I 2nd the annoyance with the "are the games for this week free?" message that pops up constantly every Wednesday. Just keep an eye on CAG on Wednesdays/Thursdays, if they are free someone will surely post about it as has been the case every time it has happened.
Fable II was free last year. Swarm was free a few weeks ago, not over the weekend.
Uhh what? Louiedog is right, Fable was free sometime in the area of 6 months to a year ago and Swarm was free the day it came out, which I believe was March 30th. Nothing was free this past weekend/Easter.
FYI, I tried getting the Tron Legacy theme, it doesn't appear to be available any longer.
Seconded I have it on my main but my friend wanted me to load up his hdd with stuff and yeah no dice on Tron bc it is pretty cool theme

This may not work, but worth a try.
 1. Go to your Download History.
 2. While viewing your Download History, copy/paste/enter the following javascript commands into your browser's URL bar to (hopefully) add them to your Download Queue.
Tron: Legacy Gamer Picture Pack:
javascript:AddToQueue('00000004-0000-4000-8000-0000585708ff')

Tron: Legacy Theme Pack:
javascript:AddToQueue('00000005-0000-4000-8000-0000585708ff')

This type of URL manipulation sometimes worked on xbox.com before they made all of the changes last year, but it's likely to not work anymore.

This brings up an orange ! box that states, this item is no longer available, so in essence the method of pasting the script command, does work.

Doesn't work. Perhaps we'll find another hole. I figure it's just a matter of time.

it does work, but the content is gone completely.
Can anyone verify if it's still possible to get the "History of Gaming" theme, id like to know before I went and made a German account. Thanks in advance :D
I couldn't find out how you did the mini game or w/e it was that it wanted you to do.

Not sure if you still can.

No, the method doesn't work. I've used it to successfully add things I've bought to my queue, and it works for my friend's account if he already has the item. It gives the message that it's not available if he doesn't have it, though.

I think we should work on trying to copy content licenses.

No posts in longer than usual for such an active thread...

With the Javascript thing, can anyone confirm it is 100% not working? I am finding it a little hard to get that, so I can't check myself, but maybe it works with only certain items? Could someone check that it wont work with a couple of things?

Someone who understands it please test =)

I meant console locked, sorry. I meant, are they shareable in the way Aegis Wing/Yaris is free on any console (completely lacking DRM), or are they sharable in the way that any DLC is on the same console?

i don´t think so,because some of that games were free for mistake (like Ghostbusters and swarm) and if you didn´t download it with your gamertag then you can put it in your console by usb if is that what you are thinking... that is what they call piracy

@yatsl, the only arcade games that aren't console locked (that I can think of) are Aegis Wing, Hexic HD, Yaris, and Dash of Destruction.

@Warrior If we are talking about games that were originally free but are no longer on the marketplace, not mess-ups by Microsoft, then it's not piracy. It is perfectly legal to share free content as long as the company that provides that content doesn't start charging for it at a later date.

Wait let me get this straight. My buddy has downloaded Yaris on his console, but I never bothered to get it. If it's not console locked, I should be able to copy his game to my console, and he can re-download it. With an end result of us both having it. Correct?

At the risk of copyright infringement, being sued, and having your accounts banned.

Not really, since Yaris was promo material.

There's a burnable CD image floating around the net of Yaris/AegisWing and a couple of the other FREE / DRM Free games, it's not illegal/against TOS/piracy as they were free, and never cost any money.

[Xbox 360] Aegis Wing, Hexic HD, Dash of Destruction, Totem Ball, Yaris (Full Games)

if outside region to get these free games from xbox live get them here:
just burn iso to cd or dvd , when loaded it will come up as mixed media disc,
go to your arcade games and they will be listed and play from their.

If you go thru a bunch of trouble in order to get it, you will hate yourself forever. It has no redeeming qualities. This comes from a gamer who thinks Rock Revolution isn't that bad.
If you go thru a bunch of trouble in order to get it, you will hate yourself forever.
It is indeed "a bunch of trouble" to get Yaris, in the way that XXII Death IIXX described.
It is a lot easier to just burn Yaris to disc and then have it ready in a couple minutes instead of getting someone else involved.

Just because they were free doesn't mean that copyright infringement wouldn't apply. The important thing would be if the terms of distribution require they can only be obtained through the XBL service.

Yes, because Microsoft gave us the option to copy arcade games, and just happened to leave the free arcade games non console-locked just so that we'll copy them and get sued and/or banned. Really guys? I'm no expert, but if Microsoft was dead set against sharing free content, they would have made it console locked or prevented copying.

They are ALL advertisements

You think Doritos plans on getting into gaming?! HA!, they outsourced to someone so they could slap Doritos all over it
At the risk of copyright infringement, being sued, and having your accounts banned.
lmao, i hope you are trolling because anyone who thinks this is an actual risk on any level is a complete tool

All the free non-console locked games that are still free (Yaris, Dash of Destruction, etc) are all perfectly fine to copy, else Microsoft wouldn't have allowed that in the first place. It's only wrong if said game would start having a price tag, but the thing is, they never did (as they were free advergames) and never will.

Yeah, the free games are free and unlocked on purpose; no potential harm in getting them from an outside source. And even if there was, I highly doubt Microsoft is taking a look at every instance of someone playing a game that was available for free download just to see if the game was downloaded by that Xbox or not.

Also haven't played Yaris, but I've also heard it isn't worth the effort except for some achievements.

i was explaining that the "mess-ups by Microsoft" like swarm or ghostbusters, are console locked and so are piracy if you get them by usb. But maybe something got lost in translation because my english is poor.
I´m portuguese as i told before, and i was trying to help.
Thanks any way mate for your opinion :bouncy:
