Super Paper Mario has awful, boring, sleep inducing dialog. To make things even worse, it scrolls slowly, and makes annoying noises.

This is coming from someone who played through the first phoenix wright in a matter of days. I also played through Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario, the two Mario and Luigi games, and Paper Mario 2, and loved them all.

I have no problem with lots of dialog, but if you're going to force me to sit through it, it better be good. SPM's dialog is not entertaining. It's a waste of time.

I imagine the dialog is a bit "kiddy" like the last one, but how's the gameplay? is it as fun as it looks?

I only played 'till chapter 5 of SPM before putting it on the back-burner, but things were solid till then IMO.

I think RE4 is all the same for the Wii version as far as item locations and such.

SPM dragged for me in stages 5-7. 1-3 were just getting amazingly good, and 8 was the best of them all. Just realize that it's not a "platformer with RPG elements tacked on" it's a Paper Mario game with platofrming stuff tacked on. It's another Mario RPG with the combat system changed from turn-based to platformer-based.

That said, I still think it was a solid game. An easy 8.5 in my book.

The platforming in Chapter 8 was excellent. I found the dialog slow with some redeeming humor at various parts, but from what I recall, you could click through it very quickly, so it wasn't game-breaking.
I'd still prefer to get Let's Meow Meow on the Wii. D-girls are not attractive.
I'd prefer wii-makes of classic 70s porn.

Thanks for the advice guys. RE and SPM it is.

What I'm playing..

I just started up in Diablo II again recently. I'm playing with my old roomate (Battle.Chicken on USWest for all Blizzard games.. playing sorc named 'ChickyMcGee' if anyone wants to look me up)

I've been playing some RTS lately.. Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne and Starcraft:Brood War.

Playing through Pokemon Firered, so I can trade Mewtwo and the 3 birds to my copy of Pokemon Pearl.

So.. I'm playing games right now that I've had for the last two years.. while I'm sitting on about 30 games I've picked up on the cheap over the last three months. I picked up Lost Planet for the 360 on launch day... still haven't played it.

One of these days I'll make a XLS of my current games and a trade list.. I really need to pare down my collection...

Started Enchanted Arms (again), this time with Japanese voices.

Now its actually tolerable. Got about 2 or 3 hours in. I may actually continue this instead of getting rid of it. It's something to keep me busy until Persona 3 comes out.

Just started RE4 for teh Wii today. Yeah, it's great. I mean, seriously, I've played like 45 minutes and I'm already seeing once again that there's really nothing on next gen systems that measures up to this.

Anyway, the Wii controls are better than I expected. The pointer isn't wonky as it was in some of the gameplay videos I saw, so that's good.

bomberman for me today... I am horrible superbly horrible at it.

also over the past 2 days I played cardfighters DS nonstop once the non glitched cart came in. my eyes hurt now.

Dumped The Darkness at FYE for 39.60. I was tempted to also drop Big Brain Academy Wii Degree, but then I realized it could be very fun at school. I'm down to only 3 PS3 games now :hot:. I'm going to have to pick up Lair and Heavenly Sword to beef that up a bit ;)

I want to sell my copy but I'm having trouble letting it go.

Probably because I made it such a big deal that I got it at release

It was honestly tough for me too. Mostly because it is just such a cool game. However, with so many new games coming out in the following months, I couldn't consciously hold onto it.

I'm playing through RE4 (Wii) for the second time trying to get the Infinite Launcher. I've got about 700,000 saved up plus the fully upgraded Riot Gun which is worth like 225,000 in trade-in. As soon as my money plus Riot Gun = 1,000,000 the launcher is mine and I will be blasting fools all over the map.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The rest of the year is going to be insane. Off the top of my head I plan to get Persona 3 this month, LAIR next month, Heavenly Sword after that, Ratchet, Assassins Creed, Uncharted, and Devil May Cry 4 if it makes it out this year...

That might be kind of expensive :p
better keep a pistol on hand for when someone grabs Ashley ;)
I've got the Red9 all maxed out - isn't there a way to get infinite health for Ashley or something? It would be totally sweet to send a rocket her way as she's getting carried away and blow everything up except for her and her giant cans.

When you get the other costumes, she is wearing knights armor. You can shoot her all you want and she won't die.

And when they try to pick her up they fall over because she's too heavy :p

I forgot about the DS and PSP games I'll be buying. Castlevania and Zelda both look fantastic.

Oh, and I should mention I will pick up Umbrella Chronicles based on reviews.
I guess I never really noticed that (although I've not touched a controller S in about a year). I always preferred the triggers on the Xbox pad after I played a few minutes of Halo and a bit of a racing game. Playing any racing game with the face buttons as accelerate and brake just feels really off to me now.

Sadly, Sony didn't quite get it when they stole the concept for the SIXAXIS. Convex triggers where your fingers slip off when pressing down on them aren't exactly capturing what makes the Microsoft designs work so well. But, whatever.
I've yet to have a problem with using the triggers on the Sixaxis. They're in a comfortable position and they're easy to use for me.

Racing games on the Xbox are just painful to play, though I suffered through when I was enjoying PGR2 a lot.
Shit, looking at these lists reminded me of some games I forgot about.

I'm planning on getting 44 fucking games. @#)EU!#()@
Wow, those lists above are pretty impressive. Extremely impressive, actually. I really wish I had the time - and this is NOT a statement of "fucking youth wasting time playing games while I work and go to school" but rather an insight into a stupidly pointless life of an overloaded grad student.

To provide much needed contrast to video game veterans above (I tip my hat to you, gents):

:ds:
Hotel Dusk

:gc:
Super Smash Bros. Melee (duh)

:ps2:
God of War & God of War 2
(Just beat both last week. Loved the first one, thought the second one was allright).

That's pretty much all I've been playing for now. Oh, Pikmin, yeah.

Ohh, why did I look at this thread. y'all reminded me that it's going to be a really painful holiday if I buy (or can't buy) what I want to buy this year:

:360:
Halo3
Mass Effect
Eternal Sonata
Virtua Fighter 5
Ace Combat 6
Bioshock
**upgrade to Halo3 Limited Edition console

:wii:
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Zack & Wiki

:ds:
Zelda Phantom Hourglass (thanks for not telling me this was avail for pre-order Amazon...again)
Card Fighters DS (it's out now, but will get the fixed version later)
Rune Factory
Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword

:psp:
Slim PSP Entertainment Pack w/Daxter & Family Guy

:ps3:
Ninja Gaiden Sigma
GT5 Prologue

Cross platform titles I'm on the fence, but will get for one or the other system when more info is available:
Rock Band
GTIV

This isn't counting titles I might've forgotten, sale or clearance games I can't resist, or XBLA/VC content.

There's no way I can really afford every thing, but I'll be lookin' for deals and prioritizing what I want to play as the release dates etc get close.

I'm going to get killed for many reasons. I only have an Xbox 360 and I want so many games, and add that to the fact I have a job this summer and the money to afford them all, so I will end up buying them all.

Bioshock
Halo 3
Mass Effect
Eternal Sonata
GTA IV
Call of Duty 4
Brothers in Arm: Hells Highway
Lost Odyssey
Assassin's Creed
Half Life 2: The Orange Box
NBA 2k8
skate
Katamari
Splinter Cell Conviction
Kane and Lynch
Lego Star Wars Saga
Virtua Fighter 5

edit: Plus I want to: rebuy Oblivion, buy Guitar Hero 2, buy Forza 2, buy FEAR, and get some XBLA games I missed.

Man 2007 is easily the year of the Xbox.

I flip flopped again on my computer and this guy finally e-mailed me back that is going to sell me the last 12" ibook G4 released(released in early 2006), its practically new and still has almost 2 years of applecare. He's selling it to me for $400. I'm canceling my 7800gtx order.

Wii--

Umbrella Chronicles
Metroid
Galaxy
Brawl

PS3--
Heavenly Sword
Uncharted
PSN Games

360--
BioShock
Halo 3
Mass effect

And Burnout on either the 360 or PS3. I'll probably hold off on some just so I can finish other games.

Played a bit of:

RE Wii--Not so sure I'm ready for a 4th time through and the Wii controls didn't feel like they added much.

Super Paper Mario-- love switching between 2-d and 3-d. I wish there was a run button-- I keep pressing the 1 button out of instinct, even though he doesn't run! I'd like to slap whoever thought to map 1+2 to bring you to the menu.

So far, it's as good as I had hoped. I was very hyped for this when the first teaser vid came out. you guys are right, there is more dialog than an MGS game

I remember you being hyped about SPM. Wasn't your icon the 8-bit mario and your tag-line was "born again nintendo fan?" ;)

Also, have you bought every current gen system twice now?

There's so many games coming out. There's bound to be some juicy discounts on some of the good games that the public won't buy.

Getting ready to play a buddy in Madden then I'll fire up some Gears later. And no I'm not ashamed to say I'm playing Madden.

It made me believe. but you know...like 3 games have come out since then so I wasn't feeling it any more. The wii scale squashed it altogether
now I take the secular approach.

Yeah, I have bought them all twice...kinda.

Selling the collection is becoming addictive. Watching that paypal account grow is more fun than any game I've played in the last year. Goodbye to gaming? Possible.

Goodbye to the current gen of gaming, maybe. I love the older stuff I play, but yeah, most of the newer stuff makes me question if I really do like gaming at all.

Might have found a buyer for the 360. It's hard to get rid of the really old stuff, like NES/SNES because of childhood memories, and they aren't worth anything anyway. I think I might just keep the portables, and the older stuff, and trim down the collection to 20ish games for GameCube, PS2, and portables.

I'm a lot more interested in real life stuff lately. Oddly, I still am interested in the business, industry side. I like listening to podcasts more than playing the games..

You know Microsoft is in need of a Corporate VP in its Entertainment and Devices division.

I think some of it might have come with my last breakup having a small part to do with my enjoying videogames, as a part of general incompatible interests. She was a nature freak, country girl, liked line dancing and couldn't stand the city. It's always been a sticking point in relationships, and finding a girl that likes them just plain doesn't happen, I don't think it'd matter even if it did. It's not something I really want to deal with being a distraction in future relationships or life in general. Playing video games makes me feel guilty lately.

I'd love peter moore's job. Or working at 1up/another games magazine. Problem is there's 100,000 assholes who think they can do it, 1,000 who can, and 100 who do. It's not a realistic career pursuit.

go ahead...gotta pull it off like a band aid though. Sounds like you're getting ready for some soul searching...as your lawyer, I advise you to buy a fast car with no top and drive to Las Vegas.

My wife doesn't love games (though she will take any opportunity she can to destroy me at Dr. Mario and give me a run for my money in Tetris), but she tolerates them and encourages me to use them as a way to unwind.

In a way, maybe that's better. That way our interests don't run into each other. "Um, sweetie, can I play Resident Evil 4?" "Not yet, I'm playing Cooking Mama!" ;) Thankfully, her interests and talent are in the kitchen making too-good food.

Btw, my Halo 2 impressions do not come from online, they come from single player. I could not play online due to problems getting an update installed, allowing me to logon. Let me clarify, I like the first Halo MORE than Killzone. The first Halo MIGHT be my favorite FPS ever. Don't EVER trust my opinion on FPS, since its the genre I hate most (that and western RPGs), so there are very few games I like in the genre (PDZ happens to be my favorite 360 FPS, and we all know how many hate that game, and I absolutely hate CoD games).
Dude....you're arguing with Mana Knight.
It's not right to laugh at the retarded kids.
Don't make me come by your place and kick your butt. I have a good friend in real life from your hometown, so I could swing by and do that. :p
Is no one else laughing at Mana Knight shilling for a game that isn't even out yet?
Oops, I just caught that, I meant to say Killzone. Due to watching that Killzone 2 video too much, that's what I thought of. Excuse my typos, I make a lot of them (that end up saying something else. Like one time I meant to say bring exclusives to PS3, I said bring exclusives to me).
I heard that Kaz Hirai captured Mana Knight at a young age and brainwashed him. It makes sense, considering his ridicilously fucking awful opinions on anything and everything.

TMK I don't dislike you as an internet persona, you are just the most fucking ridicilous fanboy I've ever seen in my life. If you weren't 24, I'd say grow the fuck up.
I mentioned before, I made a mistake, I meant Killzone. I will tell you, I just really love video games too much (especially PlayStation) and I'm very passionate about supporting them. I don't need to re-post what I said about my feelings towards gaming again, since I don't need every CAG member quoting my posts in their sigs again.

Take a look at my game collection, I buy just every every platform and play just about every platform. Although my collection isn't completely balanced now (due to being in the process to get rid of 60 more games), but it will get there. There's no denying I like all my PlayStation platforms, but the SNES and Dreamcast are two of my five favorite platforms ever. Also, I had a lot of love for the GBA before. I don't have as much love (but still like) the Xbox brand, but it continues to have many holes in series/genres I love most. Nintendo does a better job filling the stuff I like, but they are my least favorite first party wise personally (I've never been a Zelda, Metroid, etc. fan, and I'm not a big fan of SSB, since I prefer a more traditional fighter like Tekken or Guilty Gear). PlayStation is just perfect for me and Sony has treated me well (Just look at all the stuff I've gotten for being a PlayStation Underground Member since 1996 and a PlayStation G.A.P. Member since 2003).

Well, for the first time yesterday, my PSP's battery died while playing a game. I got so addicted to PaRappa The Rapper yesterday, that I just kept playing and could not stop. I freaking love the game and I still can't stop playing. By the rate I'm going, I may never get around to playing Tales of the World: RM

As for Enchanted Arms, I don't understand why people hate the game. It was my favorite 360 game released last year, and it happens to be one of my favorite PS3 games currently. I'll admit the game is far from being one of the best RPGs, but its fun and I find the story interesting. I find the battles to be fun too. The only thing I really dislike about it is the soundtrack. I'd give it a 7/10, but I still think its underrated.
