Looking for a 30-32 inch hdtv for gaming. suggestions?

LCD seems a bit overpriced. I don't have any problem with crt. I guess I really don't want to go over about 600.

I guess even a 27 wouldnt be bad, i just wouldnt use it in the livingroom, I'd move it into the bedroom and the 360 in there as well.

[quote name='Ruined']This one is real nice, even has HDMI in addition to Component for HD-DVD/Blu-Ray, don't know where you can find it cheap though.

Not a good TV. Toshiba doesnt even make their own CRT's anymore, a company named Orion does. I believe they are the same people who make the generic brand memorex. I had the 26" of this TV and had all sorts of trouble. When using the HDMI port (I tried 3 different HDMI players) the TV picture flicked a ton. Also when playing older games (NES, Genesis, SNES, N64, Etc) the bottom of the screen was cut off with no way to zoom it correctly. You couldnt even walk because you'd fall through the bottom and not know. I went with a 26" Samsung and have been happy with it thus far. Also OP DO NOT get a 27" or 32" tv, you need to get a widescreen if you want to enjoy HDTV.

If you dont mind buying from the Philips Outlet here are three 30" models from Philips that would do the job fine for playing games on.

I have the first model I linked and it works great with my 360 and with HDTV programming.
I am sure people will hope on here a dump all over the Philips TV's but if you want a TV just for gaming with the 360 I think the Philips will be fine. Plus if you purchase from http://www.electronicsnation.com you have the option to add either a 2 year or 4 year warranty direct from Philips with the TV. And they also price match the Philips site and have no sales tax(unless your in Ohio) and have free shipping also.

Nothing wrong with buying a Philips CRT TV. They still make some of the best CRT's around. I'd suggest either a Philips or a Sony, but the Sonys are going to be a bit out of your price range at about $900 bones. Be sure to buy a widescreen though, don't settle for any full-screen bullshit.

Just to let you guys know, Circuit City has a deal right now if you apply for their credit card and get approved there is zero percent financing for 2 years if you purchase a tv over $499. With that said I picked up a 26" Samsung LCD tv and am very happy with it. I'm using it for my 360 and as a pc monitor.

Before you go to the store, check the online price because I found the price to be lower on their website. It was lower by about $200 which is not chump change. Let them know about this when you pick which tv you want and they will match the online price with no problem.

Good Luck!

btw, have you guys herd anything bad about phillips outlet? I've come across a few bad reviews so far, so I wonder how credible this stuff is. I'm not sure how electronics nation gets there's but I'm more inclined to go with them.

I bought a TV from them over a year ago that was horrible, but to their credit they picked it back up and gave me a full refund, no questions asked.

I've bought other things from them - a new, discontinued model of a Magnavox surround sound system that still kicks ass, but I wouldn't buy another TV from them. Their customer service is excellent, though.

I also bought a tv from phillips last year that still works fine. I received the wrong remote control with it but I was just glad the tv worked for that price.

Holy cow. Those prices seem...crazy! I might have to pick one up for myself.
However, those don't seem to have the HDTV tuner included. How does that work?
I'm new at this, too.

Here is the difference:

HD Ready
means that the TV can receive HD content but will need a tuner to be able to clearly get HD Content i.e. Cable box if your provider has HD channels or Tuner to receive local channels. Most HDTVs are HD Ready.

HD Built-In
means that the TV already has a HD content tuner inside of your set that will allow you to receive HD content. So in other words if you have Cable or Satellite that has HD content you can look at it by hooking up the cable directly to the TV without your cable box.

Pretty sure thats wrong, you can use a OTA antenna to get OTA signals and watch them with the built in tuner, OTA=over the air. Plugging just the cable in form a cable box or dish will not get you all if any HD channels.
