God damn this game is fun. It is totally original, completely non-threatening and the music and gameplay kick ass. Anyone who thinks creativity in video games is dying these days MUST play this game.

Yeah I enjoyed the demo, I downloaded it and got a copy from gamestop. Im interested to see how the entire game plays out and if it will keep my interest for very long. I kind of see the gameplay getting repetitive. but maybe not.

need a price drop, but I definitely want it at some point.

Wow... thought this game was only $29.99. $39.99 is way too much to pay for it, imo. I'm hoping someone puts it on sale soon. The demo was badass, though, and like Apossum I definitely want to pick it up. Just too much stuff on September I want to get otherwise.

That IGN review was a little hard to follow, I still don't get the point to the game, unless it's just collecting things and getting to the end of the level.

Really great game. Bought it today, and I am loving it. It does seem like it might be a bit on the short side though. Great music. :D

That is the point but the execution is brilliant (especially the music). It is actually really fun to try and collect everything (for once).

I'm with Roufuss on this one too. Plus, I'm against forcing "hip creative games" down everyone's throat. What made Katmari sweet, besides being fucking sweet, is that it was a total gamble for Namco on both sides of the pond. And from that a legendary game was born. And the price was hella right at $19.99 and then $29.99 for the sequel. But this shit... $40? My ass. Game didn't cost that much to make. It's a fun $19.99 game. I'm not buying into the hype this time... I'm just too much of a CAG.

With that said, yeah I think it's pretty fun from the demos (I've played three different stages so far from all the demos available) but it's really easy it seems. I would like a soundtrack and 3 foot inflatable Loco Roco though. Dead serious.

I know you guys heard about that contest on vh1.com right?

I will be picking this up in a week or two for $30 used I'm sure. Seems like alot of people will be getting this not knowing what it is.

Word. Seems too "Katamari" to me. Don't get me wrong, I

The entire community whines about how the PSP suffers from too many ports and remakes, but when a original (and great) game is released, everyone bashes it too. Man, what does it take to please you people???

On a side note, the game is not a Katamari rip-off. Nothing like that game.

Midgets in bondage and ice cream on my chest...wait, what were we talking about?!

agreed that it's nothing like Katamari, except that it's probably influenced by it..which is not a bad thing at all.

Why do you think it was influenced by Katamari? Are all Japanese quirky games mutually conceived? I don't follow your logic......

no, definitely not making a general statement about Japanese games. or using any logic, for that matter. It's more of an intuition...there are similarities to Katamari that may indicate an influence, in my mind.

--cutesy abstract characters
--solid, vivid colors (many pastels)
--that you are a rolling blob that can add to it's mass by rolling up smaller things. though this isn't the crux of the gameplay, it's a major element.
--the soundtrack is also cut specifically for the game, has lyrics in-game like Katamari, and is also poppy, like some of Katamari's soundtrack.

aside from these, Loco Roco is totally its own thing. I just wouldn't be surprised if the developer felt somewhat inspired by Katamari (as a game and as an underdog success story..)
That is amazing. It's not Japanese, right? They just made up the whole language I think...
its definitely not Japanese

back on topic, where might I get a demo for this game?

Well-put. After reading that, I understand your point of view. You do have a point.

I guess my point of contention stems from the fact that I really am loving this game a lot, while Katamari just got on my nerves. Maybe a little defensive. ;)

(Just realized how much I used the word "point" in that post. I'm a rucking fetard.)
I still need to order the soundtrack for this... I'll probably have the soundtrack before I get the game since I'm short on money.
Could you pm me when you get it! Pretty Please!!! ^_^!

LOCO roco was great for a bit, the Core gameplay doesn't sync with me though. The Art style really shines and the music too
All they need to do is have the kid holding a kitty and she'd be just about the cutest kid ever.
Her cuteness would be more destructive than Godzilla in ancient Babylon.

Plus she makes Jon Benet look like a crack doll. :D
Do you pick which language it's in at the beginning?
Yes, you do... (defaults to American Flag when I boot it up).

Great game! I had gotten to World 5 and put it away for a bit. Then I tried to get through that to unlock the next - I fear it may be the last one though because the end level was WAY harder than all the others. I actually couldn't finish it on my first try. It was never a problem to finish all the other levels. That one will be a bitch to get through with 20 LocoRoco's (which I've only managed to do on 2 levels so far).

You have air bubbles pushing you up into the spiky things, which you have to get close to so you can swing around a few obstacles. I lost 13 or so LocoRoco's on them (because they fall below the bubbles and there's no way you can save them) and finally lost the last one and died - I didn't even know that could happen :D.

Lumines, Shoomines, I think this is a WAY better puzzlish game (yes, I realize it is more of a platformer, but it has puzzle elements) and I hope this one gets a sequel - they could do SO MUCH more with it. How about downloaded levels for the next one? Eh? I have yet to download the Wipeout updates despite having that game from launch - I'd kill for more LocoRoco levels though.

Anybody else fool around with the LocoRoco House mode? I keep finding myself playing it, though the LocoRoco's stupidity bugs the crap out of me. Now that I got some bumpers, an air blower, and a super-long curved ice piece, it's a lot easier to get pieces at the house itself.

Yeah, I've been doing that a bit. But the problem is you end up getting most of the crappy 1 star pieces that you get repeatedly in the game anyway. The best way to get rarer pieces seems to be the claw game - go in with 2000+ points and you can snag just about every piece in there and there are usually several 3 star pieces. Plus my kids like doing that game. My 3 year-old keeps bugging me to play LocoRoco so he can play the claw minigame :D.

Thanks for the tip. I don't think I've played Claw more than once, if that. Just unlocked a new minigame today (evidently the key is getting the little coin-like fruits in levels), dealing with those long-nosed blower characters tossing your LocoRoco in a maze.

I never realized about the star value on pieces, either. I'm sick of getting letters of the alphabet. I rarely use them, because they're small and the collision usually prevents them from plugging holes anyway.

This game is just ... too damn cute ....

Am I the only one that tries to sing along with the game and hold down the circle button just to annoy friends?

I've been. I grabbed about six or seven pieces in the smaller house, then the game starts putting them in insane areas(above the house). Then I went back to the main game.

I wish the loco house let you build your own levels. that would make the game perfection.

I just got a PSP a few days ago, and downloaded the Loco Roco demo on Sunday. I played through it twice that day, and then again yesterday. Needless to say, I love it, and I just got home from CC with a brand new copy. I haven't been this excited about a game in a long time.

Speak of the devil: I just unlocked a minigame where you can build your own levels. It's pretty basic, but was fun. Made a simple level and gave it to my wife to try to beat. I heard something about uploading them online, but I haven't messed with that yet.

I just got to world 5, and unlocked the 5th Locoroco type a few levels back. I'm getting more 20-Loco levels now than I was before; maybe I've just learned how to tackle the stages and find hidden stuff.

How did you unlock it? I might have to take out Bomberman and give Loco Roco some more time.

After a while, it does feel like there is a system to the hidden stuff..

I'm pretty sure unlocking mini-game modes is tied to the number of those pink berries you collect. So keep collecting them, and eventually you should get it.
