I'm looking for the best deal on a 50-55" TV. I would prefer it to be something slim....DLP is out of the question, as I am selling my current DLP.

I've been looking at the 3D Plasma and LED's by Samsung, as they have some decent bundles (TV/BD player/3D starter kit) and it would be nice to somewhat future proof myself. However, I heard that the Samsung pn50c7000 or 8000 series buzz at times. The LED seems nice, but is a bit pricey. Looking to stay around $2000 mark hopefully.

Sugestions? Am I of base looking for 3D already?

$2000 for a 3D Tv that size seems like a bit of a stretch. You could probably find a nice Samsung LED for that price though.

I personally wouldn't get a 3d TV yet. The technology is still expensive and it will have improved greatly by the time it is actually becomes prevalent (not to mention you have to wear glasses). The general consensus that I've seen is that if you take a plasma and an equivalently priced LED TV, the plasma will offer better picture quality.

Thanks for the suggestions. The one issue I have with buying a Plasma online is it might "buzz" and then it seems like it would be a bitch to return.

I found the 3D UN55C7000 for $1899, which seems about the same price as normal 55" LED by Samsung

I have a 50" Samsung plasma and haven't heard of any buzzing issues with them. I love my 50" for video games and movies alike...would defn recommend that.

I have a slight bit of buzzing on my 58" Sammy (last years model). It's only noticeable if I'm trying to pay attention to it--meaning that all sounds are off and I have my held tilted to the side like I was talking to someone sitting on the couch with my. It's totally not a dealbreaker for an absolutely beautiful HD picture. I'd agree to pass on 3D until it's a couple generations into its lifespan.

I'm also shopping around for a now TV right now in the 50-60" range. Here's a list of all the best deals I've found so far over the past week. Don't think any of these are 3D tho:

I was also looking at the new Sharp Quattron 52" (4 color vs 3) and wondering if that is any good.

I'm still leaning towards the UN55C7000 since it seems like a good TV and I can get it for $1899, which is somewhat comparable to 55" LED. Bonus is, this has 3D in case I ever want to use it.

Now, any major difference between 120HZ and 240HZ?

Where can you get the UN55C7000 from for $1899??? You got some kind of employee discount or something? Cheapest I've seen it was $2283 after 15% coupon at Abes Of Maine. Almost ordered it today at that price.

I'm still doing my research but from what I've read on the AVS forums, the 7000 is a solid tv and has picture quality similar to the 8000. Didn't really care for 3D at first because it sounded like just another gimmicky feature but the more I read up on it, the cooler it sounds. :)

I'm mostly concerned with the input lag on the 7000 though since I play a ton of music games like Pop'n, IIDX, and DDR and need a TV that can handle the strict timing. Can't find any info on this though.

This is what I ended up ordering....seems like a good deal from Buydig.com

SKU Description Qty Price
SAMUN55C7000 Samsung UN55C7000 - 55" 3D 1080p 240Hz LED HDTV 1 $1,899.00
SAMBDC6900 Samsung BD-C6900 1080p 3D Blu-ray DVD Player 1 $309.00
SAMSSGP2100T Samsung SSG-P2100T 3D Starter Kit Glasses and Blu Ray 1 $0.00

That's a nice setup. I really wanted to get the 7000 but it had too much input lag for gaming. All the reviews I've read said PQ was amazing though.

I been looking at tvs the past month since i saw a big blue blur across my Sony lcd tv. I ended up ordering the Samsung 46 inch 120hz 1080p 6500 model last week from AMZ. I was going to get the 60hz but the price went down a few hundred from a few weeks ago and I got a free blu ray player and wireless lan adapter
