopefully those that buy it do a little research since it's on the super basic end of hack and slash and no where near a tales game or really any other rpg series.

LRG should really send out some kind of correction email about Croixleur Sigma not being an RPG. It would be bad for people to buy that thinking it's something that it's not.

Yeah maybe. Or they can Google it like I, and I'm sure many others did, not knowing what the game was, and saw for myself it isn't an RPG.

Well yeah, it's always a good idea to research for yourself, but there's no excuse to not send out a correction email if they're giving out misleading info. Plus never underestimate how lazy people can be.

people can be lazy af. Like the Black Friday Thread and all the constant questions of "Is there a Xbox One X deal? Is there a Playstation 4 Pro Deal?

There's a difference between lazy and specifically being told it's something that it isn't. If LRG didn't say what type of game it is, and people were too lazy, fine. Fault's on the lazy buyer. If LRG says it's an RPG, it's much less on the fault of the buyer.

should've been more specific. It was a debacle for your order. I thought you were talking about the overall release of Night Trap.

That is a very small percentage compared to the overall size of the print run.
If my story ended with 'they sold out in a few minutes', I'd still label it a debacle. Is there a game that hasn't sold out quickly since NT? It's why I haven't tried to buy another item from them.

Yup. Next they need to make replacement 32X boxes - the yellow inside box that holds the cartridge.

Our past few releases actually stayed in stock for a weekend.

Any ETA on Cosmic Star Heroine?

Also I would love to see Limited Run Games do another physical Housemarque title, that being Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition.

Quite a few. Just this past weekend was the most recent.
