Looking for a cheap computer(no monitor or any other mumbojumbo just the PC)

how much are you willing to spend? i have one i built about a year ago stashed in the closet. All i remember is that it is 2ghz (OC from 1.8). If you're interested, i'll fire it up and give you the rest of the specs
Fatwallet usually has deals on computers... I'd say build your own if you can. If not, Dell usually has a deal on a 400sc. Right now they're offering a P4 2.4 for $349, or Celeron for $249.

Unless you live nearby, Compgeeks's shipping is a deal killer.

If you can build your own, check out newegg.com's refurb section for some deals, they restock periodicly.
No OS on those dells though.....

If you're not afraid of alittle work, a great deal can be had. This is what I got right now (just got up in an running this week)

400sc
2.8Ghz 800Mhz
1024MB PC3200 (running at 400Mhz dual channel)
Ati Radeon 9800pro
$540

*work/hassle $100 MIR, $50 MIR, $30 MIR, $63 dollar part return, obtain operating system.
To me there was no contest, my brother in IT was able to secure me a legit copy of XP pro for free, and I got in on a 400SC deal that was fantastic. If you're interested, keep your eye on FW or PM for details. These deals come and go, so you'll have to be patient and wait for the deals to happen, then pounce.

Unless installing one from a CD is an issue for you I don't see the problem.
But you have to pay $100 for Xp, so you have to factor that into the deal.

Fatwallet offers up some good deals on Dells on occasion. Also check out their coupon forum. Someone might give you a dell coupon.

You people actually go to the store and buy Windows?
I would rather be legal in those matters just to be safe.

First of all, you can be legal and not pay those outrageous prices. Many colleges sell MS products for next to nothing, which is where I got my copies of XP. Sometimes an MS rep will be there giving them away. It depends on how big a shill the college is.

Secondly, MS doesn't go after home users who aren't "legal". Its not worth their time. They only go after businesses.

Third, their monopolistic practices (forcing computer makers to pay the "windows tax" even on computers with linux, and making them bundle restore cd's which are non-transferable instead of an actual Windows cd) leave me with no sympathy for them. Though I'm sure the world's smallest violin is playing just for them.
