Looking to get around a 13" laptop for a few projects. Was looking at spending $200 or less. This won't be used for gaming. Just Internet, Word Processing, and netflix when we travel

Chrome OS is fine, if it has windows I was thinking about putting Chrome and a small Linux distro on it and triple booting.

Found a few-

I'd prefer to buy from newgg/amazon's warehouse/Best Buy's outlet vs local craigslist

Anyone used an HP Stream? I see used ones for around $150-$200.

If you want good battery life get a chrome os laptop. Since the battery for most of them is 8+ hours. I have an acer c720 11.6" and bought it because it was cheap (less than $100). The best thing would be to go to your local best buy/walmart/staples/computer store and check out a few of them and see what you think.

I was going to get a 13" or larger chromebook and glad I got the smaller one because it is easier to move around. I have a larger 15.6" windows laptop that doesn't get much use anymore since its so clunky to move around. You can find quite a few of the 11.6" refurb chromebooks for around $100. Then your not worried as much if it gets broken. Or you can get two for the price you would be paying for one 13/14" chromebook.

Thanks I'll keep this in mind. I already have a 10.5 2 in 1, so I wanted something a little bigger

Have you looked at Woot? It's a daily deal website (now owned by Amazon) that also has side deals. Their computer deals run from the New, Refurbished, and Factory Reconditioned varieties.

A few months ago, I bought an 11.6 inch Lenovo laptop with 4 GB Ram, Quad Core AMD processor and 120 GB SSD drive for $200 new from them.  Runs great; I also upgraded the ram to 8 GB.

Thanks for this. I am familiar with woot, i'll check out the deals. I saw a few Chromebooks locally on sale Samsung and an Acer, around $150 with 2gb of ram

Check out the "HP laptops under $200" link and you'll see three HP Elitebooks for $100.  Dual core and have at least 2 GB Ram which can be upgraded.

It looks like a few companies are announcing new chromebooks with a newer intel celeron. So you may see some deals on some soon. One thing about chromebooks and lower cost laptops. Usually they put very crappy screens in them. Try to find an IPS screen. And 1080p screen if its not much more. The upgrade to 4gb of ram isn't that noticeable unless you open like 15+ taps in chrome. The storage upgrade from 16gb to 32gb might if you want to store a lot of stuff on it. But USB flash drives are super cheap.

Dell has refurbished Chromebooks starting at $199.  13 inch screen, 1080p, but low on the RAM and storage.  Still might be worth a look considering Dell is supposed to have good warranties and CS.
