Guys, just a warning for Xbox Live Labs that the amount you have to download is HUGE. Someone posted in another thread about their download.

As someone who has a 5GB per month download limit, I can't do this fully.
This is my current bandwidth stat for today, running Xbox Live Labs for 3 hours so far (halfway done):
"March 10, 2011 (Incoming: 2174 MB / Outgoing: 143 MB)"

2 GB download isn't huge at all! That is smaller than my average daily usage.

Holy shit how much porn do you download :p

What if I have two gamertags on my xbox? I want the stuff, and my gf wants the avatar items. Would I be able to run the test twice with different tags, on the same xbox?

I have completed all of the tests in 6 hours.

Here is my bandwidth stat for today after all of the tests have been completed:
"March 10, 2011 (Incoming: 3185 MB / Outgoing: 275 MB)"

Note that the bandwidth from Xbox Live Labs would be a bit less than that total because it is the combined bandwidth stat for today's WAN activity on my network.

EDIT: From CAG, Hakudoshi reports:
Total bandwidth used:
Incoming: 7,503.93 MB
Outgoing: 221.84 MB
so expect a 3-8 GB range of bandwidth results.

Are you getting those bandwidth numbers from your ISP? The numbers show on the ISP web sites are not always 'live', and can sometimes lag as much as 4 hrs behind. So, just to be sure, check it again a few hours after the test completed to confirm.

The DD-WRT firmware monitors network usage and updates it every few seconds.

That's not bad at all, I used more than that downloading Runes of Magic haha.

Just to clarify, the lab test are just three sessions correct? And after the three test you can go back to normal activity with your 360?

Nah. The Banshee codes from computerbild.de were a completely different promo.

That article is talking about how someone figured out the URL that was sent in some mass mailings from MS, and was able to 'increment' some of the values to get additional codes... By changing the URL they were able to obtain 10,000 total different codes (so it probably was emailed to 10,000 people). Course, the emails had gone out quite a long time ago, so many people probably already redeemed their codes, which is why so many of the 'exploited' codes were coming up used.
I'm running the first test now. It seems that the transfer speed is a continuous ~30-40 KB/s for the first 30-minute test.
EDIT: 7 minutes later on the first 30-minute test, it is now up to ~500-700 KB/s download.
EDIT: In the second test, it is about ~130 KB/s download.
EDIT: I'm running the third test now. The download speed is jumping up and down between ~400 KB/s and ~700 KB/s. After that, there is a few seconds of ~30-40 KB/s and then it jumps right back up to ~400-700 KB/s.
EDIT: Ok, the third test is now running at about ~130 KB/s download. It looks like this test is alternating to different download speeds.
Upload speed is around ~8-10 KB/s.
EDIT: Bewarned! I just got automatically disconnected from Xbox Live during the third test. I think it is because of inactivity. I had to connect again and resume.

Thanks for the note glad someone has technical specs about it :applause:

EDIT:
"three Avatar items and three zero point achievements that you can earn for each completed test, including a lab coat, brain helmet, and crazy mad scientist hair!"
When I checked my awards spot I saw Lab has 4 awards I was excited because I was thinkin the glasses were separate but they are part of the mad hair too :( but yup just lab coat(male n female), and the uni helmet and hair w/ glasses

I was able to run and unlock for the the two accounts on my xbox at the same time.
Any good?
Not sure. I haven't watched it yet. Add it to your queue quickly though if you are at all interested in it. The Zune freebies don't seem to last too long. Seems like within a week or two they add a MSP price to them.
who cares about live lab tests? is it of importance? why is it important? just wonderin, not being a prick. really curious
Your posting in a thread about free stuff on xbox live, made be people who like free stuff and read by people who love free stuff.

This has free stuff involved with it.

Questions?

Why Microsoft cares: free data for improving the Xbox Live service
Why you care: free stuff and improved Xbox Live service

Yeah the reason why there's four is that the lab coat has a male and female version. Don't know why they just couldn't make a unisex coat.

There is a boob-area on the female version. :p

Adding more detail to that, no body who used those codes will be banned, BUT instead they will be closely looked into by Microsoft to see if they have cheated on anything else.

Microsoft is just stupid because they never thought some CAG could figure out how to bypass their so SECURE website. The only encryption is
where you have your credit cards numbers. Microsoft only lost money because they are milking us with ripped off prices. Not be rude but I wish
it will happen again and the stuff leaks on CAG, and the word "CHEATED" is bull its more like "OUT SMARTED"
^^^ QFT
I'm sure TriskaidekaPunk would be singing a different tune if he got the free 160 MSP (or Banshee) promo email, only to find the code come up as used when he tried to redeem it. Or worse, traded it to someone and ends up looking like he tried to cheat them.......And, for some reason I doubt MS will be sending the intended 10,000 lucky users new codes. So, no real loss to MS.
True I would be pissed but PROMO is free... but if it was a guarantee freebie the MS should aid the victims but I bet MS didn't aid every still
one. but when you put it that way yeah that does suck, I agree but if MS didn't have such high avatar prices then there would be not no
where near as many CAGs to steal codes.
And please stop describing those who actually ripped off other gamers as CAGs. Cheap still implies you pay for it, they're more... TAGs, Thieving-ass gamers.
~yes I know people will pay for things just like high gas prices but that's not my point ether~
THIS FORM IS CALL FREE STUFF, you're here for free stuff, so Theif = FREE in blunt terms so being cheap leads to being a theif, not be wrong but
thieves steal bc they want it n 1)Have no money 2)Dont care to pay for it or 3)Find its Adeline rush more of a gift and broadly can be labeled as CHEAP.
I bet everyone on cag has stolen stuff before and would take free code for stuff and dont care where it came from just that its theirs now so shh.

**Stop commenting this dead subject, please**

The people that had their ms points/banshee codes stolen feel cheated I'm sure. These people having nothing to do with M$.

Admitedly the email URL was way too simple to spoof (simply incrementing the specific 4 digits zero through 9999). A simple checksum digit or two buried in there somewhere would have been all that was needed. Course, it wasn't like MS was cheated out of the codes... These were promotional 'free' codes that they spammed out to thousands of users... It was the intended recipients that were cheated. And, for some reason I doubt MS will be sending the intended 10,000 lucky users new codes. So, no real loss to MS.

I think the ice cream and cold stone is over priced but I wouldn't hop behind the counter and help myself if no one was watching. (I'd maybe ask my old roommate who manages one, but that's not the point either)

Avatar items are priced how they are because people buy them. Just like Activision and the COD maps. Do you think they would charge so much for maps if millions hadn't bought it?

And please stop describing those who actually ripped off other gamers as CAGs. Cheap still implies you pay for it, they're more... TAGs, Thieving-ass gamers.

... and once again, the thread goes to hell. Guys, can we PLEASE just post freebies found on Xbox Live and limit the chatter to a minimum.

/steps down from soapbox
Any free avatar content as of late?
There is the recent Xbox Live Labs stuff, and the temp dual lightsaber mistake over a week ago now. All I know of.

By doing these test you get 3 avatar items. 2 of them are pictured in the link and the other one is a hat that looks like the one Doc Brown wore in Back to the Future.

Its real easy and you can do it while you sleep, just have to leave your xbox on.
I did this last night. Just wanted to say thanks, and to let people know it's a little heavy on bandwidth. If I read my log right, I received 250MB and sent 4.7GB.
And here's the US version of the website:

http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/P...atory-01/e2bc9ea6-193b-4b7e-be95-1db3a56efc4c

Not sure what's included in it that makes it "mandatory."
It's probably mandatory because everyone needs to have the same version when connecting to the game's online servers. This was the DLC they promised for the gamers that bought it when the game launched with annoying bugs/glitches.

Those test still run from March 10-27 and you can have 4 profiles logged in and get achievements/awards for all four gamertags signed in.
*So yall know :applause:*

allright, it´s because i´m from europe , from portugal , but it seems the link works for us too so, i think that the credits for pointing that the content is free goes to me :bouncy: But if this is going to happen allways i´m going to stop posting free content,if the moderator keeps deleting. I see more often matters that doesn´t help anyone, and i don´t think deleting the ones who are trying to help is a GOOD thing to do....but that´s just me thinking offcourse. :booty::whistle2:#
