Lips - Starring Superstar Singing Sensation Duffy
Thats horrible.
There really isn't any advertising for the game.
It was all over my dash board the past few weeks and every store I go to I hear it. I've seen a few TV ads to boot. It had more advertising then most games these days. I'm not a fan of this genre and glad it bombed, but don't say there was no advertising :p

Good to know. All I know is that in Canada I'm not sure too many people know its out. Besides the Dashboard, I've never really seen it anywhere else.
I think the next time they release more DLC I'll pick it up.
They don't.
I wonder why that is? That would be the only reason I would buy this. Maybe I'll have to look for that madcatz microphone/controller instead.
3 New Songs this week:
A Thousand Miles
All Star
Give A Little Bit.

Ok, I've got to have this.
Hmm...Vanessa Carlton, Smashmouth, and Goo Goo Dolls? Have any of those been on a previous karaoke game? If not, these first two rounds of DLC are what the disc should have been. It would have been a day one purchase if they were. Doing it this way kinda just makes it seem like they're forcing you to buy the crappy disc, so you can get to the awesome DLC. M$ at its finest.

Yeah, the DLC should've been on disc. There are 4 DLC songs right now that I'm getting when I pick up the game.
I don't mind too much, I have over 2000 points stored up.

I was debating on getting the game until I saw this as well. 95% of the songs on disc are terrible and I'm not comfortable spending 70 bucks on a game then another 70 in downloadable content just so it's fun to play. Oh well :\ Maybe if they package a DVD with the DLC on it someday.

I'm aware they don't, but to be more clear I'm wondering if either the Lips team or Harmonix have said anything regarding a patch for compatibility. Pretty lights are pretty :D

Can't believe I'm bumping this, but with the alleged Rock Band patch right around the corner, is anybody reconsidering picking this up? I'll more than likely be grabbing American Idol: Encore 2 with a giftcard during the holiday, but I'm so pissed off by Konami's DLC "strategy" (every single song has been on a previous KR game), I'm not sure how long it'll hold my interest.

The DLC for Lips is really great so far (They even added "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" and "Blue Christmas" which really says a lot for their timeliness). In a perfect world, I'd take the AI:E2 disc songs and the Lips DLC. But now Lips has the DLC + inevitable Rock Band compatibility. That could push me over the top. Just wish I could get it for cheaper. Anybody know of any deals on this thing?

Where exactly have you read this? Source?

I remember the developer of the game stating that this was something they just weren't going to do.

that's cool i was waiting for a drop but here's another reason to get it. If the mics are good quality I'll ditch the RB mic in a heartbeat.

Ah, so it's coming from Harmonix then, and not the people who made Lips...

Well, good for Harmonix that they have the time and resources to do that. I'm betting there is no chance this will work on GH:WT.

Probably not considering Activision probably doesn't care or even acknowledge Lips as a viable music game alternative. This is pretty awesome of Harmonix though. Basically telling everybody "We can figure out your programming and incorporate it into our game. WE OWN EVERYTHING!" :)

New songs this week:
Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer – Gene Autry(160ms)
Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree – Brenda Lee(160ms)
A Holly Jolly Christmas – Burl Ives(160ms)
The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas To You) – Nat King Cole(180 ms)
Santa Baby – Kylie Minogue(160ms)
White Christmas – Bing Crosby(180ms)
Hanukkah Blessings – Barenaked Ladies(160ms)

Licensing, ummm do all songs have a music video behind it? that could be the reason as well.... All that could play into it.

I am debating on picking this up today......

As soon as it is official that its compatible for Rock Band, I will probably get it. Ok who am I foolin as soon as it goes on sale I'll probably get it, I cant pass up singing games, and if its compatible for Rockband?? Score!! I want a wireless mic for that game.:bouncy:
Cool, but why are some songs 180 pts vs 160?
I believe they do this just because of differnet licensing costs. Some labels might require a higher return so they have to charge more. They want to put the song on, so they figure people will pay it. $2.25 compared to $2.00. That is just my thought on it, not positive. Singstar keeps every song at $1.49 and they refuse to sell any songs higher than that, which means they can't put certain songs on there, which stinks as I would rather pay more to get the songs.

Yeah, this is probably right. Also notice that those 2 180 point songs are pretty legendary. "The Christmas Song" and "White Christmas" from Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby. I think they can justify $0.25 more. It's really not Christmas without those two songs, haha :)

If Lips gets freaking awesome songs, I'm more than happy to spend an extra 20+ points on the songs that are worth it.

This was on my Channukah list, and I'll find out soon(ish) if I got it.

lol that's exactly what I was thinkin
Not yet, but apparantly it's in the works.
What's in the work, Lips mic with Rock Band, or Rock Band mic with Lips? I need the latter.
What's in the work, Lips mic with Rock Band, or Rock Band mic with Lips? I need the latter.
Lips mics working with Rock Band. Haven't heard anything to the opposite effect
Ok, so has anyone tested Rock Band mics to see if they work with Lips?
don't see how as Lips have games on it specifically made for the motion sensor in their mics. Still don't see the reasoning on why people would want to use the Rock Band mics, its not like there is a mic less version of Lips

You can't use the mics in Rock Band yet. There was a Rock Band update a few days ago and people tried the mics after, still don't work. Harmonix says is still on the way though.

People want to use the Lips mics because they are wireless and have lights.

I was talking about people wanting to use the Rock Band mics on Lips. I totally understand why people would want to use the Lips mics on Rock Band but the other way makes me scratch my head

Haha...damn some of you guys are some non-reading motherfuckers. Half of you are talking about Rock Band mics working in Lips. And the other half are talking about Lips mics working in Rock Band. But you think you're having the same conversation. You'd think people were speaking Chinese in here.

The reason why is I can get the game abut not the Lips mic.
The reason why is I can get the game abut not the Lips mic.
How? The game only comes bundled with the mics.

I was hoping to rent Lips and use my Rock Band mic, but since there isn't an unbundled version, Gamefly isn't going to carry it, and it might not work anyways with a rock band mic. I don't really want it, but I know my girlfriend would freak out if she could sing Taylor Swift in a game.

got it today, fun. Easy, and I turned it off, and I'm about to go right back and play in solo. Can't wait to have some friends over and play. It's really tempting to buy a lot of the DLC too.

Oh God! Here we go again! :bouncy:
This was already in Karaoke Revolution American Idol Encore. It sucks having so many crossover songs like that.
