After reading your posts and getting a general feel for how you are with games and noting what you said about Batman AA already, the challenge rooms won't do much for you. Their either arena based combat with an emphasis on perfection or stealth rooms you've already played with suggested "challenges" to earn medals. The stealth might be done right, but if you're sick of the stealth rooms by the end of the game, I can't imagine you'd dig the predator challenges. And knowing how you like games to be easy and enjoy the story, you're not going to like the combat ones either -- because they're mostly for the fanatics or people who want to earn all the achievements.

I think Batman is still my GOTY. I need to get a copy for PS3 and go through it again.
Yeah, I doubt I'll dig them, but will give them a try at least before putting it up on Goozex. But I'll definitely wander around and try and find some more Riddler Challenges first.

Caught a bad cold, so I'm feeling pretty bleh. Just gonna sit home and play DQ8 all day and eat some chicken noodle soup. Mmm mmm good.

I completely agree with you on Batman. I, too, need to pick it up on the PS3 so I can beat it again. Sadly, even though I'm extremely psyched for it, I don't think I'll get aruond to doing that until right before the second game ends up dropping. There's too much stuff I want to play coming out.

Looking back, I kind of wish I did finish all the combat rooms.. I just did all the stealth rooms, though. The Stealth in that game was pretty easy.

you guys are making fun of something that I use ironically myself. :whee:
I know why. MGS4 was finished before developers even got access to trophies in development kits (it was around May 2008 when devs got their kits updated). MGS4 never had some sort of award system in place (like Uncharted), so coming up with trophies is not a quick task. Kojima would have to stop what he's doing, plan for where to place trophies, then edit the game code to put trophies in. The game would have to go through testing all over again, to assure no new issues came up when adding trophies (that's why some devs didn't put trophies in, since they didn't want to deal with the possibility of the game code having issues). Once finished, it would have to be submitted to SCE in each region to get approved so consoles can download it. Overall, there's just a lot to it and Kojima (along with most devs) rather just move onto their next project.
Bullshit. Did you play MGS4? You get awards/medals/whatever for achieving certain requirements on a playthrough. If Uncharted can do it, there's no reason MGS4 can't be patched (similarly, R&CF should've been patched, since it already had skillpoints) and newer multiplatform games like BotS or SR2 have absolutely 0 excuse. It just comes down to Konami and Insomniac (and THQ) not giving a fuck.

Or they simply have better things to do then waste time and money adding something few people would care about...

I think you might be underestimating the number of people that would at least play through the game again to get some trophies. I'm one of them.

That said, if I didn't still have my launch copy here, I wouldn't go out and buy/rent the game again for some trophies so in that sense, I guess it might not be worth the trouble.
At first I liked working from home...
Mixed bag for me. Sometimes I get more done in the office, sometimes more at home. Of course I have my own place so no distractions from wife, kids, family, roommates etc.

I agree, I would definitely go through my older PS3 games again if they had trophies. Especially MGS4! Beating that game three times was super fun without the trophies.. if they added trophies it would be mindblowingly fun.

Don't get me wrong I'd replay MGS4 in a heartbeat if they got trophies(Well... I'd replay it anyway). But I doubt anyone with the exception of a few trophy whores or MGS fanboys would care.

Bought a 20 psn card from a shady online site. Can't decide if I should get Vice City Stories, Patapon 2, or something else. Halp!

Damn sales...Steam has these super crazy sales and Rightstuf has a decent sale. I'm going to go broke.

Just booked a room for PAX East. I meant to do it sooner but I kept forgetting. I wanted to make sure I got a hotel as close as I could to the convention center. Now it's just a matter of seeing if any of my friends want to come along.

Played through Chapter VII of Bayonetta. It's still not clicking with me the way Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden have. I can definitely see the parts they took from Devil May Cry 3, but I can also see parts from Devil May Cry 2 which made the game drag on. Also, I didn't even know I had extra weapons until I looked in the menu. I was under the impression that I had to buy them. When I get a weapon, they should say 'hey, here's the weapon we're placing on you RIGHT NOW in plain sight, now go kill this next wave of dudes'.

One thing I will compliment it on is that
The major boss fights are in their own Chapter, thus far at least, making preparation a bit better.
I also ended up doing about 3/4 to a minor boss fight with the Sword immediately after I realized I had it. It was like chip damage twice, then quarter of a bar, then another half a bar in the span of 5 seconds.

I also find myself wishing more and more that I had bought the PS3 version. Let's face it. The 360 controller is great, but just not for this type of game.

Picked up a few of the daily deal Steam games today along with Wheelman for $4 from Gamefly, so I'm hoping the daily Steam deals are good for the next few days.

I'm gonna pass on Jade Empire SE--I don't think I can handle the step backward in presentation, etc. from Dragon Age.

I didn't realize that either... especially since the first weapon I unlocked had the alternate version in the store... it was only once I got Shuraba and wanted to use it that I started looking for it. When I didn't find it in the store, I somehow managed that LT was weapon switch. :3

Same... sucks. Been sick for 9 days now.

If people don't like hard games, Bayonetta definitely isn't for them. I'd peg the difficulty of this game somewhere between Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2's Mentor Mode and Ninja Gaiden 2's Warrior Mode. Both of which are pretty difficult. I'm somewhat enjoying it, but the way I die sometimes is a bit confusing.

There's one thing they do, which by the way is pretty good (and if they didn't do it this way I'd call the game impossible) is that when you die and choose to continue, it usually starts you off where you were with full health. Now this seems pretty sweet, but against bosses and minor bosses (by the way, after Chapter 2 every Verse has at least 1 Minor boss) having to start over from the beginning is a bit of a chore.

That ends up fucking you in the ass eventually though... because it saves your checkpoint... so if you have a good run up to a certain point, then you start fighting a mini boss or whatever and use a bunch of items then die, you're still on that mini boss, you'll get full health, but be out 09287349827395 items... at least when you're playing on hard. :(

That's sad, man... It's really a superb game and the SE comes with an ectra playable char. :D

I just got Wolverine from GameFly and I've been playing through the last three hours or so and absolutely tearing everything to shreds. I only have the X-Force costume lef tot unlock, too. Yippee!

I watched my buddy play JE on Xbox when it first came out. Neither of us could get into it. At $3.75 I was tempted to give it another go, but I decided I would rather play Dragon Age instead. I'd definitely be down for a sequel to Dragon Age if/when that ever comes out.

watched inglorious basterds tonight - I liked that a lot more than expected. No games tho.

Still trucking away at Assassin's Creed 2 and Spirit Tracks. AC2 is a LONG game!

I think I might try Demon's Souls again after this.. or FFXII. I dunno. I want to play something RPG-like.

Anyone ever play Suikoden on DS?

AC2 wasn't *that* long. Though I suppose it depends on how many extraneous missions you do. For what it's worth, I 1000/1000 the game, but didn't do much more than about 3 assassinations (outside of main story) or many of the beat 'em up/races/delivery missions.

Inglourious Basterds was $. Then again, I usually dig MOST Tarantino films.

Yeah I ended up grabbing Jade Empire SE again(I had the Xbox version somewhere.) I'm not even sure if I'll ever play it again... I also grabbed Zombie driver and the Lucas arts adventure pack.
Torchlight is really cool. Maklershed can live! :whee:
Whew!

I'm digging it. My only problem with it is that it's hard to tell where the objective to the missions are located.

Yeah, I'm doing everything in that game plus only playing it a few hours a night. It's lasting a good long while. I'm finishing up Venice now.

I loved Jade Empire. I'm aware it's the one Bioware game most people don't like though.

Playing Saboteur and Left 4 Dead 2. I'm enjoying both. If anyone wants to play some L4D2 just send me a message on Live whenever I'm on.

There's definitely elements of the ME system in Dragon Age, particularly in the RPG/dialog system, but I never feel like I'm playing Mass Effect (or KOTOR for that matter) with different costumes since the battle system is different and there's a whole lot more story and side story in DA (or KOTOR). In fact, the sheer number of ways to play Dragon Age alone makes it distinct, IMO.

One thing that I'm finding I don't like is how much of the game I feel like I am missing just because I underdeveloped a skill or missed a dialog choice or did something that basically shut me off from some sidequest or treasure I really wanted to persue. I feel this way a whole lot more with DA over ME. It doesn't help that I get so wrapped up in the game I rely more on quicksaves (which are easily overwritten by mistake) than full saves.

It's not that I don't want to do multiple playthroughs with all the available race/classes, but more like I feel like I fucked up with the race/class I wanted to play the most. In that sense, it's a little frustrating.

I am currently playing Dragon Age. I am only at the part of the recruitment of humans redclife. It is not exactly where there is dragons. A partial spoiler is that it does have dragons but it is much different from Mass Effect. There is actually romance and slightly different things you can do in the game. Some people can explain some of the specifics but there are differences.

I am also playing wolverine. It is interesting. I think I should start playing other games too. Too many backlogs. I am actually starting to worry that I cannot finish some games.
is dragon age basically mass effect on a planet with dragons and with swords instead of guns?
On consoles it's more like KOTOR without lightsabers and on PC it's more like Baldur's Gate 2 with a zoomable camera.

your KOTOR comparisons don't help, as I've never played it. I remember baldur's gate somewhat fondly, but that reminded me more of diablo style combat (I could just be old and have forgotten whta BG really played like). no longer game on PC really. so this would be probably DA on 360, if I bother.

So I just beat Bayonetta. My thoughts? Pretty good, although not deserving a 10, probably not a 9 either. In my book and for my money...8. And to those saying the 360 version is a shining beacon of awesomeness that has no faults..."ARE YOU BLIND!?" because this game has tons of problems on 360. It's a technical mess, especially on the last 4-5 chapters.

BGII only resembled Diablo in that it was point-and-click and isometric, the combat itself is very different (tactics-focused versus twitch-focused, turn-based versus real-time, etc).

If it helps, Dragon Age on consoles is much like Mass Effect except that it doesn't control like a shooter, it has pause/unpause quasi-turn-based combat. Think FFXII with clickwheels instead of menus.

I am just curious did you import the game?

Oh I guess you pre-ordered it and received it earlier than the street date. I think I understand now. Well, I will wait until it becomes a little cheaper before I spend $60 dollars on the game.
Some stores put it out on shelves early.
Some?

Quite a few seem to have it out actually.. My Wal Mart has it out on the racks now and they said they would sell it to me, they thought that the register was just having problems processing it when I asked them to see if they could sell it.

The little mom and pops place in town has it, too! I'm amazed that so many people have pre-released it.
