Local Multiplayer?

So today I bought a PS3 after 5 years of the Wii60 life.
The first pair of games I've bought are Killzone 3 and Demon's Souls, and I have my eye on GW3, Yakuza 3 and Uncharted 2 for the next gohastings B2G1 sale. I also can't wait for Journey to come out.

Anyway, as I unpackaged my shiny new console and pulled out the controller, my girlfriend exclaimed with a cry of disappointment "Only one controller?!".
On 360 we've played a lot of Borderlands, Castle Crashers, Left 4 Dead and fighting games.

Can you guys recommend me some PS3 games with good local multiplayer so I can justify buying another controller for it?

Resistance 3 has an awesome local co-op campaign. I'd also try Black Ops, Battlefield 3 (yet to come out), or Modern Warfare 3 (yet to come out). Also i've heard that Dead Island is a good co-op game and it's like Borderlands.
 
Dead Island is co-op online only. No local.

Download pixeljunk monsters from the playstation store. Also, warhawk, Resistance 1 and 2, motortorm pacific rift/apocalypse, fat princess, and a few others. PM me if you want some real details. I have too many suggestions to make.
 
First benefit of having 2 controllers is when the battery runs low on one, you can turn it off, put it on the charger, and pick-up and continue playing with the second one. That's what I use mine for like 80% of the time.
