Looking to shoot something on my Wii

Since Metroid is quite a ways off, I'd like something for my Wii that involves shooting. I feel like too many of my games don't use the Wii-mote that much (Paper Mario, Zelda, and Wii Play)

So....suggest away!

I had Red Steel... didn't like it at all. Just couldn't get a feel for what I felt was a terrible control system.

I've heard nothing good about Far Cry.

I've heard nothing good or bad about Call of Duty.

I've heard very good things about Godfather, and own it myself but have yet to try it out. For what it's worth, the Wii version of Godfather got the highest score on IGN of all the Godfather games (PS2, 360, PS3, and whatever else).

So, basically, I can tell you to stay away from Red Steel unless it's, oh, I'd say $20 would be a good value.

FAR CRY IS TERRIBLE.
I bought it for the sake of the buy 2 get 1 at EB/GS and I tried it just for the hell of it.. :puke:

I bought Red Steel on launch. Some like it. I didn't. It's a neat concept.. but.. something didn't feel right.

...I'm gonna recommend Godfather. I never played it (or any version) but it looks like the best one out of those.

You should go with Elebits. All the fun of pointing and shooting and it received some pretty decent reviews.
I can't in good faith vote for any of those. I think you should just shoot the system with a real gun and be done with it.

I haven't played godfather or MoH, but far cry blows and CoD3 is a better fps than Red Steel although Red Steel has multiplayer and isn't really that terrible.

I'd choose CoD3 overall (as a single-player game), but if you want multiplayer you can go with Red Steel. But again, I haven't played MoH or The Godfather.
IAmTheBiggestInuyashaFan and rendil, you two voted for CoD3. Mind telling us why?
Sure. Of the games listed, I've tried them all except for Godfather. I thought CoD3 was the least frustrating of the games (control wise). Not that I'd recommend it over other games for the Wii, but if he wants a shooter, it's better than Red Steel or Far Cry.

From what I've heard, Godfather is probably a more enjoyable experience, but I'm not one to recommend games I've never tried.

Good for you! Let us know what you think--ALSO!!! Check out Pricegrabber, they added $5 bonus for the Godfather today!
Thank me later because I'm the one who found it ;)

Well it's fun, but I think I've been too 360-ized (graphics look like poo ;) ) But hey, it's fun, and that's all that really matters in the end.

Thanks for the pricegrabber heads up too!!

No problem!

rented from BBV, bored after the first level...

None of the above games, all waste of good money, i won't even want it if it's $5, maybe CoD3, but i got that on the PS3...

Maybe i vote if RE4 is on the poll...

Do not buy Red Steel! It's actually kinda cool at first, but it goes downhill really fast. I got Call of Duty 3 for my birthday a few months back and after adjusting to the controls I loved it, but it is fairly short. I had tons of fun when I played The Godfather for Xbox, but I obviously can't comment on the Wii functionality of that game.

Godfather is great. Don't listen to the Wii haters. Red Steel, Far Cry, and CoD3 all make good rentals, but not purchases.

See, I don't think Red Steel's nearly as bad as many people make it out to be. Many have issues with the fact that you can only turn by moving the reticule left and right, but it's really not that bad. You can find it for $30 new if you look around, which ain't great but ain't bad. If it were $20 bucks I'd say buy.

I still think it's too early to be purchasing a lot of games (I only have Twilight Princess and Red Steel). By the time all these games in the poll fall to $20, developers will have released or will be releasing games that actually look and play good. I'm just renting right now until the flood begins.
There's also CoD: Vanguard. Haven't heard very good things about it, though.
Uh, isnt it Medal of Honor?

I really liked Red Steel for what it was: low budget Wii FPSdom that really was too rushed to make it without the Wiimote aiming, but provided good fun with the Wiimote.

But it is also a game that is easy to hate for numerous reasons.

I'm also the Wii board's resident Godfather fanboy, so I vote Godfather if you want something more technically sound and don't mind your Wii-blasting to be done in the third person, usually with a lock-shoot-refine mechanism.

*doh!* whoops!

Don't be nitpicky: they're all WWII shooters for crying out loud :D

Although yeah, if I had been thinking "Medal of Honor" I definitely wouldn't have suggested it... for some reason I've lost all respect for that franchise.

I voted Godfather even though I haven't played it ;) I've read nothing but good things about the game, and I plan on picking it up on a price drop/DoTD or scoring a cheap eBay copy.

Farcry is pretty damn bad, but somehow the controls are actually manageable. If your bored enough for $10 it might be worth it, but I wouldn't pay more then that for it.

Red Steel is fun but very flawed, and I regret buying it for $50 as my launch title of choice (besides Zelda of course). It's also extremely short, somewhere in the ten hour range. If it had online multiplayer and was more polished it would be easy to recommend, but it doesn't.

COD3 would be better served on the 360, has more features and just looks/plays alot better on that system. Assuming the same for PS3.

Medal of Honor... forgot about that one. Got some bad reviews.

Does anyone think 13.99 is a good price for red steel? It has so many mixed reviews. Should I try it or get something else?

Medal of Honor Heroes 2, online mode = re play value. I haven't even touched the campaign but put at least 300 hours online since I bought it back in November.

I don't understand all the hate for Farcry. I think it's better than Red Steel, and the control is almost identical. I think it's a good game for under $20. Of course, I got it in a buy-two-get-one at Gamestop, so I actually only paid $12 for it.

Do you guys think I should keep it or is it so bad it is a waste of $? I can always put the $ towards another game.
none of the above, since they're all better on other systems. resident evil 4 is pretty awesome on wii, though
Why are we advising the OP on his question from almost a year ago?
