thanks guys!

question:
how can i tell if i have 168 pin ddr or 184 pin ddr?
EDIT: nevermind, 168 pin is SDRam
i know i need ddr, my roomate game me some SD and it didnt fit

i have a dell made last feb if that helps any.

i was looking for around ddr266 or ddr333

I have that same stick as the first V-Data one you posted. It runs fine, but apparently some of the more name brand ones like Crucial or Kingston run better even though they are listed at the same speeds. Also, you're right, if you want crucial, do not buy it from crucial.com as it is more expensive there for some reason. Stick to newegg, they seem to be pretty good with all their prices. You could also check your ads from today's paper, I know Circuit City and BB always have some type of RAM on sale after rebates, so you may be able to get a better deal there.

theres one in this weeks bb ad its 95$ - 35$ mir.

but 95+tax come out to around 103 and then i have to wait for the rebate to make it still cost more than newegg lol

Yeah thats true, I always question rebate deals because they might never show up, or if they do they still might take 2 months or more to get anything back.

I buy all my RAM from Crucial. They are very high quality and they offer free shipping. BTW there is no reason to buy faster RAM if your Mobo takes 233. Unless you plan on upgrading soon and want to use it in your new PC.

FWIW, I bought a stick of 512MB DDR333 Kingston ValueRAM from Office Depot (B&M) on Thursday. $71 on clearance, no rebates (that I know of). Probably a big YMMV, though.

well id like to use it in a future computer, plus the 400 ram is cheaper than the 333 and 266.

go figure

so guys...crucial or kingston?
anyone ever use both? know which is better?

ok i ordered the ddr400 512 crucial ram.

everywhere i read said crucial crucial crucial, so i figured, what they hey. the company ONLY makes ram (which i didnt know) and if thats all they make, they must be good at it to stay in business.

how hard is it to install a 2nd hard drive on a dell dimension?
