looking for a cheap/decent pc controller

EggViper

CAGiversary!
im looking for a cheap controller for the pc, one that connects thru usb. it needs to have at least an analog stick and 2 trigger buttons (like L + R buttons on the side of any console controller), and ofcourse a few regular face buttons. it doesnt have to have vibration functions. basically im looking for one around $20.

another possiblity could be one of those ps2 to usb controller adapters. but i dont know how well that works on computers and how easy it is to setup since most dont come with software. if anyones had any experience with these feel free to post ur thoughts.

Saitek P880 is what i got, u can get it at gamestop for $20 us a pretty good controller, has no vibration, but it has 6 face buttons (4 bigger than the other 2) Has L and R, but they're not spring loaded like the xbox (if u like the ps2 ull like it) The analog sticks are placed the same way they would be on a ps2 controller, while instead of having a ps2 d-pad, it has a d-pad like the xbox has.

For the converters, I have a super joy box converter for my xbox controller and it was a pain in the ass to install on any computer, so unless you really want your controller on ur pc, just buy a pc controller.

i have one of those ps2 to usb convertors, best $10 i've spent on a computer gamepad to date, easy setup and perfect response... Used for Vice City, FFXI, and MAME

I'll have to look into that. I don't play PC games, but want a controller for use with emulaters.

Sorry to bump this. I was just looking at the converter and had 3 questions.
1. How about drivers? Where should I get them from? Does it work like a normal controller?
2.Any tax charged?
3. Is it a reputable company, and is there a place I can show my parents so I can order from it? (i.e. Better Business Buruea, or something like that.)

Yes they do work like any other controller. If you pick up an adapter for a Playstation controller the drivers are already included with Windows XP, if you don't have Windows XP or you choose an adapter for an Xbox controller you will either get drivers with the adapter or you can download them online.

Tax is not charged from places like Play-Asia

Play-Asia is a reputable company, they have limited references but you can find them at ResellerRatings.com

I do want to offer an alternative however as I sell both.

You can find the adapter for the Xbox controller here for 8.99 shipped via First Class mail or for 2.00 more we can ship Priority, First Class takes three to five days and Priority takes two to three.

You can also find the cheaper Playstation controller adapter
here for 11.00. We also offer the more expensive Smartjoy Plus for 13.00 which you can find here.

The less expensive one is just as good in my experiences as the more expensive one, but the more expensive one is a name brand and better known and our supplier charges us more for those which is why we offer an alternative for the more cost concious.

The biggest advantage we have to places like Play-Asia who are based in Hong Kong I believe is that our shipping is much faster.

For example their least expensive shipping (3.00) takes seven to fourteen days while our least expensive First Class shipping takes three to five days. Our Priority shipping is 3.85 and takes two to three days, to get the same service from Play-Asia you would have to pay 15.00 or more.

We do offer drivers for the Xbox controller on our website here and drivers for the Playstation controller are included via floppy in the box or as I mentioned come with Windows XP.

You can find us at ResellerRatings.com also and we are of course a PayPal Verified Premier Business Member with over 600 verified buyers, also because PayPal believes we are such a reputable seller they offer the money back guarantee which you can purchase for less than two dollars.

I hope this helps you out, good luck!

This might a very dumb question, and I apologize if it is, but.... Can I use one of those usb converters on my logitech cordless action ps2 controller? I prefer that controller to the regular PS2 controller and it would be awesome if I could use that on my pc.

I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't work but I have not yet tested either adapter with a wireless controller and the best information I could get is that they may not work with wireless controllers....

Hmm well if you ever do test it with a wireless controller and it works let me know! If it does work I'll definately be buying one sometime soon after christmas.

when you all say get a ps2 to usb converter you don't mention a specific brand or model? is there a specific one that would be best? also, what b&m store would be the best to purchase at? will i be able to play doom 3 on my pc just as if it were a ps2 game? i am a pc games novice
