Hey guys, I'm looking for a gaming laptop for about less than 1000 bucks. I'm not looking for quad cores or the latest graphics card. Something that's at least a 2.6ghz+ dual-core with a decent graphics card and at least DDR2 ram would be nice. I'm going to travel soon and need a laptop to play Starcraft II and Steam games in just high settings. Any recommendations? Any input is appreciated!

I'd recommed looking into the MSI GX640 or the Alienware M11x. Both are in your price range and will satisify your gaming needs.

Thanks for the recommendation. MSI GX640 looks nice. However, Alienware's screen seems a bit too small for me. I think the MSI one has a pretty good cooling system. I think I'll wait a bit longer for Black Friday but something around 800 dollars seem to be more of my budget.

Also, a laptop that can deal with heat well is a big plus.

I'd also recommend checking ebay. I just did a quick search on ebay for gaming laptops with the specs/price you want and found 9 laptops. Out of all these laptops I'd recommend the one linked below. According to the benchmarks over at Notebookcheck it can run Crysis, GTA IV, and CoD MW 2 all in high settings which should be powerful enough to run Starcraft 2 in high settings. Also its just under your $800 budget.

As for dealing with heat, your best bet for a gaming laptop is to buy a cooling pad. By design all laptops are going to output alot of heat when running demanding tasks since all of the components are enclosed in such a small compact area.
