And don't forget that Crazy Taxi on XBLA won't even come with the original music...
Crazy Taxi without The Offspring isn't Crazy Taxi...

Thank goodness you can use your own custom soundtracks in Crazy Taxi. That way you can have an entire Offspring or Bad Religion album to listen to while you play instead of the same 5 songs repeated ad nauseum (there are 3 other songs that don't play during actual gameplay). In other words, who cares if the original music is included or not?
That Indie Game that is like Tetris Attack: Well WORTH the 80 points.
Tried it tonight. It felt like one of the more polished Indie titles I've played. Could easily be an XBLA or Wiiware game. Heck, DSiWare too.

I've never been a huge fan of games like that, but if you are, it's a great deal.

I think that game is called Arkedo Swap 2, and I agree.

It's just too bad it's only a 1-player game
.

Because it was 5 bucks. I bought it too. Honestly, I don't think this game is that bad for $5 though. Yes, $10 is too much, but $5 is pretty well priced considering what you're getting.
Yeah you are right, I mean they really miss the boat on lots of games because at 5 bucks I am sitting there drinking a beer like aww fuck it who cares I loved this game and at that price I never feel screwed, but at 10 bucks even wasted i stop and think.. well should I really buy this?
Why not just think of it as a $15 game?
Because 15 dollars for that game is laughable. Which is why they split it up I'm sure.
I guess you could say Geometry Wars is only 5 minutes long and not worth the $5 asking price.

For every "shmups are way too short" post there must be a "shmups are designed to be played repeatedly for the sake of better scores" reply. There, now the universe is in perfect balance once again. :)
I'm not complaining about shmup's in general, just "Omega Five" in particular for it's length. It felt like an appetizer ffs. Pretty much all other shmup's I've played are perfectly fine.

Wait, wait they're including NONE of those places Tech?! Jeez I know it's technically still "Crazy Tax" but having those places added a charm to it which will now, sadly, be absent.

This week, I picked up Gyromancer since the demo seemed pretty solid. One of those games I never would have paid $15 for, but at $10, it seemed to be a good buy.

I also picked up Bust-a-Move for $5, since you really can't go wrong at that price.

Not interested at all in Tower Bloxx, and after playing Puzzle Chronicles for two minutes, I deleted it from my hard drive to hopefully never offend my eyes again. What a POS.

I bought Gyromancer when it came out, as I needed a jewel-matching game to help with the wait until Puzzle Quest 2. Gyromancer isn't bad. I don't think it's worth $15, but $10 is okay. It gets repetitive, like those kind of games do. The storyline is worthless, but the art style is pretty neat.
Shmups are essentially derived from classic arcade games, where you play to win the most points. I don't think you can apply it most console games these days.
You'd need only to simply add a score mechanic. It doesn't even have to be well thought out. Most shmup mechanics aren't even that well thought out.

Just because there is a spinning number at the top of the screen doesn't really imbue the game with innate replayability that other games lack. Hell, MW1 had an scoring mode and most every shmup elitist has a two minute hate of all first person shooters each morning just to cleanse their system.

Hell, I've got thirty flash and casual games that are meant to be replayed for score all within arm's reach. It's NOT a badge of honor. It's a flavor that some like, most don't, and I refuse to blame the ones that don't.

I am reminded of other games that clock in under an hour and a half and traffic in "being like old games" actually sold for reasonable prices. Mega Man 9 and 10, just off the top of my head.

I'm not saying DS is a bad game. Not by a long shot. I've cleared it six or seven times myself, but I refuse to grade it on some sort of curve just for being a briskly paced dot-dodging game at $40 MSRP. That's just silly and I can't stand how half the internet goes apoplectic when shmups get reviewed by people who, guess what, don't get off on repeating the same 45 minute stretch of dot dodging over and over and thus get reviewed and valued AS games that last 30 minutes and are meant to be played for score.
(subjective arguments goes here)

So, when you cut through your entire post, you're just upset that people are vocal that they find enjoyment in a particular aspect of a genre that you don't agree with? That they don't praise other genres in the same breath as shmups?

I'd also like to say Mega Man 9 & 10, and FPS games are also extremely enjoyable, but won't. I don't want to put myself at risk for the "I'm tried of people who apologize for Mega Man games" reply.

If we're just playing the everything is subjective game, then there's no basis on which to have a discussion. Good day.

Exactly, your argument is every bit as "hollow" as mine. :)

Yeah, I think MS missed the mark on this one - at $7.50 I think I would have bought it for sure. I'm going to hold off at $10 though. I still haven't even finished Puzzle Quest so I can just go play that again if I need a puzzle/RPG fix ;).

I think I will probably get Bust-A-Move, though, as I've never really played that game before despite owning a few different versions and hearing about it all the time.
I know someone posted a few pages back that next week's deal is Left 4 Dead 2 DLC, but has there been any official word on that yet?
I don't believe so, at least not from Major Nelson, yet.

You mean this post?
edit: Apparently next week it looks like it's "Left For Dead 2" additional content. X-(
It's the Japanese DotW. I'll add it.

left 4 dead 2 dlc is the only item going to be on sale as deal of the week? more like deal of the weak. they need to add more content to that deal next week or just put a solid blockbuster game on sale like say deathspank which came out a few months ago. @ 800 ms points i'm sure it would sell and a new one is coming out already soon so it would be a good idea as well..

I think they are trying to make a push b/c the L4D1-2 crossover comic just came out and the new DLC hits 10/5

Also, sorry it took so long to add that. I didn't check the JP Dotw as they have been lagging behind and MajorNelson has been on-top sales lately.
As much as I love Xbox Live Arcade. PS network has been owning them on sales for most of the year. They need to pick up their game.
Whaaaa?

anyway, 4 bucks for the passing is still too much. should've been free. damn you M$
Exactly, your argument is every bit as "hollow" as mine. :)
That's a subjective statement you are entirely free to believe if you wish.

What sales do you speak of? Oh, that one where they FINALLY got Castle Crashers or the one where they haven't released the new Tomb Raider game? Yeah, those sales were epic.

Xbox Live has had sales on

Bionic Commando RE
Afterburner Climax
Vandal Hearts
Mega Man 10
Panzer General

etc. etc.

Joey under the Japanese DOTW area they mentioned Left 4 Dead 2 DLC so if that's the only DLC for it then surely that's the deal.
edit: By the way, on Gyromancer, it seems fun but just like PQ with more depth. Any comments from people who've played the full version? Also did EnixSquare actually develop it or did PopCap?
Well thanks for some of the comments utopian.
Destro what do you think about new deals? Think we'll see one for Afterburner Climax, MM10 or Bionic Commando Rearmed any time soon?
Between Halo fever and "game feast" we might not see games on sale for awhile.

That didn't take long.

Look, Im fine with them going between arcade games and DLC. Anyone remember when the DotW would be a music video?

I wouldn't mind some "Lips" songs on sale frankly sean.

Also, I would LOVE to see MS offer Avex Trax stuff on "Lips" exclusively. I mean getting the m-Flo songs. I doubt some of the stuff I've uploaded, like BoA's "iD Peace B", will ever see a song chart and video included. :whistle2:(

Sony should put Crystal Kay up on Singstar since she's under them, record label wise, but fat chance of that.
edit: Oh and MS saying that Xbox originals might be on sale with DOTW, has that EVER happened? I would like to see it with "Psychonauts" and "Indigo Prophecy".
That's a subjective statement you are entirely free to believe if you wish.
I was really hoping you'd be the one to take the high road and not pull the same low brow "I turned the tables on you" stunt that I did, but there you have it.
Jesus, so everything in game feast will be 15.00 too? :/
I predict all future events such as Game Feast, Summer of Arcade etc from here on out will have games all at the same pricepoint during the promotion. I believe every game to show up in such a past promotion has already gone on sale (some multiple times) at one point or another, however. Just have to have patience for some of them, I suppose.
Jesus, so everything in game feast will be 15.00 too? :/
Give it time, by this kind of progression, next year's summer arcade games may be $20. Last year, they were all $10, this year $15...we'll have to wait and see.

Xbox-Japan has had separate DotW or changed them after listing them, that why I put the note. I would hate to mislead people.
Weren't lips songs on sale with the big music dlc download deal? Or was that RB only?
There were lots of Lips songs on sale in the LIVEpolloza sale. Check the second post if you are curios.

I'll add the arcade news tomorrow am. Thanks MrErin

Ok joey. I thought it was universal with Japan DOTW too. Well I suppose unless it's Idolmaster or something else.
I know joey. It's just we haven't seen anything "Lips" on sale since. Is LIVEpolloza annual or what?
Last year, they were all $10,
That's not true at all. Trials HD, Marvel vs Capcom 2, and Shadow Complex were and are all 1200 points.

Whoops, totally forgot about those even though I bought MvsC2 and Shadow Complex at those prices. I stand corrected!
Are we sure that we might not get the same Rock Band tracks PS3 is getting this week on sale? At least, that is what I am hoping for.
It was mentioned on the PS Blog that the Rock Band content sale is PS3 exclusive.

left 4 dead 2 dlc price is up on the site but when added comes to 560 :/ damn slow servers.

update: it's up and working on the dashboard under game add-ons. 320 ms points

And to the idiot who said psn hasnt had good SALES. Not having two games doesn't effect sales. PSn has had games on sale every week thsi year, 4-6 games at a time ranging from solid titles like sotn to soldner-x bundles to locoroco midnight carnival. It's been a very solid variety.

Hell, if MS was smart they would start dropping prices on games that never sold. Screwattack is still 800, I've never seen it on anyones card. Hell, I'd buy that pos for $5 to add it to my played list.

They weren't all $10 last year. I think the only 2 games that were priced at $20 were Penny Arcade Ep1 and PQ: Galactrix. Neither of those games did well.

I'm not sure what game will be ballsy enough to be priced at $20.

Xbox Indies really has the $1-$5 games covered well, so it's only going to be $10-15 for XBLA.

I don't remember PSN having anything close to these deals. Comparing PSN's sales to XBL is a joke. :shame:

Heck, I sprung for Globe Tracker. Tried to get into Gyromancer for the 2nd time and passed on it. Maybe for 600 points, but not 800. It looks good on the graphics end, but gameplay seems kind of boring for a puzzle game.

Wonder when/if Xbox is getting Clash of Heroes: Might & Magic?
Alien Breed Episode 2 out 9/22
Wonder what the price is, the first one was okay. If its only 800 points, i might bite since it has Avatar Awards, otherwise, Deathspank for me ^_^
