I didn't know where else to put this, but finding a Wii anywhere without a bundle is usually a big deal, so..

Anyway, local GameCrazy stores have reported a "huge" shipment of Wiis and accesories today. Call your local store today after 1PM. If they don't have any, try again in a few hours, and again tomorrow, as well as Friday. I'll post an exact number of how many are coming in once I get an idea, but for now, just call this afternoon and ask about one.. you may be suprised at the response you get. I doubt this is regional. Every shipment of Wiis that I ever received has NEVER been more than 5. Hopefully this is the avalanche of systems that people have been waiting on.

Isn't calling like a deal breaker for everything? When I worked at EB as a manager, I told the callers I had no clue even if I was sitting on systems, and offered to only the people who bothered to come in and ask for one. Then again, I was fired for an unrelated incident. But my point is, never trust calling.

that's a gigantic waste of gas. I almost never bother w/ B&M deals without calling ahead first cause while my mileage may vary on a deal it doesn't vary with my automobile . I'm a cheap ass environmental gamer ;).

Thankfully, where my store was, that I still go to once in a while, since the DM fired me, so the staff has no problem with me....in a single intersection, I got a CC, Target, BB, TRU, and EB. So if I am SOL on a single deal I just hop across to another store.

Edit: If I'm extremely SOL, I just grab some Taco Bell, since it's in that same area, now there's a good deal, 4 tacos and a medium drink for $5 and change

Same here. I was told by management that even if we have the item in question we're not allowed to tell them anything, only to come in and check for yourself.

So you know what I'm referring to. By telling people on the phone that we have Wiis (or PS3s at the time), then people will tell people, that will tell people, that will tell people, and then you'll have a crowd of 50 people at your door in 10 minutes asking for a Wii.

How terrible! Who in retail actually wants A LOT of people in their store looking to SPEND MONEY? I'm surprised they didn't tell you to lock the doors and put up a "CLOSED" sign.

There's a reason those managers are managing a game crazy and not something bigger...

A clerk/regular employee telling a phone call they don't have them makes absolute sense...for the regular employee. They wont have to deal with the 50 people coming in and asking for Wiis. For a manager though, who actually cares if the store makes a lot of sales, should encourage telling them yes when you do have them. They can't buy anything else if they arent in the store.

I called 3 GC's in a 30min. radius of where I live and none of them said they had any or knew of any incoming shipment. Big possible YMMV

mzbagel: I'd like to see what happens if you were in my position, and told someone over the phone that you have Wiis avaliable, and then they drive down and then they bitch at you for not having them still in stock, and then having a complaint filed against you for that reason.

Confirmed. Most if not all GameCrazy's should get some in this week. If they don't know about it then it's probably because they haven't checked their shipment tracker which most people usually don't check. Just keep calling, you'll find one.
Just picked up 2 Wii's. Willing to sell one for $250 plus shipping. Email me at [email protected] if interested
New user + 1st post + lame email address + already wanting to sell something = AVOID.

Marking this one too, way too suspicious.

That's a fuck ing stupid thing to do. "Hi, so you don't have any Wii's instock and can't tell me when they'll becoming in, well hell I'll just drive to the store and check every hour on the hour just in case"

fuck ing tard managers.

Mine...

got some yesterday but is still finishing ff their preorder list...

Thanks for the heads up... still trying to get one for the little sister.

yah, my whole family was cheapass...but that was during the Reaganomics era when my dad was laid off from his job and working 3 crap jobs just to pay the house payment.

April 2007 and Welcome to Michigan Under Jennifer Granwhore. :bomb:

That is what I am thinking. I mean come on, If I come into the store at 1, seeing if they got any, and at 2 o clock, they got a fresh shipment, I won't be able to know, because I wasn't lucky. That fucking sucks man. That is why the people at best buy wouldn't tell me about the XBox 360s they DID have instock two years ago, eh?

This is why most EB/GS suck. Lie to customers on the phone. Keep people out of your store...that's a way to make money.

The really stupid part is that if they don't get you to come in to the store, they have no way to force the really profitable crap down people's throats (like warranties and subscriptions, used games, etc). Sometimes, these companies are really stupid.

TBW

EDIT - I guess I should read the rest of the thread before repeating what is already said, but its still stupid to lie to a customer on the phone. I guess that's just one reason there are ex-EB managers in the world.

try working retail and you will disagree with your previous statement. the people that take their time to actually come in and check on it, most employees will tell them a date if possible. the people that call every 30 mins. and keep on distracting us from our other work (and customers actually buying something) it depends what kind of a mood you are in. if i am sitting on maybe 15 wii's and you call and ask if i have any and i say yes, what would you do if you came in and i actually sold out because i had customers that were already there when i got it? the wii is such a popular item right now that most managements will not hold them for customers unless it is one they know very well. if you keep your eyes on speedy's threads and the sunday ads yourself, you shouldn't have any trouble knowing who has them and who doesn't. they will advertise the wii if they have it usually, sometimes as a bundle. good luck everyone looking for one, try TRU on the 22nd. from what we were told, we should be getting anywhere between 30 or more, but this will depend on how well the stores are selling accessories too.

sorry TBW, these stores will sell the wii or whatever it is anyways. that is the point of the hold on the item. do it on 1 day and get lots of sales when you have everything in stock. why sell them if you cant add on accessories or the top games? they hold them until they have what they need at most stores as directed by the top management (above dm's and rm's) until told to sell. why should we get fired because you want your system right now? i would rather tell you no we dont have it, check back at so and so time/date (if we are to hold them until that day) and continue on with my business. that is how i cover myself and give you a heads up on when we should be allowed to sell them.

Got one.. thanx OP! Love buying it from GC since they give out the 12 free rental also :) I guess I got lucky that when I called the clerk was having a good mood and told me he has them, my friend called a bit after me and they were (supposely) sold out already (although I saw a few of them still in the box when i left.. thanx OP

Half of you people bitching about not being able to get a Wii because clerks/managers wont tell you when they come in... Please stop. You're not working retail (specifically in a game store) during this shitty Wii drought where every customer on the planet asks about or asks for a Wii and you get sick of saying "No sorry" then you get bitched at by some shitty mom because you don't have them.

Even if we were to take your number down and call you when they arrive later in the day... They wont be there by the time you make it to the store.

The way it goes is... Cut open box, 4 - 5 Wiis inside, 4 - 5 customers in the store, they see you pull one out, one guy freaks and asks to buy one, and then causes a chain reaction to other customers in the store. Most of the time Wii's are gone within the first half hour - 45 minutes (based on stores I've worked at). And the only reason it takes that long is because you're talking to the customers while they're trying to pick out games or accessories to buy.

And yes, telling people on the phone "Yes, we have Wii's" really sucks for the person hearing the good news. Because by the time you arrive in the store... They're gone... ALWAYS. I've seen it about 10 times since launch.

QFT. If even that long, try more like 5 minutes, and with only a single case of Wii's.

I got very lucky with my wii. My friend who works at EB called me to let me know they had gotten some wiis in, and held it for me till I got there later that day.

Two local GCs here said they didn't get any, hadn't had any since Christmas, and even if they did they still couldn't sell me one since they still have a reserve list of people wanting one. He claimed Nintendo would be "mass shipping" them at the end of April though, which I haven't heard, but recommended trying back around then or beginning of May.

That's what the Nintendo Rep. told our store. She said they've told her that the end of April will see a lot more wii's.

As mentioned, calling will get you nothing.

If you want a hot item, do your research online, show up the day you think the shipment is coming in and wait until you see a truck pull up in the back. Then go inside and just wait around until they are brought onto the floor.

This is the only way you will get one at this point, unless stores are holding for the Sunday ads. It sounds ridiculous, but if you aren't doing it, there are probably 5 other people that ARE doing it at that same store.

The week after PS3 came out, it was easily the hotter item of the two. I was working at Best Buy and had heard that we got some in(it was my day off, by the way), so I booked it over to a different Best Buy(employees were not allowed to purchase them at the time) and waited around until they were brought onto the floor and I got the first one. There were like 8 other people waiting with me.

People don't understand that this is the only guaranteed way to get one from a place that's not holding them for Sunday ads. Other than that it's luck. I know it sucks but that's all you can do.
