seeing all the movie previews makes me want to watch the movie sooo bad. like any movie based off a book, i'd like to enjoy that experience as well. anyways, amazon is selling each book for around $12 and thats just too steep. if anyone else can find a better deal, i'd greatly appreciate it. thanks

Yeah, normal retail on those puppies is 17 bucks a piece, for some reason That Yellow Bastard fetches 19 bucks a pop MSRP. Amazon/B&N online seem to be a good way to go. If you want the ones the movie adapts, grab The Hard Goodbye, The Big Fat Kill and Yellow Bastard. Well worth the reads.
 
I'm in the mood to grab them as well. Is there not a compilation? 12 a pop does seem a bit steep, even if for such quality.

The trade is a compilation. Each trade is a story made up of 5 or 6 chapters that begins and ends pretty much by itself. They all just have the same characters and take place in sin city (obviously).

yellow bastard is one of them that the movie is based on
woman wore red(think it's the name) was the other the movie was based on
the OG issues are the ones to have.
Go to a comic convention and find the originals dont just settle for trade paperbacks
this movie is gonna boast their value like a mother $$$$er
I grabbed like the only 2 issues i don't have for 50 cents a piece at a show 2 weeks ago
 
I, too, want to get my hands on the original Sin City, That Yellow Bastard, and The Big Fat Kill. I may pick up any other SC titles I can find next time Waldenbooks has a buy 4 get 1 free sale or something.

yeah i put a hold on all the books... uhm my place in line is 42. with borrowing periods that can extend up to 3 weeks, i would definately rather buy them.

42? Wow that's impressive, even most new stuff doesn't have a wait over a few people. But then of course the king county and Seattle library systems are seperate.
 
So nothing apparently. A story having chapters, how novel(mild pun intended). I was thinking along the lines of a book housing them all in the 30 and up range.

Each trade is around 200 or maybe 300 pages long. I know there are at least 4 but I'm pretty sure there are many more.

Basicallt every sin city novel is very good, frank miller is amazing.
 
A Dame to Kill For has some of the same characters so technically it has some little connection with the movie, but it's more a prequel to the stories used in the movies.

A book housing them "all" would be in the 1000+ page range.

What was said earlier about chapters is meant as each TPB has the entire series of comic books (20 or so pages) for each story. The original Sin City (later renamed The Hard Goodbye) was a series of books that came out monthly... same with each story after that. The TPBs already are a collection of books.

Well, to be even more technical, every book has characters that were in the movie, whether it's just in the background or as a primary/secondary character. They are, after all, stories about Sin City...

The movie was only The Hard Goodbye, then The Big Fat Kill, then That Yellow Bastard - in that order, with That Yellow Bastard having a section broken off and placed in the beginning. The very first scene was from the series, The Customer is Always Right and the bookend at the end with Becky and the "Doctor" was not in any story at all.
