I'm looking for an HDTV. I don't want to spend more than $500, although I found one for $550 that I'm seriously considering. I figured out most TVs of that price are 32" to 37". I want at least 2 HDMI inputs. Component inputs are nice too. I'm not really worried about brand, unless I should be? (Advice?)

Here's the TV I was looking at. $550 for a 42" plasma. It's 'Best Buy Brand', but it's big, has HDMI, and it's at the Best Buy in my area.

Keep in mind, that I'm a guy, so I'm all about size. ;)

I can't say I've purchased many televisions, but I tend to shy away from brands that I don't recognize on big purchases. TruTech at Target, for example. Just my 2 cents.

I have a 32" Dynex LCD as my secondary HDTV and have had zero issues with it. Well, other than the speakers sucking but that's pretty true for any tv.

This is just me, but for roughly 100-250 more you can get a name brand television. I would never invest over $500 in a no name brand television. I would rather wait it out longer, save some money and invest in a company that has a track record of putting out quality products. If you do not care about name brand then I guess go with the Dynex. Just the sound of buying a TV that is not Sony,Toshiba, Samsung,ext...turns me off.

I agree. I just recent ordered a Sharp that is "only" 37" and cost $700. But I rather feel safe in a brand I trust than something like Dynex or Trutech unless it's really cheap since I don't expect them to last much longer than a year. If you're seriously considering a store brand, make sure to get the extended warranty.

550+tax for 42inch plasma is dirt cheap and has a builtin tuner as well. You can't go wrong really.

Unless you just gotta have 1080P or want a higher resolution instead of the 1024/768.

I paid 570shipped for 37inch westinghouse 1080p set.4 months ago. Which I use as a computer monitor and TV and its great.(no built in tuner though)

At the rate that TVs drop in price I find it extremly hard to go out and throw down anything more then 700-800bucks for them.
