I'm not looking for anything too fancy. The one I use currently is off center and its bout time I replace it. Looking to spend maybe $200-300 tops, biggest I can fit is a 27in but I don't think I need it that big. Currently these cheap ones catch my eye.

The prices are close but the brands are making me think twice. I have an Emerson stereo thats still going strong that I got it for Christmas in High school, so I'm leaning that way. Flat screen would be quite nice. Any input on these or perhaps some recommendations? :D

I have an APEX TV in my bedroom. It's a 20" flat-screen tube TV. It is ok, but the colors on it are kinda off. I haven't really played with the setting too much though, as it's only for my bedroom. It was like $100, and I'm sure a 27" won't run you that much more....

It's an ok TV, nothing groundbreaking, but it does the job.

Go with the flat, don't get a curvy TV. You may be able to do better than those prices as well, if you look. But that is a pretty good price for a flatscreen, especially with S-video. Keep in mind, Emerson is not the brand that it was years ago, the brand name was bought, and its now owned by Funai. So consider it a Funai TV.

Another option is this, looks just like the Emerson you're looking at, but under a different brand. Same manufacturer.

If you have a dvd player you should consider the type of inputs the tv will have, like s-video or component.

I saw a 27" JVC at costco this week that had both and had a flat crt for $249. Don't have the model number and couldn't find it on their website.

I like that I can do instore pick up with that. I think this may be the one I go with. Thanks guys for all the suggestions.

Pick up either the 24in Sanyo Flat screen for $188.00 or the 27in Sanyo Flat screen for $218.00 at WalMart. Sanyo is one of the best brands for the money you can buy. Its always rated no. 1 in consumer reports in its respective categories. Also WalMart offers a one year exchange policy on its Sanyo TVs all the other brands are only 90 days.

My Walmart still has 4 (as of today) of the 27" TVs from Black Friday... and they are still at the BF price, $178.88. You might want to check what your local Walmart has on the shelves!

Just a warning : almost all CRT flat tube TVs have geometry problems, so any lines that are supposed to be straight on the screen will look curved in certain spots.

But if you do go with a CRT TV try to get one with component inputs. It really produces the best picture you can get from a non-HD CRT tube TV.

I have had a sony wega 27 inch for five years now and it is easily the best purchase i have ever made. I would definetly recomend that you go with a sony tv, as they are the best i have ever found and they tend to last a very long time.

No doubt about it: Sony makes awesome TV sets. Trouble is, they're pricey, and you're not going to be able to touch a 27-inch flat screen Wega for $200-300. That's why I vote Toshiba. Nearly identical picture (go compare), and a price that is budget-friendly. They hold up well for many years also. :!:
