Yes, they were. The two refurbished controllers that I got were just fine.

Both of mine have died, one of them occasionally freezes input for 5 seconds, and the other 'drifts' a lot. a friend of mine has lost 2 of them as well.

these were new, not refurb, they lasted about 2 years or so before dying.

back to wired controllers for my ps2 for now.
