Looking to build a mid range PC this Black Friday

If you're not complete against it, Dell has a i5 system with a monitor for like $550, I think? It's pretty nicely equipped, outside of the fact that it has no GPU and a weak PSU. You could easily fit those two things within the left over cash.

Plus, you don't need to worry about the monitor or OS (but it is Windows 8).

Newegg is a good place to look at.

For components your going to get a lot of bickering on what company makes the best cpu (amd or intel) and video card (amd or nvidia). For cpu Intel's are faster but you usually pay a premium for the processor and the motherboard. For video card just look at what games you play and pick the best card for that. But besides that there will only be a few fps difference on most of the cards in the same price range (usually).

I picked up a powercolor 7870 myst edition a few weeks back on newegg for 150 ar. Which is about a Radeon 7930 (if they made one).

This probably isn't the best site to ask for PC help. Tek Syndicate, Hardocp. Would be better. or pm me if you have any questions.
