Looking for cheap anime dvd boxsets

Nirvanaguy777

CAGiversary!
By boxsets I mean the complete series in a box set, looking for the cheapest prices on just about any anime box set, particularly interested in evangelion/outlaw star, also the complete gumby series

i mean cardcaptor sakura not the kids wb edited shit, I saw like a series of the cardcaptor sakura dvds not from kids wb but each dvd was like 20 bucks, if you could send me a link too those cheap dvds i would be so fuckin happy

It was a TRSI weekly special a couple months back :(
Their current sale is 33% off all Geneon releases using code 'tsukiko' , including CCS, which would bring it to about 17.80 a disk, which is not a real incredible deal.

If you're into Gundam you can get those disks pretty cheaply. Usually around $10 a disk. I highly recommend 0083 and 0080 and the 08th team.

Try Overstock.

i am into gundam, i have seen every series released too date, but im strapped for cash and my credit card is maxed, im waiting on those gundam disks, especially 8th ms team which is really short and very well done.
sphiatt.com is pretty good for anime prices too. Shipping is free but waaaaay slow. CS is alright but again, slow.
Yeah, but its only $3 extra for priority shipping. And they have great prices at sphiatt. Unfortunately my FLCL DVD I got for free keeps skipping on the last three eps. I can get another one for free when I decide to splurge on some more anime though. They even got japanese movies like Hero and the real ring and grudge.
eh i didnt enjoy blue seed too much
Yaeh me too. I'm trying to find the complete box set of Blue Gender now though. Any help on that?

Wow did everybody and their mother raise the price on the set or what? It was a lot easier to get a deal on the Blue Gender box when it first came out, guess that ship has sailed. Best bet is probably going to be ebay on it.

A quick search shows nothing but bootlegs listed right now, but completed auctions shows 3 or 4 legit sets and none went over 50 bucks.

I think i've seen it at Fry's and BB and I'm saving up for it. It was either $50 or 60.
i dont want rips, i want the official dvds
Oh sorry. Then stick to deepdiscountdvd.com or best buy...sometimes.

Best Buy is usually my choice considering they have a great selection at mine with good prices. I paid 100$ for the Blue Gender box set at Suncoast since I had a Newtype magazine with a 20% off all anime at Suncoast coupon.

Try www.digitaleyes.net
they sell used anime dvds at reasonable prices, and if you keep your eye on the site, they occasionally have REALLY good deals, like each saber marionette J collection for only 7$ apiece, that's 21$ for the entire tv series, or Brain powered (a decent show) they had a little while back each collection for only $4.50
oh yes, and outlaw star perfect collection might still be on sale at rightstuf.com for only 35$
On the weekly special at right stuff you can get Now and Then, Here and There for $30. $10 a disc. I highly recommend it, but not for the young.
Unfortunately it's not the box set, so you won't get the bonus disc. If you don't care about extras though, it's a pretty good deal.

They also added a Neo Ranga bundle (disc 1-6 for $39.95) this week, though I can't say I know much about the series.

NeoRanga's a pretty good series overall and as moiety mentioned that's a pretty unbeatable price for all 6 DVDs. I have the 1st 3 volumes already, but if I didn't I'd be on that deal (actually it may even be cheaper to just get the deal really).

Duo: you probably would be better off buying the bundle for the last 3 DVDs. Then the first 3 you could trade off or sell on eBay. :p Glad to hear it's a good series. I hadn't heard much about it, but figured I'd give it a try.

Is rightstuf.com usually on the slow side getting orders out? My order has been in the processing phase since the 12th. I've never ordered from them before so I just wanted to know if this was normal. Thanks.

Did you get it shipped w/ economy? If so it can take a little while because it's simple metered mail and if it's a big sale item for that week it doesn't help. I think the longest they took to get me an order was about 3 weeks. Their disclaimer on their site says like 2-5 weeks or something, but I've never had one take that long and I've haven't been screwed over by them at all yet either.

Hope your order goes through and you like Neo Ranga. I would've ordered it, but I decided to buy MGS 3 instead. I do like the show though even if it kinda drags at the end.

I think I did use Economy. Actually, I jumped the gun in making that post. It shipped this morning. I just didn't know how fast/slow their shipping was (and I didn't even factor in the shipping type). Thanks for your response!

Generally they're slow for their weekly specials. I think because of demand on their supplier. I placed an order for the Outlaw Star Boxed Set and the His/Her Circumstances boxed set around the 12th and it just arrived today.

yea i noticed they're slowness as well

Longest i've ever had a nonbackordered item stay in the "processing" phase was about 2 days and even after that my item arrived the day after it was shipped. Don't really see how Rightstuf can be slow x-p.

That happened to me with Excel Saga. I needed disks 4-6, but then the Imperfect Collection came out, and Best Buy had a sale, and i had a coupon, so it was cheaper to rebuy the set, especially when I could then trade/sell my original disks 1-3.

On TRSI, they should tell you the inventory status of the item on the item details page. But most of the things on the specials list, especially any really good buys, you might have to wait a bit for. I don't mind, I get economy shipping [usually free] and since I'm saving so much money, I can deal with waiting.

I had to wait about 2 weeks for one disk, and about 3 weeks for one box set one time.

I can't recommend RightStuf enough for anime purchases. I used to go for the best deal, but ended up having problems with customer service, shipping delays, or general problems that I could have done without. RightStuf is quick, ships on time (or early), and if you are patient or smart you can get your anime cheaper than anywhere else (even DeepDiscountDVD).

Things to look out for:

Weekly Sales at RightStuf. They usually have box sets for a steal, and every week they put something new up.

Studio Sales at RightStuf. Usually you can save 40% off of retail with one of their studio sales. Usually a studio will go on sale twice a year, sometimes even more. Right now it's Funimation.

GotAnime Subscription at RightStuf. It's only $12.99 and WELL worth it. You save 10% off your orders always, and coupled with a studio or daily sale you can get some great prices. The 40% studio sales will get you about a 46% discount.

Free Shipping at RightStuf. You can get free shipping with orders over $100, but during their studio sales you can "cheat". It will take the MSRP total for shipping, so you can get free shipping for an order about half of the $100 minimum.
