Im looking for a new video card for future games, id like to keep it under 200, I want to upgrade to be ready for mostly crysis 2, dragonage 2, bf3, skyrim, portal 2,

Right now i have a radeon hd 5570.
other than that a stock computer from best buy (i know i should of built my own and got more for my money)

heres some comp stats, dont know what else i should tell you.
i5 [email protected] processor, believe its dual core
6gm ram

my monitor is 1600x900 if that matters
thanks for the help

You just have to open the case and look at where the power supply is, you can follow the cable from the outlet on your wall to the computer and that is what it's connected to. On the side there should be a label that lists the wattage.

I've got one for sale if you're interested. New Radeon HD 6870. Look up the specs on Radeon's website for full details if you're interested. Retails for about $230. Your current power supply would most likely need to be upgraded in order to run graphics cards higher than what you have now. 500 watts at least.

Id rather buy new, i just like knowing ive been the only one to use something, so i know its history etc.

and thats what it looks like with the power supply i have now, cheap or pita to do?

I understand. I won the graphics card in a raffle at an electronics event for work on Thurs last week and am going to put it on ebay. Thought you'd want to know before I did that.

ahh, well that's not a bad price for an upgraded power supply.
is your preference corsair, or is that generally best brand for power supplies?

Corsair is a good brand, not the best, but you'll pay a lot more for the top-end PSUs like Seasonic.

You might even pay a bit more for a higher-wattage PSU for more upgrades down the line.

fyi, there could be some price drops in the next 2 weeks, as amd just revealed the 6990, and NVidia is supposed to announce the GTX 590 at pax east. It might not trickle down to your price range, but it could step the lower end cards down a bit and you might be able to afford something a little better.

Here's an always useful, monthly updated (reposted) article for recommendations and tier ratings.
According to that and your budget (assuming PSU is another matter), your best bet is either a 6850 or GTX 460 1GB.

just gonna ask a question. newegg is having a sale. and i dont really need to upgrade my computer in the next few weeks, i just want to get ready for bf3 skyrim and d3

new egg is having a decent sale for power supplies, found a 730watt for 60 bucks. if i do get a gtx460, which needs 450 watts, would i have enough to run everything else? cause there is a 1000watt powersupply for 100 bucks. either one im thinkin about, just askin for opinions

1000 watt

730 watt

and i will need to get a new case for when i get a video card, mine will be too small to fit. since i just bought a stock computer from bestbuy, ill be able to take out the motherboard, hard drive and everything else out and put it in a new case pretty easily right?
