Looking to get an ice machine

Gotta say, I've never seen an Ice Machine show up on any BF Doorbuster specials.

Your best bet for something as obscure as that would be waiting for Sears or other department store to have a % off any appliance item coupon/deal. They do those all the time, especially Sears.

Most of us use freezers with built-in ice makers nowadays, or if you need a large amount you buy a few large bags of ice from Wal-mart for $2.

Have you checked the selection from Amazon and their reviews? Good as place as any if you don't have to pay tax.

Don't know if Amex will have the Wishlist certficates for Amazon this year, but that offered a percentage off if you won one of those in the past. Same goes for the Wishlist Best Buy certificate.

I'd go with buying bags of ice for the occasional high capacity need.

We have a Magic Chef ice maker that we bought at Home Depot a little over a year ago. It's a nice compact design, a little larger then a bread machine, and can make ice in about 7 minutes. You fill the bottom with water, and it draws it up into the ice maker part. It makes 'dome' ice cubes with a hole on the flat part. You can choose 3 different size cubes. Takes about 7 minutes per cycle. We leave ours plugged in and running all the time (we use a lot of ice in our house, and yes, we have an icemaker in the fridge....we really do use a lot of ice) anyway, it dumps the ice into a catch bin that sits above the water resevoir, it's inuslated, but it is not a freezer compartment, so if it's not used, the ice melts back into the water resevoir, and then it gets refrozen into cubes.
I deffiantely reccomend it if you're looking to increase your ice production without buying bags of ice. Great for parties, as it makes ice quickly. I forget what we paid for it, I think it was around $150 though.
