Live music dvd's

Dicerion

CAGiversary!
Im looking to buy one or two and im not sure what i reall want to look for, i was wondering if anybody can give their opinion on whats good and what you own. Im looking for something along the lines of classic rock. I was looking at dvd's of the stones, santana, and p funk, and i just wanted some opinions. Also where is a good place to purchase. Thanks.:D

It's not exactly classic rock, but one of my favorite live music DVDs is U2 Live From Slane Castle released back in 2001 or 2002 from their Elevation Tour. Amazon is usually one of the best places to get back catalog CDs and DVDs since you save on tax and shipping, plus they are usually 15-20% off list price.

if you haven't seen it

that looks like a pretty good dvd, ill have to check for prices,

Edit: I don't know how much live footage is on here but i think im looking for something with more live stuff, this does look nice though, may still pick it up for the hll of it

for just a straight up concert vid of the stones, i'd say Bridges To Babylon for a new(er) tour. imo they should have stopped touring after Tattoo You, but I'm hardcore

a completely insane TV concert with a lot of bands incl. The Stones is Rock n Roll Circus

if you like The Who then this is a must see. CRAZY footage of Keith Moon and Pete Townshend. it's also really a circus atmosphere with all the bands kind of mingling together. a little weird b/c they are all f*cked up, but you can see how they were actually dysfunctional friends at that point.

for the ultimate old school Stones show look for the Hyde Park DVD(s). this is the era when Keith R. actually still looks young and like a human being. (69 or 70)

*edit*

good P-Funk DVDs are hard to find and good quality boots can sell for lots of $$$.

don't know about Santana either.. but that dude shreds

yeah i saw the circus dvd and ive seen it on tv before, its pretty good, how bout anything with the doors. I haven't seen anything good with the original band.

Pink Floyd Pulse and Live at Pompeii are both seven flavors of awesome.

Also I absolutely love Hard Day's Night and the Beatles Anthology (not exactly live music, but along the same vein).

Page and Plant No Quarter (or Unledded) is a pretty good watch too.

Also not exactly classic rock but I think the Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire Live at the Greek Theater is excellent, it has awesome video and sound quality.

EWF live is BOMB

KISSology 1 & 2 are out now. 70's-80's rare concert footage and interviews. Also included is the Kiss movie.

Jimmy Page/Robert Plant, Unledded. Great show, aired on MTV in 1994 then disappeared until just last year when the DVD was released.

Of course Metallica's oldest video release, Cliff 'Em All, is pretty excellent if you dig that band.

Finall, Rush in Rio, or the r30 tour DVD's are great. There is also a dvd set that has 3 concert vids and then an audio cd, I think it's the rx3 set or something. Either way, it's 'Exit stage left', 'Show Of Hands', 'Grave Under Pressure' and then the accompanying audio CD for Grave Under Pressure tour.

Rock on

I have and like the following:

Eagles Farewell I Tour - Awesome video and audio!
Eagles Hell Freezes Over DTS
Live Aid Box Set
Live 8 Box Set
Paul McCartney - Back in the US
Phil Collins - Finally Farewell Tour
Pink Floyd - Pulse

If you like Country, I would recommend:

Alison Krauss & Union Station Live
An Evening with the Dixie Chicks

[quote name='y2jedi']Hallucino Genetics by Primus. I picked it up last year at BB B&M for $9.99.

They do the entire Frizzle Fry album for the 2nd set, good stuff indeed.

$12.99 online
