I think Bungie could well stop making them. They may want to get out from MS's thumb, and give up the Halo franchise, and be a true third party developer.
The Halo franchise is here to stay--and should it's a solid FPS franchise IMO--but I wouldn't be shocked if Bungie walked away from it so they could focus on other games.
