June 14th UPDATE: Deal is back!
360 Console and Remote must be purchased between 4/1/06 and 9/30/06
You will need your receipt and 360 box (UPC) for this rebate, but you do not need to have purchased it at

Since this is almost $40 off its $130 MSRP, I thought it deserved its own thread.

You must purchase a 360 console (not necessarily at the same time as the remote or from Computers4SURE) as the rebate requires a copy of the UPC symbol from the box and copy of the remote invoice/receipt.

Also, they have wireless controllers for $39 (spend $50 for free shipping)

I want it so bad... I'm thinking about it. Thinking about it...

EDIT: Anyone know if thise can also be used to turn on the PS2?

I'm thinking about it too...my TV remote is in Japanese!

Not my hand/picture:

I saw this thing in best buy the other day - looks great - logitech also has another new inexpensive harmony remote out now too that's not xbox 360 specific - looks very similar to this one and think it's around 100 also - I have the 680 media center edition remote and love it - I can tell you that my 680 will turn my slim ps2 on and off so I don't see why this one couldn't either. It's great to just press one button and everything come on to the right settings - then one button to turn everything off. These harmony remotes rock.

Awesome information. Its too bad now that the remote won't be used in my room now. Looks like its going into the TV room with all the expensive stuff.

When this product was announced they mentioned a $30 rebate if "bought with a 360." Has anyone seen the actual rebate form. I don't see it on the Logitech site. If this qualified for the rebate, would bring it down to $62.
Please enlighten me on why this remote cost so freakin much.
You know the Trapper Keeper episode on South Park? Thats why....

How the heck do you turn the PS2 on and off with a remote? :whistle2:s

You can download the remote codes via the computer to program it as a universal remote for almost anything. It also supports macros. They don't become obsolete the day after you buy them because you can program not only equipment but any new equipment that comes out down the road.

If you think this is expensive, try looking up the Pronto or other high end remotes - many start at $600 and go well over $1,000.

You need one of the newer PS2s that has the IR reciever built into the unit and the newer remote that has a green button on the top of it.

Thanks for clearing that up. Which I'm guessing is the PSTwo and the newer 39001-series and later PS2's?

Hopefully a stupid question:

My remote for the Logitech Z-680s is a piece of crap. Does this, or any of the harmony remotes, work as a replacement? Does it work any better? The original z-680 remote is VERY particular about where you point it...

They added it to the older model PS2 back when they overhauled it and added progressive scan DVD playback and a few other little things here and there. I'm not sure what the model number is though.

All of the Harmony remotes can control any IR device (and the newer...very expensive ones also do RF). In fact, I just checked and they have a profile for the Z-680s online.

Even if there was no profile, it is possible to use these remotes like other learning remotes...where you point to the Harmony with the original remote to teach it the signal.

I don't have the Harmony 360, but I do own a Harmony 676 and was about to configure it for use with my XBox 360.

That has more to do w/ the receiver on the control unit of the Z-680s being fairly small. It is improved slightly in the Z-5500s (have both), but it's still does not have the range as most other HT components.

Its the 50001 thats the old style overhauled with a ir reciever instead of 1394.

This and the Tiger OS are the only two things on my Christmas list.

No way I'd drop $90 on a remote but thankfully my dad, brother or GF will.

This remote is worth every penny. I had four remotes, this is the one remote to rule them all. Regular universal remotes always miss some commands from the original remote, The Harmony can actually learn all of the functions of your original remote. THIS THING IS FREAKIN AWESOME!!! Definitely get it.

P.S. Its beatiful to look at too.

Bump for the $30 rebate question. Is the rebate bundled with the 360 or something, because I don't see the form anywhere. I will email Logitech in the morning and report back.

So gizmogc, was the rebate in the remote control box? I am just curious if the rebate only works if the 360 is purchased on the same receipt. If there is a way to get this down to $62, I am all over it. Don't get me wrong, $92 is a great deal, but I am a CAG afterall.

Man, I'm so close to ordering this thing. If I was 100% certain that the rebate is definitely going to come with it, I'd order right now. I've definitely got an itchy clicky finger on this one, though.

Yeah for $60 I would DEFINITELY pick this bad boy up. It would be awesome if I could get this thing to control my fan and light.

I just ordered it. :) Well, it was actually last week. I put it off for a while, but finally broke down.

Hopefully it'll come with the rebate. If no one before me does, I'll post whether it does or doesn't come with it. If not, I'll have to try to snag one from Best Buy, unless someone can find an online link (because I can't find one, either).

I can't pass this up at $60 bucks. It'll be nice to put away all five of my remotes and just use this.
Logitech's web site says $30 rebate if purchased before March 31st... So $60??? I'm very tempted.
Can you print out the rebate from the website?

So anyone know if this can control the PSTwo? I've been scouring the internet to see if it can and can't find any answers. Anyone? I was wondering about the original xbox as well, but then realized that I already have the microsoft remote for it so I can just "teach it" but just trying to find out if I can dl the code to control my PSTwo with it. Kinda along the same line of what Shrike was asking. I'm so ready to hit up my local BB if this is able to control it all. :bouncy:

Okay, I broke down and ordered it. Now I just need the full specs on that upcoming Pelican System Selector Pro 2.0 to see if I want to buy one of those as well.

Im thinking about buying one from that place and also from best buy. Keeping the one with the rebate and returning the other one. Im gonna email logitech and see if i can get a rebate. Also the rebate is only good if you bought a 360 and the remote.
Peace

Could you post some of the rebate details, please? How is it worded, i.e., does it require the 360 and the remote to be on the same receipt? What are the valid dates?

Thank you.

Yes, I am very curious about this as well. I REALLY want to pull the trigger and I think I can convince the wife for $60.

I don't believe they have to be on the same receipt. Here are the details:

--------------------------------

1. Your sales receipt(s) or invoice(s) with the purchase price and date circled (photocopy ok)

2. Cut out the original upc barcode symbol from the logitech harmony 360 product box purchased (photocopy or peel-off upc lables will not be accepted)

3. a photocopy of the upc barcode symbol from the microsoft xbox 360 console system purchased

4. on a separate piece of paper, print your: NAME, ADDRESS (no po boxes address), PHONE and E-MAIL.

Rebate request must be postmarked within 30 days of purchase date. Allow 6-12 weeks for delivery.

So if anyone for whatever reason doesn't get the little slip, I'd either call, or just send in all of this info. You'll probably be okay. It doesn't say anything about sending in the little slip.

In other news, the remote is fantastic. I dare say, that if the 360 controller feels just about perfect, this feels equally like a perfect remote. I love the feel, contour and balance. It screams quality. A+!

When you start out, you'll have to install a program from the included disc. Then you'll be shuffled through the setup. It's very easy and intuitive. You just have to know the model numbers for everything you want it to be able to control. It's all in a database. It even controls my Sirius Sportster! :D Then you can set up the hotkeys. A one button press now turns on my TV (to the correct input), receiver (correct input), and DVD player. I love it!

I've only scratched the surface, but I think all of you guys who ordered it are going to be pretty pleased with it. I know I am, and I'm glad I jumped on this deal. Thanks, Cheapy! :)

Thanks for the quick reply heavy liquid. I think I will pull the trigger tonight. Let's just hope I find an Xbox 360 in the next 30 days in order to qualify.
